Found it - thanks. Now trying to work out how I could be accidentally passing Halfords on the way home from work. What yellow did you use to match the front?
Hi RichThe yellow was Railmatch warning panel brushed on.

That does look pretty stunning. Was it a full repaint Ian, or just the blue?
just realised the headlight is gone.
Hi Richnot a full repaint, if you look a few pages back it’s in the Tidworth thread. The blue was resprayed from a Halfords can and the yellow brush painted after the hole was filled following the headlight removal.

The NSE livery 117 I am tinkering with the idea of repainting into the lighter blue, but not sure it's worth the faff
Do it! 😉😀- 6

Evening all
Just a quick thank you to the South Hants MRC team for their hospitality on Saturday and hope the layout was well received. Thanks also to the Tidworth team this week Chris, Mike and Steve for keeping the trains moving and tea mugs filled. As usual I didn’t take any pics but I’m sure there’s plenty out there.

Hi,
What a fabulous layout and spot on observational modelling. The standard is very high indeed. Just been enjoying Gearjammer's photo sets just up thread, some lovely angles.
I spotted a feature that has knocked me out. The disused line that has been turned into a foot path with a new bridge deck within the old bridge. I find this level of detail absolutely amazing and just love it.
Some great traction and rolling stock to feast on but in all honestly you could empty away all the trains and the layout on its own just kicks ass.
Just brilliant
Best wishes
TT100 Diesels
Blimey TT what a humbling post thank you very much for your kind words about my train set!The footpath was never envisaged as a disused line as it happens, but the bridge you mention was inspired/based on the bridge at Worting Jct near Basingstoke that actually spans 4 tracks. It carries a footpath over the SW mainline and as you imply it’s just a bit different and interesting than just another overbridge.
Not sure where you’re based but if you ever see us out at a show be sure to introduce yourself.
Thanks again.

Wow it’s been a while!
Tidworth hits the road again tomorrow morning and heads down to the South Hants show at the Admiral Nelson School in Portsmouth after a break of almost 6 months. Say hello if you’re passing through.

Evening all
After a great weekend operating the rookie's layout on its first outing I thought I'd add a few pics for the record.
A view of the clay dry dwarfing the stock in front and giving a good idea of its size.
One of the Exford St Blazey fleet 37671 draws some CDAs out.
A great pic showing how good the layout is.
Another one of the Exford fleet comes to a stand at the end of the headshunt above the cliffs.
The resident 08 takes a break under one of the canopies.
A bit later in the day and 'Tre Pol & Pen' is back with another train and is amongst the Gorse.
There you go then I think you'll agree it's shaping up to be a fine layout that will be popular on the circuit. (especially when its finished!)😉

I must learn how to stitch clips together on my phone.
Cheers Peter.
Hi Pete hope you're well. I use the iMovie APP on my phone to create and edit the videos into a montage, I was put onto it by Nigel. You just select all the clips you want to include into a project and once they are there you can then edit them to get rid of the dead spaces and cock ups! 😉

Morning all
Its been a while again and not a lot has happened but I finally took a lot of video clips off my phone and compiled them into another YouTube compilation, the first for around a year! The clips are from Feb 23 to Aug 23 and are in chronological order so you can see the changes to background (only small changes!) as the video runs.

Hi Steve
I hope the knee is getting better, my mum had a replacement about a year ago and wished she hadn’t to start with!
Scott kept to all the speed limits and didn’t crash anything, it was me that did!🙄 A sticky point motor didn’t throw in the FY and I ran an HST at speed into a class 59 in an adjacent road!🤣

are you going to add lighting??
Cheers Graham
I probably will add subtle lighting under the canopies at some point as it is a bit dark under there. The platform lamps just need connecting to a supply as they are working ones. 😉

Evening all
Yet again there's a two month gap between updates! 🙄
Some more progress around the station although not a great a deal.
First I put together four Wills Canopy kits.
Once all four were painted they were then weathered and here the first one is done compared to the 'clean' one.
All four completed and in their final position on the platforms, viewed here from track level.
An aerial view showing the weathered roofs and the added 'moss'. This evening I added platform lights that again have been painted over the last couple of days but I forgot to take a pic of them.
Once the lamps were in place tonight I thought I deserved to play trains for a bit, here 47701 heads through towards the junction.
A short while later 50031 Hood approaches from the other direction with a Waterloo service.
Perfect timing catches 'Ted' & Temeraire passing through and you can see a couple of the platform lamps.

Hi fellait’s looking really good so far but if your masking for the yellow give it a blast of white primer first, the yellow will cover much better. I found out the hard way too! 🙄

I don't know if it is representing sandstone or crumbly clay / shale? But it looks like you have copied this topographical feature from a real place. It is top notch scenic modeling to me.
Hi TT
Many thanks for dropping in and your comments. The backdrop is modelled on the real cliffs along the seawall at Dawlish as I wanted this feature at the far end of the shed to place the layout immediately. Having made several visits to Dawlish and taken lots of pics (which I can't find now) I tried to copy some of the features of the real cliffs on the layout but just bending them around the curve. I also picked up some of the soil from the cliffs and to help with the colouring of them by using it on the exposed areas. Originally I wanted the seawall as well but couldn't fit it in and make the layout work, so this is a compromise but hopefully still gives the feel of the real place.

Evening all
A Happy New Year to you all.
Over the Christmas break I spent a bit of time in the shed and had a play with the fuel point canopies that had been unused since the loft version of Exford was dismantled.
The lights still work for the first time since 2014! Both canopies had 5mm trimmed off each side, a couple of extra supports were fashioned from old kit sprues and more substantial roof supports were added before a coat of paint ready for weathering later. As you can see the lights in the running shed were also tested.
Since the start of this year I've started the process of ballasting the depot area. First the concrete pads around the fuel points were repainted with a conrete colour as I had 'overdone' the weathering previously. Then the tracks immediately adjacent to the pads were ballasted.
This afternoon I've continued the ballasting with progress on the entry track and pointwork up to the end of the fuelpoints.
Hopefully it won't be too long before I can recreate images like this from 2011.
There we go then I've finally made a start on this side of the layout and hopefully the enthusiasm will continue to get it all done soon!
