  1. Hi again Dave, fellow Jones here again,

In addition to the 700 class Black Motor what about some wagons for it to pull?

Some of those road-rail trailer 6 wheel milk wagons - the wagon with a separate milk tanker road trailer (not sure of there correct name).

Both Hornby and Dapol do the 6 wheel tanker but the road trailer version isn't even available as a kit. I think these would be a winner.

    Cheers G.

  2. Are orange flavoured ones collectable too? ;)

If its been tangoed then yes! :sungum:

Also hows that 700 class Black Motor coming along I suggested earlier?   :tomato:

    Regards G.

PS. Do fellow Jones' get preferential treatment??

  3. A big yes please to an S15 , a Q Class and a 700 Class Black motor. Or just one of these, I for one would snap up a couple as I'm sure would a few other southern modellers.

No glamour here but absolutely necessary for Southern Region freight and secondary services.

Thank you Mr jones. From one to another.

    Yours Sincerely G. Jones

  4. Lovely photos. The retopped beaches are looking very good so far. I take it that is not "local sand" as it looks far too clean and nice. Do you do anything with it a la cleaning, rinsing or treating with something? As I have tried to use some local sand (Seaford/Carrum) for ballasting in the past and after a few days it started to smell decidedly unpleasant! Regards Glenn

  5. Hi Glenn. The whole layout is on castors and has been wheeled out from the window and wall to allow me to work on it from behind.

The 205 didn't run brilliantly on Frank's layout as it needed a tad more voltage. It runs very nicely on mine and I have posted a video in the DCC section, under sound videos. The camera work was a bit shaky as I was driving and filming simultaneously (Look Mum - I'm multi-tasking!!!!).   :)

Ah, forgot about the castors. My wife would love that from a vacuuming point of view!! Just watched your 205 video, sounding great. You mentioned something about modifying the speaker installation, just wondering what you did there? G

  6. Looking good as always, sir. Interesting to see the layout from that side. Was it originally closer to the window or have you moved it out?

Great to catch up last Sat. and see your new machine (205) running around at Franks, will you be posting any videos of it in the near future perchance?? Hint, hint!!

    Regards Glenn.

  7. Did the Birdcage coaches which Bachmann is to produce ever run as 2-coach sets in BR days? Just wondering as a 3-coach set is a bit long for the sort of layouts I build! If they did, what would be the combination of coaches - Brake 3rd and a Composite?

I was also wondering this for the same reasons as Julian, also would they have been used in the Dorset area in late 50's, eg. Bournemouth, the Old Road etc?? Thankyou in advance.

  8. This gem http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/21T-HOPPER-WAGON-EXPERTLY-WEATHERED-suit-bachman-Dapol-b-/251226461914?pt=UK_Trains_Railway_Models&hash=item3a7e4396da has been "expertly weathered", and has the "unique" advantage of having different numbers on each side. The seller needs VERY LARGE PRINT to get his message across to us thickos, but hasn't managed to put his precious wagon on the track properly.......

Maybe its just me but I sit reasonably close to the laptop screen when sitting at my desk and when I opened this link and scrolled down the HUGE writing was actually hurting my eyes!!

  9. Andrew,

the Nigel Gray book - The Salisbury and Dorset Junction Railway might be of some help. It has trackplan/signalling diagrams from 1910, 1912 and 1949 for West Moors. As well as some good photos and a description of each staion along the line, history etc. Cant be of specific help with building plans as have looked in the past myself unsuccessfully. However the crossing keepers cottage still exists albeit with a slightly altered facade next to the Tap and Railway pub. Some others on here I'm sure could be of help with scaling your own plans from photos, good luck Glenn

ps. if you are familiar with current day West Moors you may recognise my avatar!

  10. Not to mention the fact he calls it MIB. I'm not exactly au fait with all these modern abbreviations. Does this mean Mess In Box after the way it's been weathered?

I think it actually stands for Mummy I'm Bad!!

Kitbuilt!!!? Its not a kit and there was no building involved. Why?

  11. SNAP! I took the front coupling off my 30108 and it is on ... wait for it ... set 610! It looks the part! :)

Double snap!! Ive got 30108 trundling around my version of Castlemans Corkscrew, Set 600 tho alternating with 30029.
