Hi Toby, As mentioned somewhere above... Timber P - a possible kit. Yes - there is the possibility the these may be produced as a kit. At the moment we are still working to accumulate info and photos. Model wise - a scratchbuilt model was made to explore the possible ways to produce the kit. At the moment it is a little bit delayed with further progress because of the potential difficulties we have encountered. If you have a High Res photo/sacn and look at the cross sections of the uprights - you will see the source of the problem. The uprights are going to be hard to reproduce - regardless of what material is used. Etch would need to be able to bend in 4 dimensions at some points. The nearest way I can describe the section is as a U shaped section on it's side with a parrallell Z shape section attached to to the top of the U sections but rear facing. We have thought of a casting, but it will be too bendable. We looked at resin as well but it's too brittle. If it happens the kit will be a mixed materail 'Set of Parts' as opposed to a full kit. So far the materials include etch brass, cast whitemetal or brass and resin moulded. Doing it a a plastic moulding will not be possible due to the problem of gatting it out of the injection moulding tool. So - Not dead - Just between energetic bursts of activity. Most ofthe photos in this collection from Ernie appear to be from the early to mid 80's. I'm saying that based on the rolling stock, some of the buildings and personal vistations! For instance - in that 2nd shot some of the sheds had changed by 1985/6 having been replaced by more permanent structures. I tried to limit the number of photos for each of the new Waverley stations but found so much of interest that I just kept on taking more photos! Thanks

Hi Bernard, I've raised this query in other places some time ago and never managed to get confirmation one way or another. Having spoken with former workers at Lady Vic they desricbed what sounds to me as a J94 tank. I've been through the Scottish Mining Museum of Lady Vic records and there is nothing to confirm this. However - I did find a record to show that there was an ex L&Y open still on site when the pit closed and that it may be buried under spoil on site with the remains of some other wagons. Exactly what that means - I don't know. My grandfather worked for NCB at Lady Vic and said that when the pit closed there was a big bonfire of whatever wagons etc that could not be removed or were of no interest to the scrapman. Thanks

Hi Jeremy, Photos taken from public places - Probably correct. I say probably as with all the compulsory purchase stuff going on it is hard to keep track of what is or isn't public anymore. As the trackbed has been used as a pathway, officially in places and unofficially in others, for the years since closure - it's a difficult call. There are no notices saying that CP orders have been granted - We do occasionally see announcements about them in the local papers but not that often. If there has been a private sale - we don't find out at all. Well aware of Photographers Rights and always carry a copy in the camera bag. I don't think this was a case of preventing photos being taken, just of them being published where they were. Thanks

Hi 'chard, I contacted the Waverley Rail Project team with a request to use the pdf plan files for the stations I had photos of. See http://www.waverleyrailwayproject.co.uk/ I had a reply asking that I take the gallery down and then a 'phone call which queried my interest and what my intent was by creating the Fotopic site. The reason given at the time was for the request was - 'Due to the sensitive situation we currently find ourselves in'. You have to bear in mind that there has been, and continues to be, a large amount of hostility regarding the houses/trackbed and land along the route that needed, and still needs, to be obtained from various owners - some of it quite hostile and subject to court cases. The request came as no suprise really. Anyway, with things as they were - I took down the site to avoid any complications. Thanks

Hi Dave, Today it's an ex-Restaurant... Complusary purchase or presure sale - I don't know. The houses out of shot to the right of camera all encroached on the right of way and have been subect to a compulsory purchase order - to be demolished eventually. I would have gone up for a 'Today's View' but we have about 12" of snow and no snowplough or gritters on duty! I did have all this lot up on Fotopic but was asked to remove the whole gallery I did of the station sites between Millerhill and Galashiels. I noticed (before the snow) that there must have been a contractors vehicle on parts of the trackbed as there was some new brush clearance and fence repairs visible. Newtongrange Viaduct has also had another visit from someone with big shears. All the saplings that had started to appear over the parapet have gone. More pictures if required! Thanks

Hi Robert, I've always thought is was just referred to as 'Teak Brown' regardless of if it was on panneled stock or in psuedo teak livery? I'll dive into the loft tommorrow to check my source on this but I have a feeeling it was given as this in one of the LNER books. Thanks

Hi Ian, You should have these two underlined! I have them both down on multiple occasions up to September 1977 as formed in Liverpool-Newcastle rakes. For withdrawal info - 9135 was confirmed as the last in revenue service and the last sighting date I have is 20/09/77. Thanks

Hi all, There have been several conversions from various RTR HO versions of these wagons. There was also an article from the British 1:87 Society which shows how to produce a 'More British' version from the continental ones. This wagon type remains one of the largest (Size, period, working area) gaps in both the ready to run and kit markets. Producing a kit is going to be difficult due to the length of the models body - but the Yanks can have kits for this sort of thing - so why not us? I have a scan of the British 1:87 Society article but, fo copyright reasons, cannot put it up here. With ref to the article - does anyone know if the British 1:87 Society magazines were ever available to non members? Thanks
