  1. Couple of semaphore signals under development... unpainted and painted...the water tower needs a lot more work...
  2. Sorry for the delay... don't really maintain my blog any more... you can see updated photos on the rmweb model Gallery as well as my new topic "Glasgow George Square". In answer to your question, the baseboards are built on an existing shelf, which is only a couple of feet off the floor. The loft is small, and is actually in the ceiling space of a bedroom if that makes sense. The ladder to the loft is in the wardrobe and one can look down into the bedroom from the loft. It's very convenient, and when we moved in, there were the tell-tale signs of set track curves at the corner of the shelf. This is not the first layout here!!
  3. The station track plan is roughly Queen Street.. here's a couple of views of the station area.
  4. Weathering by me with a new airbrush I bought a couple of weeks ago. Never used one before. Great fun, but cleaning up is a bit tiresome! I don't have a track plan but here's a couple of older images that will give you a fair idea. The layout consists of 7 platform station, and just north of the station throat there is a dmu/coach depot while just to the south is a loco depot. The station throat leads straight into the hidden sidings via 4 lines. The sidings have sufficient capacity to take all trains etc, so that the station can be completely cleared. This adds somewhat to the realism.... I try to stick to BR blue, and almost everything is BR blue except a 37 Railfreight (which I will respray to BR blue), an old Sprinter (which is on its way out) and a Scotrail 47 which I love so it stays...
  5. This afternoon I am starting to paint a couple of semaphore signals. Looking up reference photos on rmweb - great resource!
  6. And a mucky train in from the west coast... it's spent the day going to and fro, and it's been raining heavily all day over the hills.
  7. And here is my Heljan 47 with detailing components added, ready for some weathering. Not just yet though, as I'm savouring its workshop finish!
  8. Started a topic to go along with the gallery. I can put my favourite photos from the gallery here in the topic. Weathering has started, though only an HST, class 26 and some coaches. Let me know what you think... this topic will be a better place for a discussion than in the gallery.
  9. Hi Kazer... hope you're enjoying the planning phase, but don't leave it too long - you just have to plunge in and get started on constuction, which I only did last March, Doug.

  10. Thanks Paul, since this is my first layout in a very very long time and I'm learning as I go, I have had to use a lot of modeller's licence to get away with it!

Once this one is "finished" (whatever that means) I will probably take it apart and build a more accurate model of Dundee Tay Bridge. But until then, lots and lots of things to try my hand to - including w...

  11. Photos of the beginnings of the railway bridge are in the Gallery.
  12. Just about to commence work on a railway bridge across the station throat. Already have a road bridge across there, now it's time for a single track railway bridge to cut across the station throat, at a lightly different level. Once constructed, I will be able to park short trains or locos on it from time to time...
  13. All the images from the 'old' rmweb George Square topic have now been loaded into the new Glasgow George Square gallery.
  14. Thanks Stuart, good to be back! I will just keep rambling on about what I've been doing on the layout. I have uploaded all the photos into a Gallery. The important thing for me is for this blog or topic to be a complete record, from beginning to end, of Glasgow George Square.
  15. At last I have got myself set up on this new site. I will try to load in some photos!
  16. Glasgow George Square model railway, ScotRail ~1980, built and operated in Melbourne Australia.

  17. is trying to work out how this new site works!

  18. Installed lights (and signs, posters, platform numbers) in Glasgow George Square. Very good start to 2010!
