Hi Pete,
Excellent work, looks really good. As Hornby are not doing one this year, I am going to build one I got a little while ago from DC kits. I am going to finish this one in Blue. The ED looks good as well. Keep up the good work.
Cheers for now, Ian

Hi Pete,
The last time I saw a 2Bil kit for sale was in the now defunct model shop in Kempston, about five years ago. There were two of them, £18 each. I am kicking myself for not picking them up. Hindsight is a wonderful thing. I would like at least one more, in Blue this time. Maybe Hornby will oblige next year!!!!
Cheers for now, Ian.

Hi Pete,
EPB looks excellent. Are you using Replica flush glazing, I did for my HAP and it makes a real difference to the look of the finished model. I too had a lot of parts left from my BIL build. If only it were available again though!

Hi All,
Thanks for the info. Just found a picture of 5358 on page 9 of Slam Doors on the Southern, the caption says it was fitted with B5(s) bogies. It is also in Green SYP. The photo was taken at Eastbourne in 1965. Would it have had the bogies that early? Once again thanks for the comments.

Thanks for the comments, glad you like it. Olddudders do you know if 5358 was one of the units fitted with B4 bogies? I intend to make one of these variations in the future. Headcode will be appropriate to the SE division.

Hi All,
Thanks for the comment James. One day I might have a layout to run it on!!

Thanks for the comment Phill.
I have found a motor bogie in the loft and will use that instead of the one I have on order. I have plenty of stuff the new one can go in.!!
Cheers for now Ian

Hi All,
Thanks for the comments. Pete the Replica glazing fits the DC Kits perfectly, take a look at the Hap in my gallery. I have found a new pet hate while doing this 4EPB, No Smoking signs! Theres quite a few on these suburban units. Though not as many as had I finished it in NSE livery I suppose. Halfway through finishing transfers, post some more pics later.
Cheers for now, Ian

Hi Ian,
The motor is going to be the 5 pole version of Hornby's 4 wheel bogie, as used in the 25 and 110 Dmu. I have used one in my 4VEP and it is smooth and powerful. I will be using a Southern Pride mounting bracket specifically designed for this bogie.

Hi All,
No hinges!! In fact all the bodyside stuff has been retained. I have had a look at doing a Hap and I think it is possible. I would use part of a BG bodyside(I have a spare one in the loft!) for the toilet window area. The window would need shortening to match the others, but if you use Replicas flush glaze toilet window you can alter that to match. Hopefully the MLV won't be to far away, thats the impression I got when I talked to them at the Peterborough show. As for the 4Epb its getting its blue coat at the moment.

That looks mighty fine Pete . What colour are you going to finish it? I am still waiting for the kit to reappear so I can do myself a Blue one. I have a Roxey detailing kit for it waiting to go.
Cheers, Ian

That's a good looking EPB
Thanks very much Pete. It's also quite an easy EPB, what with fush glazing packs and no hinges to put on!!

Hi,
Good stuff Xerces Fobe. I quite fancy doing a 501. I remember seeing them at Wimbledon (I think), and the experimental one always seemed to be in Clapham yard when I went spotting there. Pix, suburban to 4Vep seems a big step, especially with etched window surrounds. MJT do a 4Vep, a much easier proposition!

Hi Mark,
I have done another one since and on the second one I used the Replica powered chassis mounted in one of the trailer coaches. This gives the advantage that you can use a close coupling mechanism on the DMBS should you require it.
