Mainly the BBC's reporting of the FP2 result but I like this bit:
QuoteGoverning body the FIA emphasised rules for powers to take points away for "unsportsmanlike" driving or behaviour "contrary to sporting ethics".
Mercedes F1 boss Toto Wolff said it was "a good deterrent for everyone".
Red Bull team principal Christian Horner called for consistency of decisions.
So what Horner means is: 'you didn't punish Max in Brazil so you shouldn't punish him now.'
Do they still have different stewards for each race or have they finally started having one set group?

Fingers crossed for that. Have to admit the highlights package got annoying on Sunday. I can't remember a lot of what happened to most of the Drivers, especially Lando Norris

Jolyon Palmer pointed out in the linked YouTube video that the 15s of total penalties that MV managed to accumulate did mean that he didn't have the necessary cushion to duck in to the pits for new tyres to try to get fastest lap.
RB wasn't aware of the additional 10sec at that point. That decision came later.
However with the 5 sec penalty they couldn't pit and come out ahead of Ocon. Sonething I noticed DC on C4 didn't realise.

It will be interesting to see if there is a retrospective penalty for MV, in light of the new evidence that he did brake hard, early and deliberately. I don't think I will be holding my breath.
There was a penalty, 10 seconds added to his race time.
Pointless when he was 20secs clear of Bottas/Ocon.

That was certainly what happened to Lewis back in 2008.
As Palmer said in his video, RB were trying to push it with the rules somewhat.

Sounded to me like RB were told to let Lewis though before Merc were told that Max would be moving over. Certainly sounded like it was that way around from the radio messages that were played though, although they are delayed when we get them.
My main thought was why Max started to move towards the middle of the track just before the coming together. If he wanted to let Lewis past then the best option was to stay to one side.
Personally, I think a penalty for Max was right. Jolyon Palmer's Analysis sums it up for me: https://youtu.be/Ko4ylgDpABQ
However, I can't help feel annoyed at the actual penalty handed out. It's not even a slap on the wrist for Max given it changes nothing for him. I'd have rather seen some form of grid drop for the next race.
Overall, following this farce of a race I think the red flag rules need looking at and the rules about how to give places back to other drivers too. On the latter, that you shouldn't try to immediately take the position back again and shouldn't be doing it just before a DRS detection zone. Issue of course will be quantifying how long after giving a position back that you can have another try at an overtake.

Servo movement asside, would be brilliant if ModelU could do bespoke crew for these.

I think a Driver is a must to hide the fact the reverser is stuck in Mid gear. How long until accurate moving reversers become the norm!
-
I think the ability to work on cars during Red Flag periods is to allow damage to be repaired.
Like if you have a puncture or front wing damage it would be unsafe to allow that car to take the restart.

Lewis making it home with his damaged front wing is just as much skill as it is luck.
I mean, lucky it wasn't damaged too badly but skill to be able to pump in fastest laps despite it.
And less said about Horner the Moaner the better.

Could be a case of them thinking 'we called Verstappen so we'd better call Hamilton in so there can be no come back from RB'.

A sign of how popular the virtual shows have become maybe?
I personally have very much enjoyed the content released today. Thank you to everyone involved for their hard work and I'm already looking forward to what tomorrow brings

You mean the curved part behind the smokebox. I think thats there on the real thing. Just normally it's hidden behind the longer tanks they have now.

I keep looking at these on various sites as despite not having anywhere to run one I really like the Ffestiniog and I'm very very tempted. What I'm hoping for is another run of other variants in the future as I really cannot afford one right now.

I think it is true that some people don't understand the point in trying to be more realistic. To some, they are just happy seeing trains running. They don't care if the trains they are looking at are the correct formations.
In some cases they don't even care that the locomotive matches the stock it's pulling!
Our hobby provides pleasure to so many people in so many ways.
Therefore, I feel it's important for those of us who try to be as realistic as possible to not look down our noses at these people who don't. Just the same as its important for those who don't care about realism to not be negative to those who are.

I think the DRS zone is going to be something they'll need to adjust on each track next year. Much the same as when it was introduced and on some tracks it was too powerful and others it wasn't powerful enough.
They won't know what to change regarding it until 2023 when we've all found out if the new rules have worked as intended or not.

Hi Martin,
I think one of the great things about our hobby is that we have the freedom do go about building out our projects as we personally think fit or enjoy. On my BR East Anglian 1950’s layout, I put together a core of RTR carriage sets to get myself going, then built out using a range of different kits, to get to the full complement of my requirements. I am now in the process of building some more kits to replace those RTR carriages either that I am not comfortable with, or which don’t strictly meet my requirements. But that was just my personal way of tackling the matter and I’m sure there are many other equally valid ways of approaching it. Enjoy!
Nigel
This is similar to my own approach. When I first started I purchased BR Midland locomotives as there weren't very many small Eastern Region locomotives available RTR. Then as Hornby and Bachmann moved to the East I started replacing the LMR stuff with Eastern prototypes which were more to my liking.
Did the same with coaches too, I've swapped out BR Mk1's for the lovely Gresley and Thompson Suburban coaches that are now available. Most likely I'll do similar to you at some point and work out what I need to kit build in order to better represent the era and area I want to represent.
I feel I'm continually learning what is and isn't right in these regards and as I learn what I've got wrong I do my best to improve my modelling.

For track limits maybe they should take the Rally approach and stick a round bale or lump of concrete on the inside and outside of corners where they don't want the cars to go

It's a shame the Hamilton/Verstappen incident seems to have overshadowed the tustle we saw between Hamilton & Perez. I loved the way Perez fought back after being passed. They were fair with each other too.
I noted that after his second successful attempt Lewis's car was harvesting sooner on the next straight after Turn 4 than Perez. Possibly more electrical deployment on the run to Turn 4 to help spit away from the RB to prevent a reoccurrence of the first try

So... time for a Bottas torpedo?
Not that he would.

Interestingly the wording of the decision mentions that it's become common for drivers to touch other cars. This is a line in the sand exercise for the future methinks.

Had a brilliant time at Caistorail today.
If you are not sure about going tomorrow then please do, it's a lovely exhibition with some very nice layouts on display.

It is your trainset! I you are happy running locos and stock that span a few years in time and you don't try to con people into thinking they are all correct for a certain date, I don't see how anybody can object.
I think for some people the challenge of ensuring everything is correct for a very specific time and date is enjoyable one.
However, there is no wrong answer here, everyone is correct in the way they look at the hobby and derive pleasure from it. Representing a range of years is just as valid a philosophy. As with most of our hobby, it's a case of 'how far do you go'.

Playing the 'poor us' game is like when they suddenly started loosing at the beginning of the current engine era. Beeting and complaining that the engine rules were bad when in reality they were just upset because they were suddenly not winning anymore.
