    Hi all,
Loads going on on the bench at the moment, just at the same time as the camera goes off for a clean and a service. Bit of poor planning on my part that one.

Still here are some locos that i have been working on, just awaiting finishing touches before a coat of varnish.

    Thanks

    HI,
well Friday has arrived and another busy week, the new toys have turned up and i will post pics later once i have remembered to take some ::-faint
So first up is one of the inspection saloons, there is still a bit more work to be done on this one around the buffer beam and the sides with a few pin washes.

Also i have finished this lady, which was a conversion using the Shawplan 37/9 roof panel etched set

This Lady arrived as 37 506 at the begining of the week and is already under going work to change its identity, not sure which one to go for so a look through the stock list will be done tomorrow instead of watching the crap factor on ITV.

    Cheers
    Simon

    HI all,
Its always nice to receive parcels and this one turned up not long ago with lots of goodies in it.

Some of the bits you may recognize but a couple you may not, as they say time will tell

    Hi all,

Well where has the time gone, its been a busy start to the year already

Any way a few bits that have been crossing the bench....
HST barrier coaches, just need rebuilding and will be dropped off to their owner whilst on a train trip towards the end of Feb.

This southern region 'Dance hall' Brake van is progressing along quite nicely, only a few bits left to add.

A Lamprey for a Scottish customer which will be delivered towards the end of Feb along with a couple of other wagons, just starting work on the floor.

    Cheers

    Hi,
The basket build starts. A bit of a head scratcher to start with as the top part (which is at the bottom in this photo needs to be folder over before forming the square using the sides which limits how the basket is held under the hold and fold.

Still once that was over come i ended up with these

    On to the painting.

    Hi all,

Well after a long time lurking and reading everyone else's blogs i thought it about time i had better start one and just before a new year seamed like the ideal time to start.......of a fashion

The main reason for the blog is i have decided to try a 52 week challange. A fellow member of rmweb for the past year has been doing a 52 week challange to build a wagon/item of rolling stock each week for a year( 2010)

So me being slightly mad / crazy (as anyone who knows me B) ) decided i would try it for 2011.

I like most of us on here have many (see loads in the dictionary) kits sat in a box, or in the cupboard waiting for the day when we get round to building them and i thought i would use this as a way to get through some of them and increasing my stock levels at the same time.

There will be a few diffrent scales through out the challange, ranging from 2mmFS right up to O gauge as i have a few items in most but i mainly concentrate on 00.

How successful this will be we will see at the end of the year next year as i also have a 2mmFS layout to build and also try to keep on top of the exhibtion
apperances at shows in the North East and at the SWAG members day (i'm ment to have the 2mmFS layout attending , should learn to keep quite when people ask me things )

I have decided to have a wagon completed each week and batch paint every so offten but limit this to 4 wagons at a time and all wagons must be constructed, painted, transfers on and couplings fitted ready for a layout for it to count as completed.

So will i still have some time left i will enjoy the last few days of freedom before the off and i would like to wish everyone a Happy New Year

see you all on the other side.

    Hi all,

Well as Pugsley has mentioned on his layout blog, I have been intrusted with the task of building the track and the wiring.

When we were waiting for the Taunton Members day to open (CK, its your fault!! ) Martin and I where chatting and the subject of what i do work wise came up and as I was recalling the list, Martin happened to ask if i did layout work and would i be interested in taking on the track and wiring for his layout.

It has to be said at this point this idea was met with great enthusiasm by Mrs Pugsley who had not had the use of her Kitchen table for a few years so after a quick clean up at the hall, it was a short trip to collect the layout and whilst Martin was looking for bits to put in a box Mrs P and i set about collecting sleepers that had come loose.

So half an hour later the said boards and bits started the journey north to the point you see them now, propping the wall up in the front room of my house.

There is now a daily ritual of picking up the sleepers that have fallen off during the night to be placed in the bag with the others.

So thats the story so far and now i have the Templot track plan, the count down has begun to Taunton next year when it will be taken back to its home (hopefully not the Kitchen table )

    HI all,
I have also had a few interesting bits and pieces come through and here is one of them, some one may recognize this collection of parts that came for painting.

I believe that once its back home it will be a breakdown crane.

    Cheers

    Hello one and all,
Not sure what is going on with the weather at the moment, still its been a nice day today so thats a plus.

    The cattle wagon is progressing

It just needs some MJT W irons fitting as the mounting points for the white metal axle boxes are too far apart, luckily i have a supply of them.

I have also been painting these,

And then fitted them to these

Next step is to put a bit of paint on them.

    HI all,

This young lady came in for what i suppose you could call a re-identity from the British Steel numbered to D9517 which was based in monmouthshire in the late 60's which is where the customer asked it to be (south wales area)

Here she is with the number removed

And with the new number applied

Just awaiting on the BR Roundals to arrive in the post and then it will have a bit of corrective weathering and then it will ready for trip home.

I also have had this little bit of etch porn arrive :-tasty

In the pic we have the following:
Replacment chassis for the DJH big goods
2 X Jones Double deck sheep vans
12 X Drummond Double deck sheep vans
    2 x Meat Vans
1 X 6 Wheel 11T brakevan (another couple still to arrive)
    1 X 4 wheels 20T Brakevan
    2 X Open carraige truck

So a little bit of soldering work and burning of fingers to do
    Cheers
    Simon

    Hi all,
Its very busy at the moment due to various reasons, one of which i have already commented on else where.

I have had these two ladies pass by the bench recently for sound fitting, it was a nice change to be working with large scale items

    And this lady

Both have been fitted with Loksound XLs with bass reflex speakers in either the boiler area or under the tender in between the frames. Both sound quite loud, well i was asked to turn them off as the better half could hear then trough 3 closed doors!!!

    Cheers
    Simon

    Hi all,
Ive had a few corrective jobs in recently and this is one of them. The name had been removed prior to the owner buying it and as you can see the nameplate and the paint benith it had also been removed so a bit of touching up is called for

You may also remember this lady from a few posts ago, well i have now decided on which loco to do so a little bit of painting is needed

The new numbers have arrived so I'm now just waiting on the fan grills and a couple of other etched parts to arrive

I have also been working on these two which are part of a set of three and these needed to have the numbers changed

    Cheers
    Simon
ps just noticed my camera lens needs a good clean. Best add that to the list of jobs.

    Hi all,
Its been a while since any updates due to work and also having to fit 4 day trip to Scotland in to the equation but as you can see from the pics it was worth it. Well i thought it was (not the early starts tho.)

Anyway, a quick update whilst i am waiting on the postman. I have been working on a 24 which came in for a bit of dirt slapping (im guessing thats is a technical term as i saw it on a model railway weathering facebook page)

There is still the detailing to be added to the buffer beam once i have added a few more effects to the cab front.
    Cheers
    Simon

The body and tender fell together without too many issues apart from the usual flash on the moldings.

The chassis was built pretty much OTB using the DJH motor and gearbox with a little bit of modifcation to enable tension lock couplings to be added at the end.

    HI all,

Not had chance to take some pics of the work done on the etches so far as i have run out of hard disk space on the old pc so i cant convert the pics on the camera.

Still here is a pic of a Euro cargo 66 that i was asked to weather and add the detailing to one end.

A 37 for the same treatment

    Hi all,

Due to a number of reasons I have failed on complete week one, which is a annoying as i am really motovated to do this.

This week I have been mostly busy with life, websites, re-pricing, some more re-pricing, fixing other peoples models and a little bit of DCC chipping for other people which has a net result of no time left for me

I think i have to give up work just to do this.

The upshot of all this is that i have lerant new skills for working on websites which will come in handy once in a while.

I do have tomorrow to fill whilst waiting for the gas company to come and change the meter so i can crack on with the first kit, just need to decide which one it will be

still back off to the website and see you all soon
    cheers
    Simon
