  1. Well, the biggest problem in Nopestralia isn't the snakes, rather the creepy crawlies that has one job in life: trying the very best to end you if you come near..... Thankfully there is a solution to that: http://i.imgur.com/Z7Gpf.gif
  2. That is one damn nice car! If I lived in the UK, I would surely bid on it!
  3. That is a silly price for a Portescap....
  4. Eastern Thumatorp (Tommarp), Swedens oldest city (where I live) got its town rights in the early 1100's and had a large Cistersiense monestary. Now just a one church village.... The river dried out and the railway doesn't stop here anymore.....
  5. The swedish rail system have collapsed, but at least we can get a laugh from it...
  6. Question: Would you like to do the work involved plus material for less!?I personally think it sounds very cheap! If a client came to me with a project like that, which surely would take at least 10-20 hours to complete, it would cost at least £ 150-300 + materials....
  7. My latest build that I made to incorporate in my new layout. A Woodland scenics machine shop that I made a diorama of. I named it Miller & sons after the great Glenn Miller. I listened to a lot of his music during the build.... I'm very satisfied with the build so far. I was honestly surprised at the value of this kit! It has a few issues though, as it is (as I have understood it) an old Alloy forms kit thar WS have re-released. The white metal is VERY hard, and made adjusting the walls a bit hard to do. There were some mold errors as well which demanded some work with the Dremel. I used Campbell shingles on the roof instead of the paper strips as I think it looks better this way. The building have led lighting and real glass windows. The cars are made from Jordan kits. Thanks for looking.
  8. Hello fellow forumites! I'm starting a new project; the brass kit mfg HNJ's steam locomotive class N3! This is the contents of the kit: Seems to me to be a good kit! :-) This is the progress so far. The gearbox was a bit fiddly to get smooth, but after some fine adjusting, it is super nice! :-) The boiler is made from thick brass tubes and cast brass pieces. It was a job for the propane torch! Just going to add the smoke box overlay and the boiler bands before detailing it. The tender chassis is very nicely designed and went together true and square without any trouble. The goal is to complete this loco in 50 hours. :-) I'm only 3.5 hours in the project so far....;-) Source: Kit built brass N3 in HO
  9. I saw that the Metropolitan listing ended unsold with a £2000 opening price, and is now re-listed at £2500!?! Seems like a odd strategy......

  11. Try being chased on foot by a raging Moose! That'll get your heart pumping! It happened to me 15 years ago when walking home from a friends house in the evening. The only thing saving me was some thick bushes that I threw myself into! That was NO joy, as the bushes were of the thorned variety.......
  12. As I forgot to pick a diesel engine, here's my choice: The IC Green Diamond!
  13. My kudos to Fasttracks! I just have to say what a wonderful service they have! Speediest delivery across the Atlantic that I've seen..... I ordered on the 23, they shipped the same day, and on the 26:th I had it in the mailbox here in Sweden! The shipping cost was also very reasonable! (unlike some other US suppliers.... ). So, that was really, really good! :-)
  14. Yes, I think a 3 island steamer would be smashing! Maybe a modular one that could be built as full scale or selectively compressed?
  15. Another touched up version, with all the quirks removed.....
  16. I have made a "small" change on the plan: feels much more complete...
  17. This is how I have planned my new layout to look? I have designed it to include my current layout along the left side. The room is 6.5 x 4.5 meters. The possibility to have a decent sized harbour is really exciting! I have planned for the two "underground" tracks to go to a common return loop under the harbour. All comments and pointers welcome!
  18. This is how I have planned my new layout to look. There will be some changes along the way I think.... :-) I have designed it to include my current layout along the left side. The size is nice to fill with landscape. The room is 6.5 x 4.5 meters. The possibility to have a decent sized harbour is really exciting! Almost true to scale liberty ship maybe? :-)
  19. I think you're right that there is some catching up to do for European and UK RTR compared with the US RTR..... I will see how the timing will be, the date for moving was moved forward a few weeks due to the living arrangement of the previous owners, so now I have some more time to spend.....
  20. Micro-set and Micro-sol are very much a must on these decals! I used some spray made for making your own decals and just re-coated the decals, as the ones I had tried to use, had a tendency to break up into small pieces.....
  21. Evening all! Sometimes a lot of things happen at once..... After living and working near were we live for the last 12 years, we have now decided to relocate. We have just signed the deal for this house: Not so very far away though, only about 12 kilometers from were we live now, but it's a very much better accomodations for both me and my wife. Both the communications and the house is better suited for our current needs. My wife attends University for her theological candidacy, and I'm studying history and architecture. That, together with the house purchase, means that there will be much less time for me to both write here and build on my layout We will also have to sell our present house in the summer, so a lot of work then as well..... One advantage is that we will be debt free then. Other bonuses are that I will get a much better room for my layout, and I will get a LARGE workshop with a very big spraybooth! A bit scary to take the plunge, but sometime it's the right way to go....
