  1. Morning All, Serious leaking oktas in these parts. Still we haven't had proper rain for a long time. Gardening is off so looks like I'll have to head for the workshop, shame.

    Cheers

  2. Morning All, Misty and moist this morning. Dog decided he didn't want to walk far today so I'm back to the forums in good time. No list in evidence which might be worrying. SWMBO must have hidden it and is going to spring it on me later. Big decision of the day is whether to do more work on the layout and traverser or to have a session with the O gauge 66. Decisions decisions.

  3. Morning All, Too many oktas but at least they aren't leaking. Taking yet another CBA day today, 4th this week! Went in to work yesterday for a meeting with senior management about our pension changes. Wound me and a lot of others up even more to the point that booked today out as well. Still fuming so I intend to go do so modelling to try and break the cycle.

No shows this weekend though it looks like we are on for a trip to Wycombe next Saturday so looking forward to that. Phil has promised to bring the DB9, at least I thought that is what he said. ;)

  4. Morning All, Greyish with a full set of oktas. First working day of the week for me after 3 days off. Unlikely any work will get done as there is a mountain of email to read through and a bunch of resulting actions. It may all be too much and cause me to book Friday off!

  5. Morning All, Aha the reputation system. Probably the most discussed aspect of these new forums other than the use of Blogs for layout and workbench threads!

Don't worry Phil, having been born and lived 28 years not far from High Wycombe (explains the amount of bodging on my layout) I should be able to translate the local speak. As far as I am aware they are also still part of the EU so you won't need your passport.

  6. With music as with the rest of life the old adage rings true, "never leave a bar early". I fear though the key to the puns in ERs is to compose your posts early which certainly isn't my forte!

  7. Morning All, Second day off and was planning to go out and about but there appear to be substantially more oktas in evidence than were predicted by the weather man. A change of plan may be in order.

  8. Morning All, It may be Monday but unfortunately I have three days off, what a shame. There's a list but also the staff will be out and about a fair bit so I might even get some useful stuff done as well. :)

  9. Morning All, Nice an' bright 'ere. Phil doing modelling stuff, better find the snow chains! I ventured into the blogosphere myself a couple of days ago. It's not as obvious as it should be and I'm still not convinced. It's a case of horses for courses I think and not one size fits all.

  10. Morning All, Looks like database problems have kept the usual early crew at bay today! Serious leaking oktas all around in these parts. Luckily I walked the hound dog before they started leaking. SWMBO is out all day so now for a day messing with stuff on the workbench. :)

  11. Morning All, Driving this forum with no images it kinda weird. No idea what DNS propogation has to do with it but then again I've only been messing with these computer thingies 35-odd years. If the configuration relies on it then that doesn't sound good to me.

Plenty of oktas in evidence though no sign of bacon. Better go to work then.

  12. Morning All, Full set of oktas in these parts. Did I lose several days there somewhere or is that just the effect of no RMWeb? Congrats Grandad Phil. :)

Company announced their final pension plan changes yesterday so I'm having CBA day to sort out some of my finances i.e. hide some money from the tax man! Couldn't stand the thought of going in to the office and having the same grumpy conversation about pensions with every other person. Some very seriously annoyed folks around the place. Thankfully for me it just means I'm out of work a couple of years earlier with slightly less money, redundancy by stealth. Could be much worse.

No bacon in sight so I'll just have to make do with a grande caramel machiatto.

  13. I've come across a few BOFH in my time. Thankfully not for some while and then I was usually(!) treated with care as I was the SysProg and could access all the logs and machine diagnostics to see exactly what they were up to at any time of the day. There was invariably a little lull in activty during the night shift when the majority of the operations staff nipped down to the pub for a quicky before closing and/or to pick up a chinese takeaway!

I managed to make myself very unpopular on one occasion when, after a major machine failure had been repaired, a programmer colleague and I ran the whole of the night shifts work in 4 hours while the day shift was also working. We had a bit of a thin out of operators after that!

  14. Morning All, Lot of oktas but no chalk or whiteboard markers. I missed any disruption as we moved to the otherside yesterday. All this wireless networking stuff is fine until you try to use it in a rather large country house built in 1724. Not my residence of course but the office. All the dear little radio wave thingies can't seem to get through the thick walls and heavily plastered ceilings. Still, I only work for a computer manufacturer so what can you expect.

  15. Morning All, In the office already which is a bit on the early side for me. In customer meetings all day so I will probably have forum withdrawal symptoms by 5pm. Lots of oktas but all fairly high altitude. No idea what that means. Have a good one.

  16. Join the grumpy club Gordon. Some of us have been there a while. :) I must admit I am baffled by the difference between layout and workbench blogs and the normal forum threads. Can't for the life of me see why you would want a distinction. Maybe Andy has a grand plan in his head that he hasn't shared with us.

Dave (off to find other things to maon about)

  17. Morning All, Few oktas and a definite chill. Supposed to spend the working day strategising then I am summoned to dinner with a customer this evening. Not much time for modelling or the important things by the looks of it.

It's clear from the pictures that Phil really didn't enjoy the DB9 experience. :icon_biggrin:

  18. In the second link the wombat isn't even using the crossing but has jumped down from the platform to cross the lines!!! Proof positive that Darwin's theory also allows regressive behaviour genes to emerge.

  19. Morning All, No oktas in evidence. Finally found the ERs thread this morning. Anyone know where the "your posts" function is on this 'ere new forum? Haven't found my way round half of the place yet so it's all a bit inconvenient at the moment. I'm sure all will be fine when the dust settles.

    Cheers
