  1. Cheers mate . They dont actually cost much either . The biggest cost are the bogies and the cars .Painted the underframe it's first coat yesterday, so another coat should do then paint the ends, put the motorail signs on ,transfers, bogies and then weathering. Mmmmmmm more work than i had thought, ah well soon be done . Then fix the cars Cheers Rob
  2. Hi Mike, do you mean Rob or has Phill been talking to you about his GUV. If its mine then i have the bogies and its just a case of spraying it up when the temperature warms up (not for a while then ) Cheers Rob
  3. Hi Phill. Both easybuild. There very nice moldings, clean etc. Never used there bogies before but i will be again. Hows your GUV coming on Rob
  4. I suppose now Pugsley you feel a bit of a plank . Only joking, well it was nearly a joke.
  5. This is the motorail flat ( my 2nd of 3 to scratch build). I have tried to show the general construction with these pics. I have done most of the underframe detail except the brake levers. The only other thing i have to do is paint it ,then i can add the Motorail signs, chocs and of course CARS . also i 've got to fit the buckeye couplings as well. These last two pics are the BG and as you can see it's not started yet. I hope to do a little work on this this weekend. This will be drill holes in the body for the roof vents, door hinges, door stoppers and door handles and hanrails.
  6. Here are a few pics of the small amount of progress. These are the Ian Kirk siphon G . I have plated over the planking and re-planked the doors and ends with vertical planking. As you can see there is still a long way to go but you get the general idea. This is the Westdale GUV. The body is just about ready for primer. The underframe is also not far off complete. I think only the dynamo belt to solder on. The pics show it with underframe and bogies, however these are not fixed yet . This will be done after the painting is finished.
  7. I have done a little work on my second motorail flat and hopefully post some pics over the weekend . I will also post some pics of my syphon g so far. This i have had to alter as i made a big mistake in the purchase of it. Just concentrating on it being inside frame i forgot to look whether it was vertical or horizontal planking . Guess what i got the wrong one horizontal instead of vertical . After some research i found i could alter the doors and plate over the rest like W1325. This vehicle was modified like this to carry NEWSPAPERS. I also have a Westdale GUV which is almost ready for primer,so will post pics of that too. Finally i have a Westdale BG which i havent started yet but hope to make a start this weekend. Happy Modelling...... Rob
  8. Hi Alcazar, I am modelling Buccaneer early 70's. She damaged the plate during a accident of some kind and after a while running like this Laira decided to remove the damaged plate,so she ran without it on that side for about 8 months before entering Swindon works for an overhaul, where she eventually received a new nameplate. Rob
  9. Hi Ian, I'm watching this with interest. I too want to build some 6-wheel milk tanks. Please keep those progress pics coming
  10. OK, Since i seemed to have deleted my blog for some unknown reason (havent got a clue how i managed that ) i will start again. Firstly i know i'm going to repeat myself for a short while but it's just to get back on the same thread, so please bear with me. This is a picture of D1018 Western Buccaneer with engine and boiler (theatres) fitted. Here is a close up of the engine/boiler theatres before i fitted them to the other side. As you can see these were made with various pieces of plastic section and wire, using a piece as a back to fit them onto. I used packing pieces down each side to create the impression of the walkway between the window and the engine.
  11. Hi Brian. Well all i can say is " thats a REAL 26 is'nt it ?" Fantastic work.
  12. Hi Jordan, only just found your new thread . I am looking forward to this one , class 14 eh great stuff.
  13. Hi Owen, Now you've sussed the downloading of pics on the new site, don't forget the western thread please mate.

  14. Hi Dan, looking forward to the progress reports . I'm still trying to understand the new RM Web but i will get there as i looks great, just not sure what i'm doing yet. Rob
  15. 10/01/2010 This is a progress report on my attempt at scratch building Penzance Signal Box during the 1970's. This is for my model (layout) of Penzance, which at present i havent even built my garden shed for it to go into. Soon i hope.
  16. These are the next few pics of progress. They show the first stages of painting the brickwork. I have given the mortar its first coat and the bricks have had the first stage. Next will be a slightly different shade of brick colour. This will be done several times to create the different colour/texture of the bricks. Once this has been done then i will give the mortar a slightly different texture at various places , so that it is not a uniform colour. Then i will paint the concrete lintels. Once i have done this i will continue with the windows. Rob
  17. These are a few of the first stages of painting the brick work. I have done the mortar and the first covering of brick. This will be repeated several times to (hopefully) create to right look for the different colours of brick. Once i have done this i will then add a different colour/texture to the mortar in various places. Then i will paint the concrete lintels. Rob
