  1. Thanks Mark, Yes thats the plan, I am going to put a colour light signal with route indicator just before the bridge, I already have one near the station so will proably use that. Cheers Peter,
  2. Happy New Year everyone, I have had a bit of time in the garage since Christmas and relayed part of the extension and fiddleyard. Some of you may know that I wasn't happy with how things were going, so after a bit of a rethink I have come up with this, and I am much happier with it. The hidden branch line has been moved and is now easier to clean, the Junction has gone which will make the senic break better and because there is less track entering the fiddleyard the sidings are longer and the whole fiddleyard is less complex, and will be easier to use. The junction will now be off scene, imagined to be just past the overbridge that will form the senic break. On the pic below I have placed a tunnel mouth and some wood to show where the senic break will be. The first pic shows how it was. Cheers Peter,
  3. Hi Mark, Happy New Year, The fiddle yard is looking good I have been redoing mine, it's very tempting to fill it full of trains but Ihave still got to wire it up. Cheers Peter,
  4. Hi Kevin, No worries, I didn't see it but was told one of the DCWA 50s like 50042 pictured above, did work a ballast out of Eastleigh one Sunday, so you could have one on ballast. Pretty sure 50002 'Superb' was a Mule loco NSSA. Cheers Peter,
  5. Hi Kevin, Happy New Year to you and your family, Thanks for the pics. Nice one of the class 50, I remember seeing a NSE 50 arriving at Eastleigh on a special MOD train from Dinton, I uncoupled the loco and it went LE straight back to Salisbury. Cheers Peter,
  6. Hi Dave, Happy New Year, Januarys Modelrail wont be here in Oz for a couple of months so I will have to wait. Cheers Peter,
  7. Hi Chard, long time follower of your layout thread and blog, Your Brush 4s are looking good, I am working on one myself and Pennine MC had some useful pics on the old forum which shows the bogie mods and what he did about improving the the fuel tank and battery box area. I have done the same on my loco and it didn't take too long, always a bonus as I tend to get bored if things take to long or get difficult. Cheers Peter,
  8. Hi all, Thanks Mickey, I may be talented at model railways but thats about it. Hi Lukasz, I got my Beacon Models about Five or more years ago, there was an ad in Railway Modeller and a friend of mine made an order and got a couple for me, I am not sure if they are still available I haven't see them advertised for a while. Hi Dave, The signals do work but manually so it would be possable to put a motor underneath. I did make them over 15 years ago so it is quite possable that they are wrong. Any help would be appreciated, I will take some pics of the reworked extension as I nead help there too. I was asked about my ground signals, are they off the right way I am sure they are correct but I can change them if they are wrong. I am going to try and get a LRM kit of a LNWR signal box as they are about the same price as the Bachmann one, and the kit will be better for me as I wil have to change which end the steps go, thanks for letting me know such a kit was available. Cheers Peter,
  9. Hi Rick, I love that last pic, I can almost hear that English Electric thrash. I think young Doug has had more than a heavy session, not only is he seeing double he's lost his memory. Cheers Peter,
  10. Hi Gary, I think Glenuig is looking superb the senic work and stock are great and it has a real Scottish feel to it. It's a shame you haven't left room for a boat, is possable to make the baseboard a bit wider? Maybe curving out from the fiddle yard end to where the station is, just a thought. I don't blame you for buying a class 26 either they are a great little loco, I bought one myself and I don't model the Scotttish region, not yet anyway. Cheers Peter,
  11. Hi Arp, I am with Colin, those pics look cool. Looking forwards to more pictures. Cheers Peter,
  12. Hi Guys, Hope everyone had a great Christmas. Hi Lukasz, Yes that is a Beacon models Cortina, I have almost finished a Metro as well. The crew bus is a Corgi Ford Cargo with a scratch built back, there was an article in an old Modelrail supplement with some measurements though I still stuffed it up and made it a bit wide. Hi Keith, The BRUTEs are an etch which you have to fold up and solder together, mine are by Shirescenes but I think other people are doing them as well. I would like to make one of those 3 or 4 wheeled battery powered vehicles that were used to pull them about do you have any pics. BR ones were yellow and the Post office ones were red. Thanks Mark and Preservation modeller, while there is plenty of interest I will keep the pics coming. Cheers Peter,
  13. Hi all, Being as I have decided to keep Llanbourne as a terminus I thought I would post a couple of pics of locos on the blocks. Thanks for all the feedback during the year guys and Merry Christmas to you and your families. Cheers Peter,
  14. Come on Phill, how about some of your stuff in the thread section. Cheers Peter,
  15. Hi Trevor, I must have missed this one on the old forum, I am glad I have found it now though its Great, I love the trackwork that crossover looks superb, and you can't beat a nice blue class 37. Nice attention to datail too love the aerials on the houses. Cheers Peter,
  16. Hi Dave, It's an old Lima model, 47546 Aviemore Centre. I have a Bachmann 47 that I am going to do as 47550 it was one of the first Scottish 47s I saw on my first trip to Scotland. I think it would be a top loco to do, though it has a blanked off round boiler port so check your Heljan one, though I think they did both types. Inverness did have some non-standard large logo 47s. I am pretty sure the roof was left blue though they were always dirty, and they did have different cab surrounds with a bit of yellow just around the top. another thing is I think some Scottish locos had smaller large numbers like the ones fitted to 37s, the numbers on my 47546 are a bit big, but don't tell anyone. I think a nice Inverness loco storming out of Waverley West would look great. The Inverness Duffs certainly got about a bit and were quite common at Waverley . Here are a couple of pics. Starting with two nice Inverness locos. 47550 and 47467. Cheers Peter, Cheers Peter,
  17. Yes, post a few pics and see how you go. To hot in the garage tonight, here are a couple of pics, I don't think I have posted these before. Cheers Peter,
  18. Hi Keith, Yes the layout will stay the same, and I will carry on with the extension now I ave worked out what I am doing. Bachmann class 47/4 and Vi trains 37/4 on the workbench as we speak. 20s, 25s 31, 33, 40s 45, 47s, 50, 56, in boxes waiting to be done. Cheers Peter,
  19. Thanks Mate, Are you going to do a layout thread, I wold like to follow your progress, sounds good. Cheers Peter,
  20. Hi Dave, I am not sure about diagrams for 25s, I had aquick look here, 1980s timewarp and Derbysulzers. I remember seeing them on a couple of freights which I think would probably be shared turns with other type 2s. They did work the odd passenger train but wouldn't have been booked any turns as far as I know. I found out a few years back, a class 25 was working some Edinburgh - Carstairs portions while I was up there. I remember seeing a 25 stabled at Carstairs but had no idea it would work a passenger. Oh, and I think I am sorted with Llanbourne. Cheers Peter,
  21. Thanks for your thoughts everyone, its been most welcome and helpful. The question is why did I think about going for the roundy roundy in the first place? Well I wasn't happy with the extension, but only parts of it, the scenic break to the fiddle yard was the main problem, and then there was the hidden track over the back being hard to clean and the over complicated track layout in the fiddle yard, and fiddle yard being a bit cramped. It's good to know if I really want to I can go roundy roundy in the future I could, but for now Llanbourne will stay as a terminus. The extension will be changed though, but not drastically. The junction will go, leaving just 2 tracks entering the fiddle yard and the hidden branch track will be moved closer for easier cleaning, removing the junction means less track going into the fiddle yard and means less pointwork and longer sidings. Removing the junction also means the scenic break problem is solved. I wont be doing any thing this week as I have started working on a class 47 but over the next few weeks I will sort things out. Cheers Peter, P.S. Mrs PCM is happy and this is always a good thing
  22. Hi Dave, If only a few 37s had that Scotrail liv its probably why I don't remember seeing it, Nice night pics, I am not sure I saw all of those before. Glad to hear you are getting a class 25 for Waverley they were quite common in the 80s. Cheers Peter,
  23. Hi Mark, Your layout is looking great bye the way, I am not doing anything to the terminus just yet, though I am pretty sure the extension is going to be scrapped, its just not doing it for me. I will relay the fiddle yard and get on with some locos, as I have a 47 and 37/4 to do, well actually there are a few more than that but they will do for a start. Sorry about the beach shot, though you are in a lovely spot there. You are always welcome to visit if you come to Aus. Glad you like the pics, the NSE stock did get about a bit after a while, I remember going to Barrow on a Railtour with a 31 and 26 I think that was MK1 stock. CheersPeter,
  24. Thanks for the pics Jol, very nice. Cheers Peter,
  25. Hi James, Yeah, I am still not sure what to do, I think you are right about changing the feel of the layout, maybe I should just finish what I started, and get some of the building finished off. I am still not sure about the extension I have sterted, I think I will have a running session and see how it works. Anyway, here are a few pics. 33010 & 33026 depart for Crewe on a provincial service, a tatty 45036 waits in platform 4 on a train for York and 45111 sits on the shed headshunt, a Pacer sits in the middle road. Cheers Peter,
