I'll probably slip in a piece of neutral density (i.e. grey) gel behind the numerals when I get round to doing mine.
  2. And on the slow boat back to China? Many thanks for this. RWJ
  3. Brilliant. Thanks. It's sad we have to do these things on new models. RWJ
  4. Thanks. Any chance of a photo of the PB alone before you attach it to the other bogie please?

  6. Dunno. It's not yet confirmed that they have gone back to China. My 40141 arrived this morning. Very nice. I'I've been waiting years for a decent OO 40. Now waiting for them to do a disc headcode BR blue one so it can double-head. Just like the glory days on the north Wales coast. RWJ
  7. It's the only disc headcode one, so could be a moulding problem. If it was a DCC problem, that could be fixed here in the UK.

Many thanks. I'll have to take a close look at it, but I'd like to do Fusilier.

I'd be grateful to find out if this 2nd batch come with name and numberplates already fitted or just supplied. Richard
  10. I have no idea. It's not my photo.
  11. It shouldn't protrude much at all. See this pic: http://locoyard.files.wordpress.com/2013/05/044-2013-swanage-railway-swanage-class-33-crompton-33108.jpg
  12. http://www.modelrailoffers.co.uk/product/42297/3412_Heljan_MR_Class_33_Diesel_Locomotive_number_D6510 "Based on Heljan’s all-new Class 33/0 tooling, this exclusive model features BR green D6510 in mid-1960s condition with small yellow warning panels and white trim. Improvements over the old ‘33’ include fine etched metal radiator grilles and footsteps, finer handrails and a much better overall body shape." Richard
  13. BS2660-5-058 is Gossamer, a light cream: http://www.e-paint.co.uk/Lab_values.asp?cRange=BS%202660&cRef=BS%205-058&cDescription=Gossamer
  14. Model Rail today posted a factory-decorated sample of D6510, which will be their mag's limited edition https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10151919134273207 Richard
  15. Thanks. Makes for disappointing reading.
  16. Do you have a link to the discussion and photos of the Warley sample?

Yes, Menheniot viaduct. I think it used to be a timber 'fan' type as modelled at Pendon.

My method is to use double-sided 3M sellotape. Cut it to fit the plate, ideally just a fraction smaller. Sit the plate on a smal blob of Blu-Tak. Attach to the plate, then peel off the paper covering the outer sticky layer. Pick up the Blu-Tak with tweezers, press firmly onto the loco side, hold the plate down with tweezers as you remove the Blu-Tak off it. It's never failed me over the years. RWJ

Somebody in this thread returned a faulty Dapol Western to DCC Supplies, only for it to be returned with the fault not repaired sufficiently well, so he had to return it a second time (at his own cost, natch) to be repaired. Second time round, it had been repaired.
  21. The Kirow looks to be at the bleeding edge of the cutting edge of what's possible with 3D printing. Marvellous. On a geek note, I do like the use of P22JohnstonUnderground on your graphics. Good choice. RWJ

The headcode letters look a bit, well, small. Apart from that, they look wonderful. RWJ
  24. http://www.rvp-ltd.org.uk/projectx/ Looks interesting. RWJ
