Prejudice only becomes a problem when THINKING is translated into ACTIONS that affect others adversely.
I will openly admit to being prejudiced against certain groups / persuasions, but I avoid any actions that might offend those persons.
I do not feel the slightest guilt about the opinions that I hold, and I am entitled to hold them, despite loudly voiced opinions to the contrary.
Great post from someone who runs a business in this hobby...
i trust all those that are likely to be on the receiving end of your prejudiced thoughts now know to spend their money elsewhere.

It is so reassuring, from all of the response on here, that 'we' seem to be of a like mind about this incident, regardless of any allegiances we may have. THAT is reassuring, but mark my words, our hobby has its bigots, phobes and haters. The I'm not racist BUT types ate easy to spot as they inevitably actually announce they are!
Often the bigots manage to out themselves in topics such as this. Just look for the ones who get defensive rather than supportive.
Racism, homophobia, transphobia are still too widespread in this hobby, hopefully over time these dinosaurs will become extinct but it may take a meteor impact to make it happen. We can all help by being that meteor and calling such behaviour out when we see it.

Whilst I have yet to lay any track, I'm going to try neat PVA, and hold the track with again mapping pins while it sets.
My personal preference is to use dilute PVA for gluing track down, exactly the same formula as for ballast glue. I have found it better to use a building grade PVA with some level of waterproofness when dry so that ballasting doesn't cause the whole lot to move. That said I ballast in six inch stripes so as to leave a dry section between each area of wet ballast glue, then a second pass to fill in the gaps once the first areas are dry, again to prevent the track moving if the glue holding it softens.

TRS
TRS has two totally different meanings in the live entertainment industry, one lighting and one sound. For us Lampies it means Toughened Rubber Sleeve and is/was 15amp extension cables, now also expanded to include 16amp extension cables, for the noiseboys it is Tip-Ring-Sleeve, a type of jack to jack signal cable. Neither seem to be as common in usage as they were a few years back though.

I have noticed that you seem to photograph the Parkestone boat trains a lot, when I was spotting it was a train that we would go to the station to see most evenings as it regularly brought a foreign loco into Anglia.

For a loco without lights you don't even need the blanking plug, two short U shaped pieces of wire can be used - inserted into the top two holes as one link and the bottom two holes as the other. Solid wire such as fuse wire is ideal.

Setting it to record something was pointless anyway, because the TV stations started/finished a few minutes out from the published times. Even if you allowed a bit of overlap, chances are that you would miss the start/finish of a show!
Having watched a movie on TV and finding that your recording stopped short, 2 minutes before the end, meant that you had wasted the time.
My wife used to go to see if she'd caught the end. My view was NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That was MUCH worse, seeing the end of a movie, before you'd seen any of it!!

Usually not set up properly.
They should be able to resist quite a few tons of weight at the front of a music gig or similar if used correctly.
Jason
It’s car park barrier aka ped barrier. It’s designed to guide people not contain them. It is lethal and should NEVER be used in the front of a gig. They are not designed for a pushing load. If they go over the feet are sharp and will kill.
There is a case on record where they were used as a gig barrier and someone got excited and jumped up and down on the lower bar which became detached from the rods. Some of the rods became detached at the top however and entered the rib cage of the person jumping.
Pit barrier is a significantly better design with a large plate under the feet of the audience so they weigh the thing down, and diagonal bracing behind it to resist pushing forces. It also has a step in the back of it for the pit crew to assist people over it if needed. Each section is firmly bolted to the piece next to it. It will still move in case of surges though. (See video of the Manchester gig crowd surge
