  17. After a good show last weekend at Hazel Grove the layout and has been titivated and the stock checked ready for its last outing of the year at Spalding. This will be a real tester for the layout as it’s on it’s home soil it’ll be interesting to see how it’s received. looking forward to the weekend hopefully see some of you there. Thanks Steve.
  18. Readying Farmers Drove this afternoon ready for its appearance at the show this weekend. You can read all about the layout in the latest issue of Railway Modeler. Steve.
  19. Excellent Nigel looks really good espically for a first layout. To of gained more fiddle yard roads round the back on Lymebrook all the points are PECO setrack points which are shorter so you can fit more in.. Steve
  20. Hello all Not much has been happening with the layout since June but it’s being readied for its last two outings for the year at Hazel Grove on the 26/27 October and then the following weekend at a show I was keen to exhibit the layout at Spalding as it’s where the layout is based to the south of Spalding out on the fens. To coincide with its appearance at Spalding the layout should be featured in Railway Modeler which comes out tomorrow. Thanks and hopefully see some of you at the shows. Steve.
  21. Enjoyed seeing and watching the layout over the weekend at Fareham layout looks really good. Steve.
  22. Hello Steve maximum length is just over 5ft train as that’s what the fiddle yard will hold in reality I only have about 5 wagons and a brake van if required behind a loco. Operation wise it’s a case of swapping the wagons over that are in the yard with the limited siding space available 5 wagons in and say 4 wagons out with shunting the brake van to the rear of the train it can easily absorb best part of half an hour. I have had thoughts about using a dice system for traffic type and number of wagons but as yet I put on what I fancy and have a good shunt. The coal yard is operated on a dedicated trip which only serves there usually behind an 08. The heating oil tanks which use the same siding run in on a trip freight to the yard and are shunted across when required. All in all it does exactly what I wanted it to do just a shunting layout for knocking a few wagons about. On the show front it’s only definite date so far is Trainwest in 2021. Although I am sure there will be others. Hillport was based on Cross Heath which near enough employed the same track plan this was featured in Railway Modeler in Jan 2018. Thanks Steve.
  23. Hello all ive not been able to put the layout up since Lyddrail but hopefully at the start of November I should be able to put it up in its entirety. I want to make some lights for the coal yard and make a light rig for when out exhibiting the layout. Ive been working on stock and I have also flush fronted my 25/0 along with adding crew and weathering. The lorry is a Radley Models kit. It’s finished in a fictitious livery but it’ll look good in the yard. The two brake vans are Slater’s kits and finished with tops code CAO and of course weathered.
  24. Just a reminder that Lymebrook Yard will be venturing down South next weekend for its last show of the year at Fareham. I’ve never exhibited any of my layouts in the area so I am really looking forward to the show. Hope to see some of you. Thanks Steve.
  25. Hello all Thought I would ask here I would like to know if there is a paint specifically for the brown used on freight stock or if not what paint do you use. Talking here of the stock that ran in the 70s -80s. Thanks Steve.
