  1. But the Bachmann range is based on the TV series models, whilst the earlier books are clearly proper railway locomotives. As others have said, don't hold out too much hope....
  2. Bridge repair work, plus a bit of flag waving at depot open days. Regarding the single axle low loaders in various liveries, how's about a RMweb competition to build a load for one...? I'm thinking along the lines of the Deltic cab, but if the lorry was in GWR livery you'd have to find something more suitable....
  3. Wrexham & Shropshire 67 + Mk3's/DVT Something using a Vintage Trains Tysley based loco + stock 86101 or 87002 hauling a pair of class 325 units- I don't think one of these workings has even been through Coventry-Birmingham-Wolverhampton, but if you can get away with the Caley Sleeper then this ought to feature too...!!
  4. Some kind of Desiro...? I'm guessing at a 350...
  5. I've modified one with a bogie from the Airfix City kit, although it's the wrong type it improves the general appearance of a Single.
  6. 298

    Dapol class 86

I'd also like to see a working 2mm scale Highspeed pan....
  7. As someone pointed out on the Hornby 2010 thread, a 28xx boiler and Castle chassis make a Star....:
  8. Has anyone fitted a SWD 2-cylinder GWR chip yet...?
  9. It'd make sense for a royality from each model to be paid to the NRM, just as long as Bachmann could be persuaded they'd be viable. There is also the issue of the cost, although others think it's pricey I think ??150 is quite a bargain for something with such a complicated finish, but could the market stand a three-figure sum for what would essentially be a small tender loco with black frames and simple lining...?
  10. The Bachmann GE 45 ton Switcher also has the same arrangement of rods and gears.
  11. Weather....No. Sound decoder in the tender....maybe. Upset the collectors by adding the detailing bits, electrification flashes, TPWS, OTMR, etc... I might even do a James May and throw the box away. Hang On, I could put that old Airfix model in it, and do an Aldo on eBay.....
  12. It already has... I've not tried opening the smokebox door yet, and don't intend to. I'd rather have paid a few quid less and not had such a frivolity. I've not looked through the detailing bits for it, is the TPWS kit in there...?
  13. Mine also arrived today...... I couldn't help myself, and had to compare it to the Kitbuilding attempt I tried aged 12....: I think my kitbuilding efforts have moved on since(?) Here's CoT with 298, as seen in the current Model Railroader..: Which begs the obvious question, if the NRM are to continue with these limited editions, will the next candidate also be a popular model that many people tried building from the Kitmaster range but has previously been unavailable as a RTR model...?
  14. Like the Hornby Teak Gresleys, you have to pay alot for the complexities of the paint finish on top of the new tooling, so the price is justifiable. And prior to this model, if someone really wanted a City they's probably have to pay alot more for the basic Airfix kit to be reworked to this standard. I seem to recall there was a a kitbuilt (Airfix or Nu-Cast) one on here for a comparable price. It's was always going to be an expensive loco. Maybe in later years they might do a small run of a different City with simple lining and black frames, for less than ??100....?
  15. OK, so they've done a Diesel, and a Steam loco.... Something with a pantograph, anyone...? The 76 keeps being mentioned, but I have a pre-started Judith Edge ES1 in the cupboard. And I was right about City of Truro...
  16. Where's that...? I've only seen the one in Snoqualmie. I have a couple of SP&S boxcars, as i'm rather partial to boxcars from the Pacific Northwest:
