  1. Yes sound idyllic, from this overcast and gloomy corner of dear ol' blighty. Having been on NVR last weekend made me think I should really get out of the smoke more and see some other lines.. Guess Bluebell would be first contender, but then there is the GC and all those ones way out west! tom.

  14. Well I thought I would put some thoughts down, as I am still thinking about the possibilities of 3mm. I have always wanted to do some L(NE)R based in the Pennines, having seen in RM David Jenkinson's Marthwaite and being bitten by it as I was close-ish to where I grew up. Also having access to Wensleydale Branch made me want to model that too and in the early days I made a very 'loose' interpretation of it in my bedroom on an 8x4 L shaped chipboard layout. Having moved on some what I now think this would be an idea balance of space and style. Thinking about the plan in my first blog I think that might lend its self to my ponderings, and have done some rough artworks and 3D modellings with Sketchup, but until the images issue is sorted here I will post later. Looking around at the 3mm society website and various others I think some NER stock can be bodged together and I think a period of the wars years would provide the most volume and varied traffic. With some local trip loads and some through bulk freights, along with varied passenger and military transports. Anyway things a bit frantic at work at moment so probably nothing will germinate until after Christmas, but we'll see and of course there are all the other plans and ruminations to consider. t.
  15. DD I think it will take a bit of getting use to it, but I am starting to feel a bit more stable and know which buttons to press.. At first I had doubts about layouts of posts etc, and still don't like the green on the comments in blogs, but I am getting use to.. tom.

  20. Morning all Seem to have gotten into a pattern of waking up at 05:30am and not sure how to break it as dont need to be awake till 06:30, maybe its the excitement of being back on rmweb! anyway glad all things are restored now. Had a bit of a scare last night as had a meal that was made for me that had some tiny shards of glass in due the bottle of sauce being used being dropped and then thought all was ok to use, but when pored in added some 'bits'. Swallowed to my knowledge 2 bits, rang NHS Direct in a panic and got some dozy mare that wanted to keep asking my postcode @??*^ Not what you need when in agitated state. So I have made it through the night! All may ok now.. must say I was a bit concerned last night though Anyway, pitch black here but nice hot mug of sweet tea to calm the nerves Have a great day. t.

  22. Congrats Stu, its a worrying time for all in the IT industry at the mo, so glad you made it back in.. I use to work with so many of those BOFH's in my past.. you can still get them on theregister.co.uk t.
  23. Well after typing in a lengthy post it all went wrong, so I am going to give the abreviated version. Went to Festival of Railway Modelling, although there were a number of quality layouts there I came away feeling that it was a bit of a let down, I know times are hard at the moment, but I guess I was expecting a bit more. One the plus side I saw West Harptree, which has got the juices flowing, but adds another scale to the yo-yo! anyway more thoughts on that to follow. Went to NVR as have pasted it for so many years and thought it was about time. Weather was not brill but was a grand day out.. Here follows some pics from the day. t.
  24. Hello Don and all.. the nervous sweats can stop and ERers can return to normal.. Off for my training session now.. happy days. t.
