Found it - thanks. Now trying to work out how I could be accidentally passing Halfords on the way home from work. What yellow did you use to match the front?

    Hi Rich

The yellow was Railmatch warning panel brushed on.

That does look pretty stunning. Was it a full repaint Ian, or just the blue?

just realised the headlight is gone.

    Hi Rich

not a full repaint, if you look a few pages back it’s in the Tidworth thread. The blue was resprayed from a Halfords can and the yellow brush painted after the hole was filled following the headlight removal.

Just a quick thank you to the South Hants MRC team for their hospitality on Saturday and hope the layout was well received. Thanks also to the Tidworth team this week Chris, Mike and Steve for keeping the trains moving and tea mugs filled. As usual I didn’t take any pics but I’m sure there’s plenty out there.

    Hi,

What a fabulous layout and spot on observational modelling. The standard is very high indeed. Just been enjoying Gearjammer's photo sets just up thread, some lovely angles.

I spotted a feature that has knocked me out. The disused line that has been turned into a foot path with a new bridge deck within the old bridge. I find this level of detail absolutely amazing and just love it.

Some great traction and rolling stock to feast on but in all honestly you could empty away all the trains and the layout on its own just kicks ass.

    Just brilliant

    Best wishes

Blimey TT what a humbling post thank you very much for your kind words about my train set!

The footpath was never envisaged as a disused line as it happens, but the bridge you mention was inspired/based on the bridge at Worting Jct near Basingstoke that actually spans 4 tracks. It carries a footpath over the SW mainline and as you imply it’s just a bit different and interesting than just another overbridge.

Not sure where you’re based but if you ever see us out at a show be sure to introduce yourself.

    Thanks again.

  5. Evening all

After a great weekend operating the rookie's layout on its first outing I thought I'd add a few pics for the record.

A view of the clay dry dwarfing the stock in front and giving a good idea of its size.

A great pic showing how good the layout is.

A bit later in the day and 'Tre Pol & Pen' is back with another train and is amongst the Gorse.

There you go then I think you'll agree it's shaping up to be a fine layout that will be popular on the circuit. (especially when its finished!)😉

I particularly like the overhead clips later in the video! Reckon you need some more of them

Cheers Graham I'll see what I can do for you. 😉

The 'one armed bandit' tells me you've been working over this way a bit, give me a shout and come over if you are.

I must learn how to stitch clips together on my phone.

    Cheers Peter.

Hi Pete hope you're well. I use the iMovie APP on my phone to create and edit the videos into a montage, I was put onto it by Nigel. You just select all the clips you want to include into a project and once they are there you can then edit them to get rid of the dead spaces and cock ups! 😉

  8. Hi Steve

I hope the knee is getting better, my mum had a replacement about a year ago and wished she hadn’t to start with!

Scott kept to all the speed limits and didn’t crash anything, it was me that did!🙄 A sticky point motor didn’t throw in the FY and I ran an HST at speed into a class 59 in an adjacent road!🤣

are you going to add lighting??

    Cheers Graham

I probably will add subtle lighting under the canopies at some point as it is a bit dark under there. The platform lamps just need connecting to a supply as they are working ones. 😉

I don't know if it is representing sandstone or crumbly clay / shale? But it looks like you have copied this topographical feature from a real place. It is top notch scenic modeling to me.

    Hi TT

Many thanks for dropping in and your comments. The backdrop is modelled on the real cliffs along the seawall at Dawlish as I wanted this feature at the far end of the shed to place the layout immediately. Having made several visits to Dawlish and taken lots of pics (which I can't find now) I tried to copy some of the features of the real cliffs on the layout but just bending them around the curve.  I also picked up some of the soil from the cliffs and to help with the colouring of them by using it on the exposed areas. Originally I wanted the seawall as well but couldn't fit it in and make the layout work, so this is a compromise but hopefully still gives the feel of the real place.
