I agree about the communication niggle. IMHO worse than not knowing when a future release will arrive is being given a date and having that date pass (twice) without further explanation of why.
This is my experience too. Except ive had 3 estimates of delivery times when ive contacted them and none have transpired.
I appreciate they have been overwhelmed, but a quick update email now and then to say what order numbers they are upto surely isnt expecting too much.
I paid for my Blue 25 in full last November, but with a combination of a change in layout plans and my patience running out this has led me to email them to cancel my order and request a full refund.I only need one 25 and I prefer the earlier blue version of which i have one on order.
Ive 4 class 24s but ill be selling some due to my change in plans, they are without doubt the best quality.
Im sure lessons will have been learnt and will make it a better experience next time around for all concerned.

I spoke to slw a few weeks ago about my sound 25 as i paid for it in full last November and had heard nothing from them since.
I was told to allow another few weeks which by my estimate means it should be with me by end of this month.
Fingers crossed.

These look like good kits and maybe worth consideration.
You havnt mentioned which scale your modelling in, these are 4mm but they do other scales and different buildings. 🙂

I can find out what ESU recommend however you could also do a visual check through the access port with the body off just to see if the cover looks to be correctly in place.
Good idea, thank you

Update for all with gear issues. It looks like after testing a fraction of the locos were packaged but not always correctly positioned on the cradle before screwing down, this pivots the bogie unduly under the pressure of the screws and appears to have popped the worm cover (part 31 below) off of the offending bogie causing this issue. It's an easy fix but one that requires in the first instance to take the body off and attempt to clip the cover back on though the access holes in the side of the chassis block (69 below). Whilst easy it can be fiddly and if it proves a problem the tower can be accessed by removing the circuit board above and clipping the cover back on. We can understand if you do not want to do that and instead prefer the retailer or ourselves to do the work but in the first instance doing the job yourself is the fastest route to resolve the issue.
Thanks for clear instructions just in case.
My 56008 arrived with ine wheel set off the cradle but i do not have a dcc controller to test yet.
Can i do a simple mechanical test run using a dc gaugemaster combi ?
I ask as ive heard of people frying chips with feedback controllers but im pretty sure the combi isnt one of these but would prefer some reassurance before testing :-)
Many thanks

I havnt got a DCC controller at the moment for my 56008 sound edition.
Am I ok to test its running with a Gaugemaster Combi?
Thanks

..... I assume the first port of call is the retailer.
I think a few pages back RBE mentioned that any issues should be reported back to the retailer in the first instance.

Blimey, who did you order from and did you pay for next day delivery? I paid for a preorder on Wednesday and ordered another via a retailer’s website on Thursday and no sign of either, seeing all these different pictures now……🥲 cheers, Rob
Hi, I ordered from Rails, no fast delivery selected.
Just their standard free included DPD delivery.

Well 56008 has just arrived, less than 24 hours from clicking Pay Now to knock at the door.
Im in total awe of this model, I can only describe it as museum quality.
I must have spent 5 minutes just staring at all the bogie detail, its so exquisite its almost as if the mechanics, springs and brake blocks would happily move.
My wife actually asked me if I was ok as I had gone quiet for a while !
Hoping BR Blue 56002 maybe in the pipeline for one of the next batches, according to my notes my late father spotted it 1984 so that would be a special one for me.
Surely a contender for model of the year.
A big thank you to Cav and Alex for bringing this model to market.
Their obsession with detail is truly astounding and all I can say is when your model arrives just sit with it for a while and enjoy looking it over and their hard work and dedication will dazzle you.
Thank you chaps.

And I understand the drivers seat doesn't have a adjustable mechanism...tut tut
Whaaaat, ive just placed my order for 56008 and now i find out its not that detailed after all.
Youll be telling me next it doesnt drop oil on the track either or have a miniature copy of The Sun newspaper on the control desk showing page 3 !

It's decorated as per the real loco, as are all of our models, in the condition that it was delivered in the mid 70s. When 008 arrived in the country it had BR blue handrails and the 8 had been applied upside down.
Ah brilliant, thank you for the information and education :-)
-
Just looking at the new photos on Rails.
Im curious why the 8 on 56008 looks upside down/different and is positioned differently to the preprod sample and prototype photos I can find.
Edit.
Although im looking at different sides of the loco so maybe its positioned differently on each side.

Trying desperately to choose a livery, the maroon one looks red in some pictures and deeper maroon in others.
Obviously down to lighting but for those that have this colour how would you describe it in your eyes please.
Thanks.

I'm sure there are good business reasons why not, but could the sound files be made available to purchase separately? So those with different liveries have the choice of announcements?
The sound files are being installed by Kernow if i remember correctly.
Im sure they would consider putting a different sound file or theirs of your choice in your model.
Worth a phone call maybe :-)

There's an awful lot to like and love about this model.
Hidden in there is something you may not have seen before; the motor is cunningly encased in a representation of the vertical boiler.
The running characteristics are superb; as stable on my hyper-sensitive rolling road as anything that's been on there and strong enough to have a tail load of 10 Mk1s. 😐
Muz knows the one bit I'd change.
That motion is mesmerizing.
Buffers look a bit at odd angles, is that the camera angle.
Looking forward to seeing more pictures and films in due course to help me decide which sound one to get.
Current favourite is the all brown version.
Thanks for showing us this.
