First is an Easybuild CK W15863 Easybuild FK W13359 Easybuild FK W13351 Easybuild RMB W1811 Next is a Slaters Conflat and BD Container This one is part of the 45 ton Ransome & Rapier steam crane and supporting coaches. It is the Tool Van which is scratch built out of plastikard. I cant remember what type of coach it was origanally converted from. I will try and find the info later. Rob
  3. Hi all, I have recently started a " garden railway " build in the " Outdoor Model Railways " section and thought i would start a workbench to show some of the rolling stock i have and am working on to be used on my railway. This will be ongoing and show quite a bit from loco's, carriages and other stock. Here are a couple of pics to start with. Here is a pic of 3 x TSO's that have been sprayed blue/grey and then been masked off with the roof grey been sprayed. This pic shows the seat master which a friend of mine will use to make a mould and cast some seats for my Mk2's. Here we have some already cast and painted. I will take some more pics of my stock and post on here soon. Hope you like. Rob
  4. Hi Seb, I am in the process of building my first ever Garden Railway and i have opted for O gauge and chosen the radio controlled option. ( of course there are lots of choices open to you ) . I decided on radio control because you dont need to worry about wiring any track. The system i am using is A1Micromotive for the radio controlled if you wish to take a look at his website. Although there are again other options. Rob
  5. Yes Sean i hope so . I have 5 complete bar the glazing at the moment but no pic yet. This consists of 4 x TSO and a BFK . But i have 2x TSO's and 2x FK's on the workbench. Rob
  6. Hi Sean, hope you dont mind i have put a couple of pics of my Mk2 progress so far. Rob
  7. This is more or less where i am todate.I have started to fit the new boards down the side of the lawn and will get roofing felt and track on asap then i will feel that i am back to where i was before i had to take it up. Although i have done a lot more around the garden than i had. I will post up-dates on this project as soon as i have anything to report. But as its p"**"*g it down here i guess that wont be for a while. Hope you like. Rob
  8. This had been down for about 18 months well less probably but i am now using some board called Medite Tricoya.Plus i have altered slightly the way i was supporting the boards. I am now using 4" x 2" between each post and using stainless steel screws down the centre of the boards. There are two galvanised brackets bolted through the posts so they will pull against each other if any serious weight is put on them. OK onto the stage where i am at now.
  9. Then it goes around the bottom of the garden and joins up with the section at the start of this thread running up the side of the lawn. Now the story behind this is that there is quite a bit more to show ( which i will do ) but the original board that i had put down had to be re-placed as it hwd de-laminated ( this was Phenolic Ply ) which is supposed to be great for out door work and wasn't cheap. So here are some pics of that stage. The next stage to this was i put roofing felt down and some track.
  10. OK the next set of pics show the route will follow the edge of the garden along the fence , going behind the greenhouse. The next pic show looking back up the garden. The route will then curve round the edge of the pond and will cross a viaduct . The railway will sit on top of the brickwork around the pond and the route of the viaduct can be seen in the last pic looking back towards the pond. Rob
  11. Hi all, I haven't posted anything on here for a while so i thought i would share my planned garden railway. This project has been on-going for a while now so i will post pics of when i started and gradually arrive at the stage i am at now. My plan is to have a garden railway set in the late 60's / early 70's and from the Western Region. This is so i can run my favourite locos Class 52 Westerns .I will also have Class 45 and Class 46 Peaks plus Class 47's and Class 42 Warships. The stock will range from Mk1's and Mk2's, Mk1 sleepers , TPO's , Parcels , Motorail's , Breakdown Train and a small amount of freight ie 12ton box vans etc. This is because eventually i will have a 36' x 10' shed at the bottom of the garden where i will build a layout based on Penzance in the space available. OK enough waffling here are some pics from the start. This shows concrete posts being put in down the edge of the lawn. This will be built up by railway sleepers and in-filled with soil so that planting can take place. The railway will pas through this wall and then curve round to the left . The last couple of pics show the posts being put in around the top of the garden. The route of the railway will travel from the fancy wall and go from right to left in the last pic. Showing in the pic before the last cuving round and will run down the edge of the fence. More to follow. Rob
  12. Hi Sean, As regards couplings i have used Kadee's #805 for the inner rake ( easy to couple and uncouple) and JLTRT drop head buckeye for the outer end two vehicles. Although they were about £11 per pair they look nice. I am now thinking of altering a Kadee so it will drop but it is only at the thinking stage. Your pics of the finished coaches look fantastic. PS dont forget to have a look on Western Thunder forum. You will see quite a bit of my stuff on my workbench. Rob
  13. Hi Sean, The pics of the coach look excellent you have made a fantastic job. All you need now is another 6 or 7 to make the rake. You are doing a BG so would just need the 6 or 7 more mk2's to make a very nice rake. The hinges are Easybuild, you always get spares on the etch fret and over the year with the several Easybuild coach kits ive made i have accumulated quite a lot of spare hinges. Rob
  14. Hi guys, I agree about the price of transfers and the prices seem to go up all the time. I have just placed an order to Fox for white lines and corners plus some coach numbers and when i proceeded to checkout i was shocked to see it was going to cost me £35. The only saving grace is that this will be enough for about 8 x coaches as oppossed to about 4 with the HMRS sheet ( when its in stock ). I dont know if this will help but as regards masking when the hinges are on , i found it to be a nightmare. I now pre-drill all holes for the hinges but leave them off untill i have lined the coach then glue on . I then touch in with Railmatch paint ( from the small jars ). This process works for me. BTW Sean thanks for the info about the transfers. I am now waiting for a little warmer weather so i can get some primer then black on the chassis for my big big mk2's. I have also got together with a couple of mates and ordered some window etches for the bodies. Rob
  15. Great work Sean. May i ask who's transfers did you use for the white lining?. I have added a pic of the progress on my mk2 underframes. Rob
  16. Hi Sean, Ooops your right they should'nt have a middle arm rest. Now removed. I have spent a bit of time today looking a first class mk2's so probably got confused. or a simple lad like me it doesnt take much. I'm looking forward to your next progress report. Rob
  17. Hi Sean, Just thought i would post a pic of the seat master i have just finished. I am now finishing the double seat that would fit against the partition wall. Rob
  18. Hi Sean, I will be watching this build with interest , having built several Easybuild Mk1's i find the kits to be very user friendly and make up to be a nice coach. I too left off the hinges until i had sprayed the coaches in there livery ( make sure you have checked all hinge positions are all pre- drilled ). I then fixed them in with superglue using a cocktail stick and glueing from inside the coach . These can then be touched in with paint. I noticed your bogies , you haven't fitted the wheels yet. This may cause you a problem. I always fit ( push fit ) the bearings into the sideframes and build the bogies up with the wheels as to get them level this is where a piece of glass comes in handy. I am just finishing ( well not just because its been lat this stage for several weeks while i've been working on the Mk2's ) an Easybuild Mk1 TSO. I've just fitted the tables. and here are pics of a couple of my Mk1's Sorry for the hyjack of your thread. Oh BTW Shawn at Easybuild will supply you with whichever type of bogie you want for that coach eg B4 , BR1 or Commonwealth etc. if you tell him at the time of purchase. Rob
  19. Here's a couple of pics of my undergubbins so far. Although this has been done to 4x TSO's. Rob
  20. Thanks Sean, much appreciated. Right off to do some more work on the undergubbins. Rob
  21. Hi Vin, Very impressive. I too am at the stage of making a master so i can mould some seats ( well a lot actually, as i have 7x TSO's ). Would it be possible for you to take a couple of pictures of the underframe detail. Im mainly looking at the vacuum cylinder and what goes around it. Rob
  22. Nice work there Sean on the seats. Do you have any close up pics or help of the fittings/arms that work the vacuum cylinders ( sorry if this is the wrong terminology). I have fitted two vac cylinders to the underframes but now need to detail around them with the linkage etc. ooking forward to your next installment. Rob
  23. Hi Sean, that's a lot better looking pipe. I will use that idea on mine. I am just working on those boxes at the moment. Rob
