Modelling disaster appears to have been averted - on saturday I poured a layer of PVA onto the riverbed of the winter scene. By sunday morning the bed itself had buckled so much it looked as if the Severn Bore was in full effect. Thankfully I left it well alone and after four days it seems to be returning to normal.

  Yeah - Allan Downes uses it. I've used Realistic Water elsewhere but wanted to try something different for the winter scene.

  so do you paint the base of what you're pouring the PVA onto, and do you do it in one pour or do you do it in layers?

  I painted the base (card) with grey acrylic but obviously that wasn't a good enough sealant. I also poured a thin layer, but I think you can go thicker. I'll try a second layer when I'm happy that the buckling has gone down completely.
