What you have all been waiting for, haven't you? The Heljan Class 73 first pre-production sample that I have just painted. It has a working flash on the bogie that can be operated only on DCC with a function key and it gives a random flash now and again. Unfortunately the big etched rad grill was missing on the side when this got sent over hence why it's not there. It takes an ESU plug in chip and the ESU speaker screws into the roof then just plugs into the chip, easy! All the flat section style handrails are metal. I got to sort out a better colour for the yellowy Formica in the cabs this is a bit too green. Model will be sold without a headlight as well as with like here. It will have a radio antenna and the spark guards for you to fit if required. The bogies have a lot of details on them including separate wire air lines.

Next bit was to change the doors to roller type which takes away a bit of the top of the opening as it's a bit tall. Guttering was added with L shaped plastruct and downpipes made from brass rod. The clamps to attach it to the wall are 3D prints from Modelu. The front clock is a dolls house one from ebay.

Where does time go! I haven't been sat on my laurels but I have been building a Heljan diesel depot with a few additions. I have had to leave one bay out as that makes it too long to fit on this layout without major surgery and it was just not worth the effort. First thing to do was to clad the roof with Slaters plasticard corrugated sheet. I got hold of some 3D printed mushroom vents for the roof, not maybe 100% correct but it adds something to the roof.

Had trouble identifying this van with offset doors - no numbers!
Stratford, it came round the curves behind a 37 in 1985. Seemingly freshly painted markings, especially the DO NOT OIL by the suspension. Are some of the markings incomplete (the ones with "LIFT" in the centre)? Paaintwork somewhat patchy. No visible maker's plate either:
I got one of these at Oxford on the Bicester trip no doubt. See it's got a number panel but no number in it and it's vac blow through and air braked.
