  1. Hello Kosta,

I've found a picture of a Class 26 in large logo grey livery with two Mk2 coaches, the coach behind the engine was in Scot Rail livery. The picture is on page 61 of Modern Locomotives Illustrated  No. 201.

The picture was taken in 1990. On the same page there  is a picture of a Class 26 in the above mentioned livery hauling a train of Mk2 in blue grey, but behind the engine there is a Mk1 BG in Inter City livery.

These picture was also taken in 1990.

  2. Hello,

It's been quite a while since my last post. With only a bit more of a month until my housemove and change of job. I started to tear down my G&D Sorethroat branch layout.

But I will built a new one. Because my new layout room is smaller in size. It is roughly 4x3 meters. So I planned a new one. These time the Sorethroat branch runs from the fiddle uphill.

I will reuse my bought Piko and Atlas track for the fiddle yard. On the visible part I will handlay the track and for the turnouts I will use Fast Track templates and turnout jig.

The end of the line is located over the fiddle yard.

The lower part of the layout.

  3. Hello,

as Felix mentioned Ullapool and Inverlael are sold. Inverlael will got to Austria, and Ullapool will remain in the Frankfurt area.

During the session we have spoken about the new layout and we came to the conclusion, that I could go on the the Ullapool theme.

But for the new layout I have to relocate the area of the station more westerly to the Broomfield Holiday Park area.

And during the evening of the session weekend we enjoyed some wee drams. And I've tried a sip of Laphroig quarter cask single malt. But I have to confess,

that it is not my taste.

  4. In the last few days I extended the layoutframe to the place of the passing station. Pictures will follow soon.

I'm wondering if you could help me. I'm looking for another small steam engine for the G&D Sorethroat branch.

So could you tell me the length of the Bachmann Alco 2-6-0 and the older Bachmann 2-6-0?

    Thank you

  5. Today I wanted to plant some fence post to seperate the railway from the quarry.
But when finished with that task I had a look if I've got other stuff to place on the module.
First I placed the Peco crossing gates.
Next project was the fence on the platform of Leckmelm station.
I also livened up the goods yard, with some figures, a small office and some fence.
Then I placed a old cattle van at the edge of the garden of the station master. Now it
waits for some cattle. I also enlivened the quarry area.

  6. During my holiday I started to built a engine shed for my G&D Sorethroat branch. It is based on John Allens Gorre engineshed. The walls are made of 1mm balsa wood. The shingles for the roof are made from thin balsa wood strips, that I cut to length and glued them on 1mm card.

  7. Last week I purchased the IHC Packing Plant and Cannery kit on Ebay.

I was on search for them quite a while.

Last friday I was able to collect them from the post office.

@F-UnitMad Sorry for the late answer. My locos run okay through the "dog leg". Regarding your other question.

I built the turnouts on my workbench, using the Fastrack turnout template. Then I placed the turnout Tiestrips on the layout and glued them in place.

After these is done I glued down the wooden ties. When the glue has dried. I put the turnouts on the turnout ties and cut the rails to length, then I glued them down.

After that I put in the spikes. Next I put a rail joiner on a Code 83 rail and pushed it on one of the turnout rails. Then I placed the rail on top of the ties and spiked the rail down

every 5th or 6th tie. When rail is spiked down the entire lenght I took a second rail and repeated the process parallel to the first rail, but these time I'm using some Microengineering

trackgauges so that the rails got the correct spacing.

  8. Hello Andy,

maybe you could combine the two trackplans. So that you could use each of one as a stand alone layout, but also that you could use both of them together.

E.g. Glen Goolie on the left and Bute Oil terminal on the right. When used together an train with tankers arrives first on the platform at Glen Goolie, then the loco

will run around the train and then push the tankers in to the appropriate sidings at Bute Oil terminal.

  9. Hi Dave,

As someone who has their name down on your website for a pair of Claytons I hope you may be able to look at this suggestion....

I have never really understood why it has to be a choice between the NEM pocket for a coupling OR the mini-snowploughs with the accessories supplied with N gauge locos. I have now managed to bodge several of my locos to have both - usually by cutting up the supplied snow-plows and then fixing the two large outer plows either side of the NEM pocket with superglue, wire and bits of spare plastic.

Here is a Farish cl 24 bogie I have been working on this evening for an example of what I mean.

    attachicon.gifBogie1.jpg

Would it not be possible to manufacture a combined NEM pocket/ snow-plow assembly i.e. an NEM pocket with the outer plows either side allowing the best of both worlds? I would understand that there may need to be some changes to the dimensions of the plow to make this work, and you'd have to choose either yellow plows with a yellow NEM pocket or black plows with a black NEM pocket, but these seem better choices than simply one or the other.

I would imagine I'm not the only one who is modifying their locos in this manner, but I would imagine scores more people who would like to fit the plows don't because they would rather have a working coupling at each end.

    Cheers

    David

Edit - I want to use "plough" not plow, but my american computer doesn't like it!

    Hello Dave,

as I have also a set of a powered and one dummy of your Claytons on preorder, I'm also interested in a combined Snowplow/NEM pocket.
