  1. A slight detour from yet another building………the Farish TARDIS police call box arrived in stock this week. I found a suitable figure to alter to become the 4th Doctor ( the scarf is hand knitted…..OK it’s a a bit of heat shrink tubing) along with one for Sarah Jane and a bit of square section plastic became K9.
  2. It is a 6B…I have two MBSs and the TFK on order. The Buffet and TS vehicles will be ordered later. I have always wanted to have Hastings unit having travelled on many Merrymaker excursions in them and on their home territory. Power will be supplied by a Farish 4CEP that I bought to be a 4TC substitute towed by a class 73 on the Kenny Belle. Building the 4TC set meant that the 4CEP was surplus. I’ll post some photos when it arrives.
  3. I’ve just ordered half of what I think will be quite a big project , from Shapeways. It’ll be a couple of weeks before the postman is thumping on the door(clue! ). I’ll order the rest once I’ve received the first part and am happy I can complete it and it won’t cinque(another clue).
  4. At the other end of the scale I’ve added a load to one of the BRUTE trollies….some 1981 Motorail brochures…….couldn’t find my 1980 brochure so some time travel is required!
  5. The last wall of the set of Mews houses has now been constructed, some minor bits to complete on the model as a whole.
  6. Two walls out of three now complete on the rear of the Mews houses. Roof tiles done bar the ridges. The Replitek Mini van has had a repaint for a florists.
  7. My Dad did manage to get the van on its side once, but that was due to someone coming out of a side street (car not a pedestrian!) and not giving way, hitting the side and tipping it over. No injuries other than to the van which several passers by helped righten. It pushed the door handles through the fibre glass doors. It got repaired but was never the same again. I think I remember reading that when they tipped them over on Top Gear that JC was turning far more than you would normally to take the corner to make it tip over. Never liked them but have fond memories as a kid travelling to holidays. The one and only time I swore at my Mum was when she foolishly took me on a driving lesson around Bevendean Industrial Estate in Brighton.
  8. Finally got round to repainting the Reliant Supervan III. I used a Tamiya acrylic which was very close to the original cars colour. Details picked out with paint pens. Front glazing is plasticard, the rest are Krystal Klear. The only difference between the model and my Dads was that his had side windows in the van area.

  11. A bit more progress with roof tiles added on the “finished” side. I’ve now made a start on the side that faces the railway line. Won’t be any progress for a couple of days as I’m at work….at least I can get a pot of Tamiya XF59 Dessert Sand which is what I’m using for London brick.
  12. Got to some good work in today with the street side of the Mews buildings almost finished. One wall to trim and fit and add glazing. The back yard side will probably get started tomorrow. Warning bare backside photo!
  13. A little bit of progress with the next building, two walls on, painted and weathered.
  14. They didn’t do a guide book so I’m working on memory…….and we know where that could end up! I think it was Charnwood Forest an O gauge layout from the Soar Valley MRC. The 8th and last photos are also from the same layout.
  15. Yesterday saw me brave the lack of snow in York and travel to Harrogate…well Hornbeam Park, to visit the Harrogate Model Railway and Engineering show. After a two hour wait for a train due to a tree down at ironically Hornbeam Park I eventually got there. Don’t understand why a York to Harrogate shuttle wasn’t operated but hey ho, this is the railway of today. First time I’ve been to this show and very good it was too, loads of room, good layouts and some excellent model engineering.
  16. Olympia Service Station has also finally gained its canopy.
  17. Well it’s March already just over two months to the NRM show. I’ve finished the next building carcass which is now starting to gain some walls. These will be Mews type houses.
  18. I can thoroughly recommend the St Austell brewery advent calendar 25 bottles of goodness, including some from Bath Ales that they also own.
  19. Not much done today, got the next building carcass base measured out and cut and a couple of end walls added. I’ve had quite a lot of 3D printed bits and bobs lying around in draws for a while so some got attacked with a rattle can or two. Lots of chimneys, two telephone boxes, which can be seen in the background ( The PECO ones are better ), four post boxes and some B.R.U.T.E.s. Bit sad but I’ve added the PVC retaining curtains and marked the handbrakes!
  20. A delivery today from the Really useful box Co….a very long box which the long run of town houses will fit it. Even Charles House will fit in it…….and looks like every other building that isn’t glued down! A couple of squarer boxes also came which will take the Controllers, cables and layout essentials.
  21. The bracket signal is finished, might need a bit of weathering.

  23. It’s a Wolseley Hornet, it and the Riley Elf were based on the Mini and built with an extended boot with rear wings and of course the vertical radiator grill. ODC do the Elf in 1/76.
  24. From their website ETCHED PIXELS Etched Pixels / Ultima is now closed. Apologies for the rather more sudden closure but due to a huge rise in costs renewing things like insurance it made no sense to stay open until April as planned. Further announcements on the range will follow as and when there is news. Pending orders will be shipped in the next few days. No new orders will be accepted. Shapeways 3D Print files Ultima wheels were provided by Markits THANK YOU FOR YOUR CUSTOM OVER THE YEARS. Etched Pixels Digital Design, LLwyncelyn, 5 Richmond Villas, FFynone Road, Swansea, SA1 6DQ Mastodon It looks like the items made via Shapeways are still available through Shapeways. Lots of useful mainly N gauge items now no longer available.
