  1. Ill grab some once the littleuns gone to bed
  2. I think Northern and Orange/Black were both listed in the leaflet Charlie had at Blyth, I'll have a look later on. Having purchased the First Saltire version I have to say it's an impressive beast. There are a couple of realisations though: a) I wish I'd waited for DCC fitted as it's cheaper than buying the 2 bloody chips separately. b) The Limby model isn't half bad - the two don't look jarringly different next to each other and with a few minor mods the Limby bodyshell could easily be brought up to standard. The underframe is the obvious letdown - I wonder if Realtrack could be convinced to sell underframe parts as spares since the Hurst kit seems highly unlikely to be re-released (I've been waiting 10 years for it myself and I believe others have been waiting longer still). Can't comment on the mechanism as I'm still waiting on the chips to arrive but I'm sure the Realtrack will be an improvement. Detailing a couple of Limby carriages to run as a dummy unit is a tempting option right now (assuming it has the haulage power).
  3. Not yet I'm afraid, very much an 'as and when' project. The entire layout measures just 70cm x 40cm and is constructed on a scrap of ply I got for 90p from a local DIY store (that'll teach SWMBO to send me for fencing timber). Here's a quick photo of what I have so far, apologies for the poor quality (as I'm sure you can tell from the shadow it's taken on my phone).
  4. I've incorporated dice rolls into some of mine (e.g. to select which wagon is faulty or how many moves it takes to repair a wagon/loco etc.) I've been using https://www.thegamecrafter.com to create the cards as they seem very reasonably priced.
  5. I really hope all the accuracy issues get sorted out - it just wouldn't do to have something 0.75mm out when I paint it dark green & stick Emily's face on the front for my daughter. In all seriousness, thanks to rapidobill for the updates (and tolerance shown). It's little wonder why some manufacturers don't share this type of information with the public given the course of this topic.
  6. Hi SteveT, as far as I know the following are up to date: 37 Glanton Road, Billymill, North Shields, Tyne and Wear NE29 8TL 0191 257 6716 alexandermodels@fsmail.net
  7. 2 months on since the original order the shop still has my money and I don't have the products. Despite the items being shown as in stock they actually weren't but were “included in an order currently on its way to us now" as of June 15th. Having had no response to recent contacts I think it will soon be time to pursue a refund through other means. I'll let you know how I get on.
  8. Can't say their recent albums were to my taste but Hybrid Theory and Meteora (purchased from Woolworths) were the soundtrack to my teenage years
  9. I thought the same rob but Andy put the weight of the Oxford wagons at roughly 1/3 of the Hattons...suppose I could stick some lead inside the warrior.
  10. Thanks for that JSpencer, saves a scalemates search later in the day. Is there any consensus on which offering is more accurate between the Revell & Trumpeter?
  11. In the interests of accuracy, the diagrams are in the December 2006 Rail Express Modeller and not in Model Rail as I initially thought (although some of the older MRs do have useful prototype photos).
  12. I think 1/72 is the best we're likely to get unless Oxford take the plunge - haven't seen the Cromwell Models 1/76 version anywhere for quite some time. I have the Trumpeter 1/72 version in the stash, I wonder if it's the same kit reboxed.
  13. Thanks Brian, that's certainly given me a starting point. I'm modelling MoD narrow gauge so restrictions I think will be more load-based rather than size-based.
  14. Looking good Ed, I have a 1/72 warrior in the stash myself although I'm hoping for a repop of one of the 1/76 kits. What are your thoughts on the straps? I'm toying with the idea of trying Justin's ratchet straps from scalemodelscenery. I think if I have a diagram from an old Model Rail if you need references.
  15. Here's an example of the type of card I'm referring to. I developed the format myself based on a template from an online custom trading card game maker that seems very reasonably priced:
  16. Hi all, the Inglenook feature in this month's Model Rail caught my interest and, in particular, the use of situation cards to provide additional challenge/flavour alongside the shunting manoeuvres. Whilst I have a few ideas of my own for the Inglenook I'm working on I'd be curious what 'situation cards' other modellers have found work well? Thanks in advance, Stu
  17. I'd certainly be interested if cradles were to be produced. Ed - have you given any though to how you'll tackle the deck extensions?
  18. Hi all, does anyone know if the 009 society still has these vans in stock? Thanks, Stu
  19. Has anyone measured up an S&S warrior? Are they strict 1/72?
  20. I was surprised to find no mention of the inaccuracies in Hatton's post-2000 warwell, but no review can be perfect. Ultimately I prefer the MR reviews to those found in other publications.
  21. That biffa skip certainly looks the part, very nice.
  22. Looking good - how did you go about marking and cutting the plasticard to fill between the rails if I might ask? Those look like they might be the scalemodelscenery.co.uk barriers. If so, how have you found them? I was unsure about the finish with them being 3D printed, but they work out considerably cheaper than the resin ones from Kingfisher Miniatures.
  23. Hi Pete, it may well do just as you say but I believe the main reason for the cradle is to help the Warrior clear lineside infrastructure (particularly platform edges). Hopefully now the warwells are released someone will resurrect either the BW Models or Cromwell Models Warrior in 1/76. I'm not convinced that a 1/72 Warrior is going to look sensible given how tight the clearances are in reality, although I have a Trumpeter one to build up and test. Regards, Stu
  24. There are a couple of kits for the ramp wagons out there. Wild Boar Models has a WW2 one: https://www.shapeways.com/product/ZPPKG3M2D/ww2-built-ramp-wagon Genesis Kits have one too, not sure if it's the same prototype: http://www.petersspares.com/genesis-wk206-moda-ramp-wagon-pewter-kit-4mm-scale.ir
  25. Indeed, I have an article somewhere which mentions the specific locations a train loaded with Warriors can be reversed/run forwards without fouling lineside infrastructure. I can hunt it out if it's of interest to people.
