  1. Thanks! Here is the peeling paint method which is actually very easy. Before construction begins, I take the stripwood and give them a good brushing lengthwise with a steel wire brush. Then I brush on a stain that is made from alcohol, india ink, white ink and brown acrylic paint. Try it on scrap wood first to try the colour and strength of it. It is good practice to brush it on instead of soaking it as it gives more variety in the different planks. Let dry! The next step is to give the planks a quick rub with fine steel wool to remove the fuzz. Now, take two small cups. One with low odour turpentine, and one with white water based paint. I use Vallejo water based polyurethane. Lay out the wood on a paper and soak one plank with turpentine and then directly(!) brush on white paint. The paint will pearl up if enough turp is in the wood. Then brush it lengthwise and you will see how it will start to settle at the surface. Stop brushing when it looks right! Then drag the brush along the edges of the plank to remove unnecessary paint build up. Finished!
  2. Hi all! I just finished the build of Sierra wests Hotel in HO. I made very few changes away from the manual. The peeling paint that is described in it was a bit too uncontrolled (sort of...). So I made the peeling paint by brushing on turpentine and then brush on Vallejo white paint. I really like the way it turned out. Take a look at the pics and let me know what you think about it. I added a few figures. Thanks for watching!
  3. I have another problem. I bought a Digikeijs occupancy detector, as the latest appp update included the option for using them. I installed it, and it (sort of) works.... When driving into the detected track, the icon lights up only to go out a few seconds later. If I then press back to the app start screen and press the play icon, the icon is lit up (as it should be). Strange....
  4. Where do I get some of the green track power plugs? I found some on ebay, but paying €18 shipping is way to steep for an item that can't weigh more than 2 grams.....
  5. I found the problem!!! After the update the app can't handle extended adresses! I realized it when trying the demo loco. Then the green throttle bar and the lit icons worked. After changing CV29 to short adresses on my locos, all was back to normal! Thanks for the link to the manual, but I can't open it.... It is a bin file?!?
  6. Can someone mail me an original APK?
  7. Btw, has anyone installed a Digikeijs DR4088RB-CS 16-channel R-BUS feedback module on the z21? If so, which preset setting should be used?
  8. Hi all. Has anyone else problems with the latest Android app update? I updated a few days ago, and since installing it on my Android units I have had some issues. The green speed staple is gone, and so is the lit up function icons. Sure, the ability to get occupancy detection on the screen rocks, but the glitch is annoying.....
  9. A few more pics of my latest build: I really like the way real glass looks.
  10. My new engine house! Link:http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/100444-fsm-two-stall-engine-house-in-187/
  11. I will try mailing him. ☺ It was strange as some items could be shipped.
  12. I tried to buy from Bob the train guy, but wouldn't ship the items I wanted to Sweden?!? Seriously?
  13. The roster for the narrow gauge is increasing. :-) I bought a lot of HOn3 material from a friend. It included a complete shelf layout that I will incorporate into my project. I have to install sound in two of the K-27:s and in one of the C-19:s. The brass locomotives are running extremely well. Just as good as the Blackstones. To be continued... ;-)
  14. Hi all! I opened my easter art exhibition yesterday at the former Ravlunda destillery (now gallery, restaurant and hotel): Some of my works: I made three rusted pillars with dioramas on them. I named them "Pillars of society 1-3". I wanted to raise the artistic reputation of model building. It was/is a total success! I sold all three within two hours of opening the exhibition. I have had so much questions about them afterwards, so I guess I could have sold a lot more of them! Here are some of my other art, the paintings: Smoke, fire and steel: Obelisk: Steam.... Sunset: It is a very nice feeling to get artistic recognition on the models as well as the rail related art.
  15. My latest painting. "Steel mill and steam" 90 x 70 cm. Oil on canvas.
  16. Here is the newest painting, straight from the easel: "Obelisk" Oil on canvas. 60x80 cm.
  17. I made a new painting: 70x90 cm, oil on canvas.
  18. I guess that many would have bought the Garratt at a higher price. Just look at the price of a GMAM Garratt.... and I own two of those....
  19. As this is a homage to J. Allens G&D, I will take some liberties with the port. ;-)
  20. Hi all, this is the latest build for my layout: CM's Leadville house! It was a real joy to build, and the mfg delivered the missing parts very swiftly (thanks!). I think it is a really good looking house that I wouldn't mind living in in 1:1 scale! My wife asked when we should start building it.... I have put real glass in all the windows, as I do on all my builds now. That will show the interiors really good when I have installed the lights in it. I will also build a small shed/garage in the same style. Thanks for watching!

  22. Ahh! The infamous Heljan "get half of a RTR" locomotive. They seem to be unable to fasten the parts securely.... In Sweden, Heljan made the F1200 steam loco, and most of them had reverted to a kit stage when delivered. I guess it would have been better to have Bachmann make them instead....
