  1. Hi Pete. It's been fascinating following developments from the original boxfile. Two thoughts:

    1) There's no problem having the BG in the middle formation, most BGs were fitted with cages. Moreso, I've walked through several 'uncaged' BG's as well in the past. MBM have connectors for Mk1s as well: http://www.mbmodelrailwayproducts.co.uk/n-gauge-products

    2) You acn double head with your 37s - just run them around one at a time. You could use the excuse that a particular type of heat was required for the stock, ie by keeping either the steam 37/0 or eth 37/4 coupled inside to the coaches.

I hope 'll be able to catch up with Kyle in the flesh at some point!

One of these days, i'm going to succumb to a certain retailers discounts. Whilst i could live with a 33/1, a /0 would make more sense. I was wonderin, did you consider cutting the cabs below the window line (by the mould line), which would have avoided any potential problems with the curved roofline? - or simply adding a plasticard insert to the buckeye cutout?

Just wondering, as it's a job i hope to be doing in the future. Cheers!

  3. To be honest I wouldnt buy anything from the old Shawplan range these days, the chances are at some point in the future it will all end up being replaced with much finer stuff given that for the most part the old range just isnt an improvement over the originals.

That said there is still a place for it, as I'm sure a fair few people will moan at the price of the new version in comparison with the old (the new ones are priced at ??10.50 per loco). If you havent used the etch yet and would prefer the new version, probably worth dropping Brian an email and seeing if you can arrange to return them and buy the new ones.

He has also just released new versions of the Class 56 roof grills, (and a bunch of other new 56 bits) and has a class 50 roof grill nearing completion as well....

Thanks for the reply Rich. To be honest, i'll stick with the ones i have, as they'll be a visual improvement over the Vi ones.

Those new ones do look the dogs danglies though......
