The 225-style livery does suit them rather well.

While it may sound harsh, that is entirely the buyer's problem. I'm completely against misleading sales, but for an item like those pullman boxes where it's clearly stated multiple times, the seller can't be held at fault in my opinion.

There are some which are a bit misleading - eg the earlier Judge Judy reference - but those pullman boxes are clearly identified both in the title and description.

A quick look at the paper for the auction shows not only item weight, but dimensions and battery life. How a photo printout can have a battery life is beyond me. It's shameful that ebay let it reach this stage, really. Should have been reversed and the seller struck off as a clear scam artist without question, especially after the appalling trick with feedback and the number of other cases against her. Her ruse to make $467 ended up costing her $5000, plus I imagine whatever court costs may apply. Yet she still has that smug attitude in the closing shots, guess she has the money to burn.

I think what HJ is getting at is that the mechanism is fresh from the box, and that the entire loco was mint in box before he started his process. Completely agree that it could be better worded, however. It begs the question though, if a loco is purchased new and sent to a professional for a respray/weathering, is it no longer new? It is clearly no longer mint, but new? Has it ever turned a wheel? By ebay's revised definitions, HJ's locos should certainly be listed as used - as should most of the 'new' locos which have "only been test run".
  7. I'm not sure you'd be able to call your efforts in 4'x1' a railway. Surely it'd be Heb on a plinth, pretty much?
  8. Oh you utter tease, Charlie. Based on the CAD seen so far, I don't think sales will be a problem.
  9. Looking good Carl, I have a few of these too - Lima pedigree I believe. I'm thinking of replacing them, though, as they are based on the wrong chassis length (it's really noticable if I run them with my Bachmann stock which is the correct length).
  10. I'd just like to remind the participants of this thread that it's downright underhanded to take prototype photographs and photoshop them so they look like they're on your workbench. I've reported this thread to the mods and expect appropriate action to be taken shortly...how no-one has spotted what you're up to before Page 12 is beyond me... Seriously, however, I remain in awe of this project and am eternally grateful that I don't have the room to house one of these on my layout.

I have to agree with the seller here...after all... "intercity is good"

The responses to questions on his Mk.3 coaches are priceless. Q: Is the item boxed? So it's boxed, then, presumably? Q: Who is the manufacturer , and what is the manufacturers number on the box? So it's a brand new boxed item...for which you've lost the box...? Given the seller's zero feedback and poor communication, I think I'll avoid ta.

Tail? I'll get me coat... "Would grace any layout" is rapidly becoming a personal pet hate.
  14. Well, I think that at least one of these will be heading my way. Now if only Hornby would do a 142 to the same standards.
  15. That looks great jo *Ponders some custom transfers*
  16. Don't despair, you can just tell people your photoshops are accurate representations of my attempts to repaint a model

Picked up a bargain myself this week, Hornby's new GNER HST power cars, DCC factory fitted, brand new in box - £68.

    Crikey, that's a tidy little mark-up.

In the interests of keeping the topic open, I'd steer clear of that particular political minefield. The seller gives no indication of any inclination of that nature, only that he's had bad experiences in the past posting items abroad.

All that drivel about posting conditions, an attempt to force the buyer into a contract (by bidding you accept the above etc etc) which I'm fairly sure is against ebay's terms of use, slagging off four countries, and the best description he can muster is "see photos for details". Maybe uploading some would be a good start then?

  22. Andy is quite good, but that looks nothing like Mod6. He's all like, green, and scaly... Loving the shot through the tunnel, did you give much thought to camera angles when designing the layout or just strike it lucky?
  23. It seems to me that the idea has been creeping into the country steadily from Europe, especially with some of the more expensive German models. I've noticed an ever increasing number of BMWs and Audis with bright LED-style 'running lights' which seem to be always on. In average conditions, they thankfully don't seem to cause too much glare/dazzle (presumably because they're designed to improve the visual profile of the car, not light the road ahead). I can only assume this is an idea taken from the American market where such things are commonplace.

In fairness, to the untrained eye, classes 37 and 55 are visually similar - moreso than peaks etc.
