I thought you would have it all finished by the weekend ;-)...
Mind them wheels don't go rusty they can be a real pain sometimes.
-
Excellent work Mr Grumpy...
Sound isn't an option these days it's compulsory... ;-)
-
for that extra hundred notes I don't think you have to buy or add anything....Provision of ashpan a reason for buying MOK as opposed to Warren Shephard. Both do 48/54/64/74xx kits but one hundred notes separate them.
I still have to build the ashpan though.
Both kits make lovely models but I know which I would buy....
-
Very useful post as I need to make an ashpan for my Shephard 74xx given the kit doesn't have one http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/95593-warren-shephard-7412/page-4. I have no doubts the general outline is the same as the 48xx
The 14xx and 48xx are both the same beast
I believe they became re-numbered when they changed the 2-8-0s during oil firing trials but I stand corrected if anyone knows better.

You are Welcome Mr Grumpy. You have done the parts proud and made an amazing job of the Dogfish.
-
Ready steady go....
You are going to love building that one almost as much as your Dogfish and tankers.....
-
Just sneak bits out Richard she will never know the difference.
I told you the other day you won't want to build another brass loco again now ;-)
-
It's looking excellent Richard keep up the good work.
Have you had a sneaky look at your 14xx yet?

Talking of keeping 0 gauge kit building alive, I have succumbed to one of these gorgeous little locos from MOK....
That's another purchase that you won't regret Mr Grumpy... It's a lovely model to build if you want some detail pictures of the one at Didcot I think it's the one on the box and in the instruction book let me know as I have a few on my PC.
There is also an online build or two on here it may be in the old archives though.

You should do them in 7mm I'm sure it would sell well
-
Mr Grumpy if you would like one of the back dating kits with the oil axle boxes and self contained buffers drop me a PM with where you would like it sent and I will pop one in the post for you FOC. I have a couple I'm not using in my bits and pieces box.

MMP used to sell a back dating kit for the Catfish with the self contained buffers and different axle boxes... I'm sure David will pop in at some point and correct me or tell you if they are still available.
-
I wish he'd buy and update Martin Finney's 7mm stuff.
I'm SURE a V2, an A3 AND an A4 were all regular visitors to Leamington.......
There are too many people paying big money for ready made toys now Jeff for people to pay big bucks for retired ranges now I fear.... We can still live in hope though....

Hello just a quick introduction, my name is Craig, I am a new convert from the 7mm gauge from 4mm gauge, here are a couple of items I have recently purchased, I have a problem, I didn't realise the boxes would be slightly bigger than the OO gauge stuff, do you think my Wife will notice ? If she does, what is the minimum radii I can use in a Sh*tty one bedroom hovel on the wrong side of town ?
Happy Modelling
Craig
Slightly bigger lol I hope your wife has no sense of size.... Welcome to 0-gauge Craig I'm sure you won't look back..

I believe that we must think on it like this, times are challenging and whilst Dapol may not go head to head (thank goodness as we dont need anymore 'duplication') yet they are competing for 'scarce resources' or in other words our 'cash'......
I dont know how they do some of their 4mm stuff for the price let alone their new 7mm offerings but good luck to them I hope they do fill some gaps and at sensible prices to..... and come to that duplications at sensible prices if they bring new blood into 7mm.....
Sorry to gatecrash your thread Brian

Do you think MTH could be nagged into making a fully sound fitted, lit and wipers and auto couplings working class 31 before Christmas?
Forgot to add.....for £300
Ask Dapol they will do you one for £250 lol

I am affraid you will have to use the Hubble telescope now to see this project coming
Isnt that typical of most things in this hobby lol.
You spend an awful lot of time waiting for things to happen.....

Well good news it that the extra brake disc etches from Graham will be coming this week so I will get the FNA's second bogie finished and then its awaiting the paintshop.....which reminds me......did you book good weather for your spray day Brian or just get lucky?
But at least once the FNA build is finished I can transfer production of the 108 from the train shed to the nice warm commandered bedroom (read winter workshop). Maybe now I have got a smooth working power bogie I can focus on the body structures.
Next on the list will be the HEAs converted to RNAs....but woe is me, they will be etched brass, I thought I had grown too old for burnt fingers and swearing under my breath!
I dont know if DC kits still do them but they used to do a hea in resin at one time there is a picture of a kit on the Migo site in the galleries follow the link below if it works.

I've just got to stages 9 and 10 in the 'instructions' and i'm struggling with folding up and locating 'all the etched, white metal and brass components' from the murky pictures of black components on a black painted underframe.
Anyone had experience of the kit who can tell me what to do with the fold lines on the brake pullers? Also, what exactly are the brake puller keepers? Anyone got a decent picture of the finished item I can follow?
Any help gratefully received!
Regards, Neal
I have a PDF of the original instructions they used to be downloadeable off the JLTRT website you can zoom in on this. If you want a copy contact me off list and I will email it to you its a pretty large file though about 3.5Mb

It's no good wanting a 9f unless you build a rake of MMP 16 tonner's to go with it though....
