Hi everyone,
Thought I'd get in with this query before the excitement over the Green Class 37's takes hold.
I've been struggling with the bufferbeam pipework on my 37043. After looking at some of the excellent examples on here plus prototype pictures I've got the following:
Hopefully this is correct so far. I'm thinking item one below goes in the hole to the right of the coupling hook. Is this correct as it doesn't seem to fit very well? The hole doesn't seem deep enough and the moulded hose coming off the top doesn't sit well with the other pipework. Also, do I need to be fitting items two-four anywhere? I've no idea what they are.
Any help greatly appreciated.
Item 4 goes across the top of the front of the bogie once you have removed the tension lock coupling.

Hi all,
Just wanted to say a big thanks on behalf of the Charwelton into the 80s team to the Railex team for inviting us to bring the big trainset to exhibit at the show. The show had a high standard of layouts and to have been invited to exhibit along side them was an honour.
Looking forward to visiting the show again in the future as either a member of the public or with one of the other trainsets

I've checked back our records and think the only excuse you have left is the dog ate my advanced ticket!😉
Thats fr the heads up, I thought i had used that one already!! 😂
To be honest I need to keep quiet when Stan talks to me about layouts!!

Looking forward as always to making the trip North to the show. Always a great show with a very welcoming organising team and club members, Who will be pleased to know that this year the layout is a little bit smaller than last years so help won't be needed for unloading!! 😃

A big thank you (if you can pass it on please) to the band of volunteers that helped us pack the Luton on Sunday evening!
It made a big difference having assistance to move Charweltons boards and other paraphernalia to the van!
Thank You all!
Totally echo what Andy has said. When we arrived, we had what seamed to be the whole club helping unload the layout and cut down the amount of time it would have taken the advanced party to do it with just the two of us.
The show was great and the Charwelton into the 80s team all enjoyed it despite some gremlins first thing due to the heat. The hospitality of the club and the friendliness of the club members is second to none and a credit to the club.
Lastly many thanks to Stan (exhibiton manager) fo inviting us in the first place after seeing what was a short video of the layout beofre we started work on it and still wanting us after the extra 2 year wait.
Looking forward to exhibiting at the show again.
Thanks

It did manage two bricks totalling 8.6kg, equivalent to 53 Mk1 coaches but the tension lock couplings couldn't hold out any longer.
I'm sorry but I'm going to have to call an unfair test!! As you can plainly see that the coupling height of the brick wagon is wrong and your not running it on carpet.
I would expect better from your self!!

Agreed, there's one thing however that looks a bit 'off' to my eyes.
The very impressive signals which, I presume, are for main line or up loop seem to be very high up which would make sighting very difficult or impossible until the loco had actually emerged from the tunnel.
I realise that there wouldn't be much, if any, view from inside the tunnel anyway, especially in steam days. There may have been a splitting distant at the north end of the tunnel, or given the length of the tunnel more recently fitted colour lights inside the tunnel.
Even so I would have thought the signal sighting committee for the area would insist on something lower which could give somewhat better visibility.
The first signal outside the southern portal at Weekday Cross, in steam days, in Nottingham was a colour light with a position indicator (feather) for the junction with the GN Grantham line
I hesitate to criticise what is a superb 'might have been, or from my point of view, if only!' scene particularly with the excellent signal gantry as well, but it does jar a little to my eyes.
Also I don't know whether they are the original signals which came with the layout and the current owners don't wish to replace a nicely modelled set of signals with a rather mundane colour light.
At the end of the day it's their layout and more power to the collective elbow to both present a coherent and believable scenario and exhibit a large layout.
Hi,
The signals are the corrrect for the layout up to that location from the station. The issue is the distance between those signals and the tunnel is compressed on the layout as to have it all to scale we would have to add in an extra 30ft taking the layout up to 70ft long.
In real life there was also a signal at the northen end of the tunnel which would help as well.

Hi,
I am in the same position with a possible invite to Holland next year and have been looking into it and this is my understanding of the process from reading the HMRC website. Now I may totally be wrong but there are two diffrent ways of doing it and that alters what paperwok is needed or not needed depending on each method
So first thing I found was that if you are sending the layout on ahead ie the layout will be travelling on its own it would need the export and import paperwork to accompany it as it would be classed as goods.
Second is the way most of us will be doing it with it, either being in a van or a car and all you need for that is an itemsied list of the items you are taking with you i.e. 1 x layout, 15 x locos etc. This is to prove what you took you have brought back and not added anything extra i.e. 2 new locos. I also suspect that if you have fellow operators travelling then they will need to list their items separately to yours, again to prove what is how as to a customs offical it may look a bit suspisus that you are taking 35 sound fitted DCC locos.
As I said thats my understanding from reading the HMRC website and once the invite is confirmed I will be contcating HMRC about it all and I have a feeling they will only direct me to the website as they won't know either.
I will of course update you once I know anything else and hope if any one else is doing sooner rather than later, they will post up thier findings here so we can all benfit from the knowlage.

Just a quick update. The exhibition is going ahead as planned and we hope to run as near a normal show as possible. We are really looking forward to seeing everyone back after what has been a difficult two years. We have some great layouts and the usual selection of trade and societies. So make a date in your diaries please and come along to Scotland's Summer Show.
Stan
We are looking forward to finally come up to the show with Charwelton into the 80s. Be the first trip out since 2019 with it. Might have to set it up and have a test to make sure we know how to
play with,operate the train set-

Glad they're appearing in the wild now. When I did the review for the mag I only had space to hang 23 Mk1 coaches behind it; anyone fancy taking up the challenge to beat that? Photo/video evidence required of course and a bonus point if you see how many you can get it to move on speed step 1 of 126 on DCC.
There may be a plan in the pipeline* to see how many things one can move but don't tell the lads as they may ............
*Said plan may be a few months away, well till we get the big train set out next

Hello all,
So imagine my suprise to login tonight and to be greated with a few mentions in here. Not been posting for a long time in here due to one thing and another, but after recent events, you just need to be able to connect with like like minded people and what better way that first thing in the morning. Must make a point of joining in again as I'm still up early.

Baz
Having been one of the early users of RMweb (It was in the 700s when I signed up) you could never have guessed how things would deveolpe. When the software changed I was the first one of the ERs to be on the new forum so, as I put in the post, it wasn't right not to have the ER thread and its went from there.
6 hours ago, Barry O said:It also looks like we have had 25 *10000 + a few postings... lummy.. that loads. God bless you @gordon sand @LisaP4 for starting ERs and @Mr.S.corn78for its continuation on here now.
One day we can have a proper get together rather than just via Zom.
baz
I second that Baz and the first thing would be to raise a glass (or several) to @gordon s
and all those that have made their way to the great model railway club in the sky before settling down to catch up with everything ERs.
See you all soon

Hi all,
So its been a long time since the last post for various reasons but I thought it was about time we popped an update up.
So we have had a couple of working weekends, which we have had to keep under wraps as we had the pleasure to do some test runs of new items for a manufacter. the following photos will give it away
Whilst we spent some time
playing trainsworking hard for them, we did mange to get some work done on the layout to reduce the list of jobs ready for the next trip out. With regards to the next trip out we have been booked to appear at the following shows, well I say booked, its more a case of shows that have been carried over which is understandable.
So we are pleased to say we are at the following.......
2022
Perth June
Wigan October
2023
Railex May
We will let you know as and when more are confirmed.

Well by my reckoning, these lovelies should be in the UK now....................not long to go hopefully before we see these being rolled out to their new owners.
Or instead of guessing and causing a barrage of emails to them, as I'm sure they will be busy coming up with other lovely models for us to buy in the future, wanting to know where thier models are.....
We all could wait for those nice guys at Accurascale to let us know that they have arrived in the UK like they have done with all the other models they have done......

Charwelton - 'into the 80's'
in Layout topics
Posted
Hi All,
So with a slight change to the previously advestised program we won't be exhibiting at Ally Pally, but in its place we are pleased to announce that we will be attending the 2024 Darlington exhibition on the 14th and 15th September at the Oakleaf sports complex at Newton Aycliffe
We will (hopefully) have a few new additions to the stock roster and may be a few other surprises for the weekend.
This is closely followed by the Great Electric Train show in October.
With only just over 6 months till the first outing for 2024 for the layout (we are at several other shows with other layouts and demos between now and then), we best get cracking on the list of jobs.
Now where is the chisel and hammer!!
