  1. Personally I think Hornby missed a trick with GW175, but let's not go down that road again! Looking forward to receiving Tintagel Castle and still can not decide on what name it is going to be.
  2. Have received a reply - now due in July!
  3. Have sent a further email to Hornby today to see when we might expect Tintagel Castle. Their last email was dated 6th May and said "in a month" - let's hope it is soon!
  4. Some great suggestions here - I echo almost all of the above that could be used in the 1930's
  5. Mine was ordered this January! - I am sure it will be worth the wait, but will 1 be enough !!! - At least the layout will be ready.....
  6. I have just had an email from Hornby to advise that Tintagel castle (the GWR version) will be available in one months time. - Hurrah at last!
  7. Looks like it will arrive at the same time as the 28xx
  8. what happens to the comments I put here?

  9. I agree! - It does seem to be that the catalogue dates are very fluid and should be taken with a pinch of salt. I suppose in the old days, if it was in the catalogue, it would be made in Margate. (Some by my partners Uncle, who gave him some Hornby mock-up locos). If a particular item sold well, they could increase the production at a moments notice. Now of course they have to fit in with the schedule in China, being shared with Bachmann (and others?) and then be shipped half way across the world. No longer are any manufacturers able to turn goods out at a moments notice. But then what we will be getting will certainly be worth the wait. - It's just frustrating thats all. I waited last year for the Pullman Observation car to be produced, only to find they were as rare as Hens teeth and still have not got one!! Model Railway room almost finished.....
  10. I hope so! - Getting impatient. At this rate not only will the railway room be finished, so will the railway!! The Hornby website now shows 4th quarter, but I guess / hope that is left over from 2009!! http://www.Hornby.com/locomotives-89/r2848x/
  11. Additionaly, I have sent Hornby an email, asking when Tintagel will be in stock.... no reply!
  12. I have mine on order with Rails in Sheffield, who advise there is no date yet for Tintagel Castle to be issued. How frustrating! - Gives me time to build the new shed though - new layout here we come! - something like 16 metres run, should give the Castle something to do! Then I need to get more of those Slaters Toplight kits.
  13. Plain Great Western on the tender.
  14. Very nice, looks at home there!
  15. And Pendennis Castle will be back on the main line in the next few years: http://www.didcotrai...079project.html Another UKP 40,000 - UKP 60,000 needs to be raised.
  16. Thanks very much - might try and convert the tender then!
  17. Does anyone know when Tintagel Castle will arrive in the shops? All I need then to do is identify which loco I will model....... I hope Tintagel has the original small tender that was used for the first batch.....
  18. Think 2010 might be an expensive year for me!
  19. Try these from the October 2009 gala at the West Somerset railway
  20. Interesting comment. Personally I think ??150 is too expensive for a loco that does not have DCC fitted as standard.
