  1. Because they are exclusive to Kernow initially, this doesn't mean they won't do them in the general range eventually. If you don't have the skill or propensity to weather them then you'd still buy more later and if you have weathered ones then any future Dapol release will have different numbers so you can add to the fleet. Dapol are probably selling more as a result as you might not buy a shiny one now if you could get a weathered one. Leaving us uncertain taps into the I must have them now incase I can't get them later paranoia that small production batches has caused. This isn't a criticisim of any manufacturer as it makes a lot of sense in the current market as it reduces risk and is ultimately why we are seeing so many models that would have been considered too much of a gamble a few years ago.
  2. Both types can be run in short rakes, In the last four years of the Quidhampton traffic trains varied from 1 - 10 wagons with 4 or 5 being very common. The Quid flow originally used the version modelled by Dapol and then switched to the later sagging bottom style. I can't remember when they changed over so I'll quite happily run them into the very latest era http://www.flickr.com/photos/salisburyasc/3387602451/sizes/l/in/set-72157604808443124/
  3. http://www.gramodels...uk/4mm_kits.php or Cromwell Models in Glasgow but you'll have to email them or write to them as there website is no longer active. Only modern vehicle they do in 4mm but a very common one.
  4. Jon I've been In contact with Colin who wrote Rails to Poole Harbour and he has 3 pictures of the terminal so pm me your address and I'll send the on when I see Colin in a week or so.
  5. Ok here's the Gramodels kit. Quite a few bubbles and bits of flash but easily sorted with a bit of thick superglue. Careful trimming of the side skirt would allow the FV432 as seen in the photo to be modelled. (Please note I own the copyright to the photo in the book shown so it's ok)
  6. Reference the loads for warflats just found some FV432's I bought at ExpoNG last year from http://www.gramodels.co.uk/4mm_kits.php Few bubbles in the resin but look ok to me at £12.50 each I'll primer it and post some pics tomorrow.
  7. First class Kevin, thanks. Just need to pluck up the courage. Those marigolds are doing your hands a world of good, keeps the manicure perfect
  8. Yes please I've seen the results in fact one of them is still sat on my workbench making the 37 feel better while it's having the electrical upgrade. Hoping the bullets will be here soon so I can bring them for a run.
  9. Heh heh he's having a Scottish moment after playing with my Large Logo 37 and yes the chips are finally off to be reblown Kevin. Thought I better get on with it before the weathering masterclass appears and I add another job to the list.
  10. Well we got all the signals in for Shepton NG show just one board to rewire and the logic circuitry to go now. New junction signals. The layout and you can see the station signals too. There are a few issues with the point control that have been going on for some time, with so many to set so we are looking at simplifying it for the operator with a route setting switch. Hopefully to reduce the odd embarassing routing into occupied platforms!
  11. Well I popped over to Gaugemaster today and had a pleasant chat with the chap in the Euro section about the Kato Trams. I was allowed to thoroughly inspect the red tram and it is very impressive, you can see why it costs nearly double what the Tomy ones do. The mechanisim is completely below the windows and would allow for passengers if they are chopped off at the waist. The roof detail is exquisite with moving parts on the articulation dampers. They are struggling for much more information as they haven't recieved the sets yet but it looks like they will be stocking just the start set with the Track plate and one tram. 40-900 Start set with Tram 40-800 Start set – Track only Here are the best links I've found so far on the Kato site. Kato Trams, hover over small green magnifying glass for larger images. http://www.katomodels.com/product/nmi/tlr0600_e.shtml Starter sets basic and with a tram. http://www.katomodels.com/product/nmi/unitram.shtml Demo slideshow http://www.katomodels.com/unitram/
  12. Scott looks like someone just told him he has to go now now you can see why I persuaded Kevin to put Leaford on here looks fantastic and fun to operate. Kevin you are solely responsible for the current resurgence of my OO layout work!
  13. Sure we can organise something when it's all up again after the next show in Feb. Nigel is coming over to video it and we could make an evening of it.
  14. Well the working signals project creeps forward. 2 of the 3 boards that need rewiring are finished and the control panel fascia has been redone. One more board to rewire then Kevin will start installing the logic circuits. Hopefully have it all in and working in time for the shows in the later half of this year. At least the power to the track worked fine after the rewiring! One of the signals with the aspects being tested, (you would never see this combination in real life) Work has started to install a stone abutment for the last signal required. View of the underside of two boards rewired so far showing the L girder framework and using plastic comb binders to hold the wiring now.
  15. I saw the post by Dave that it was a chromed model but the pics do look like it is weathered on a black base, was this typical of how these earlier bullets ended up looking? The ends definitely look black same as the chassis. The ones I'm familiar with tended to end up brown with a hint of the silver showing underneath. Dapols factory weathering on the MCAs looks very good so I would expect a fairly close copy of this if they are anything to go by. Now if I buy some of these will they do the later ones too?
  16. Hi Kevin Hope the holiday was good, if the VEP is on the list are you thinking of adding a third rail?
  17. You too, I've already checked the web this morning and on 47 watch
  18. I knew they'd like it Here's an overall shot from Andover with a little NSE flavour. Many thanks for the help with the sound locos and letting me play with the 33.
  19. I've seen pictures of early 66 deliveries on flatcars, I assume it's a choice about the shipping arrangements as the bogies were surrounded by a lifting frame of some sort. Might just be the ship they hired has a certain type of crane or hold stowage that requires that method.
  20. Rhätia at Tolworth Pics corrupted so edited out.
  21. The geniuses at Death by Health and safety have come up with two new modules for the railway rulebook. Boiling a kettle http://www.deathbyhealthandsafety.co.uk/treaclefactory/resources/XS01-BoilingTheKettle.pdf Securing your bootlaces http://www.deathbyhealthandsafety.co.uk/treaclefactory/resources/XS02-SecuringYourBootlaces.pdf More oh so true stuff here. http://www.deathbyhealthandsafety.co.uk/index.html
  22. There are some really odd design features on the rest of the cab too. Just behind the cab side window there is a protrusion that appears to have the sole point of containing the handrail, or does it hold the door frame? I assume the side windows were canted in to get greater height rather than following the loading gauge more closely like the afore-mentioned handrail enclosure. I've still not warmed to the cabs design on this machine although the main body looks pretty standard GE in the USA. Big sandboxes on the sides of the tank and lots of access doors. Now if only they'd built the cab more like the US version but with a shorter snout and hidden those anticlimbers with some nearly flush bodywork. This is one engine that badly needed a bit of input from a good Industrial Designer rather than just rounding off the corners by engineers. Take a look at the aggresive nose on the RhB's new Allegra units to see good industrial design. http://www.railpictures.net/viewphoto.php?id=302314&nseq=14 See? much better and still looks angry.
  23. Unloaded at Newport on Saturday http://www.railwayherald.co.uk/
  24. Well we've been asking for industrials so now time to put the money where the mouth was! Only problem is there are so many desirable releases Pug finally gets a stablemate and now to finish off the two Agenoria kits. nice one Nobby
  25. There was one bit I felt needed some reworking so as the next show is approaching it gave me the impetus to get on and do it. I wasn't happy with the rocks behind the station carpark as they were too uniform and made a straight wall so i decided to cut some out to break up the wall. This is what it looked like originally Then I cut out a couple of areas . . it's now sceniced again ready for the next outing.
