  1. Heljan 47's by 47707 Hollyrood original page on Old RMweb __________________________________________ ??? posted on Tue May 05, 2009 5:38 pm I have not got a layout but i am always tinkering about with locomotives. So i thought that i would start a thread as i use the kitchen table as my work bench (much to SWMBO disgust) Just got the bodyshell from Ebay and i had a weathered chassis for it to go onto. I have also fitted the correct bufferbeams and detailed one end with pipes and a Hornby screw link. Its a re-worked bodoyshell to represent both flush ends as this loco had 2 collisions in its lifetime. At the moment though, it has the wrong fuel tanks fitted. It never had the long range fuel tanks. I need to try and source some correct ones. Anyhow, just thought that i would post a few pics.(Just for reference, most of my loco's are 47's ) __________________________________________ Comment posted by 60_fan on Wed May 06, 2009 4:10 pm Great work on the ends Try howes of oxford for fuel tanks as they stock them as spares on a spruce __________________________________________ Comment posted by 43110AndyB on Thu May 07, 2009 10:22 am The 47 is looking good. I think I am right in saying that the damage was sustained to both ends in the same crash (1982). And then it was damaged again years later when it was named 'Doncaster Enterprise'. It certainly was not the luckiest 47. __________________________________________ A few weeks ago i renumbered swallow liveried 47805 into 47806, which was another of my favourite 'Brush'. Also detailed one end with the pipes and now it is awaiting the return of my sound chips from Howes so that it can be fitted with sound once again. It now needs the bufferbeam sides fitting as per one of my RES ones, but i need to find some brass sheet to cut to shape thats thin enough/ The brass used on my Res one (picture included) has the Shawplan bufferbeam side bits n bobs stuck to it before painting and it looks really good to me. Its like its paper thin brass. Can anyone help me with a supplier of such thin sheets please? It will also get Hurst models engine room pipes, and when my order comes a Hornby screw link coupling on the detailed end. Many more are to follow this one, i just need to buy an airbrush now and get confident at weathering.... __________________________________________ ??? posted on Thu Oct 08, 2009 12:39 pm I always wanted to model dutch liveried 47976 'Aviemore Centre'. So i finally found a Heljan 47981 on Ebay and set about renumbering it. I found the numbers and symbols on this were really difficult to remove! I fitted etched BR arrows and Shawplan plates. Just needs some Crewe cats now and some weathering. Although since this picture i have weathered the chassis which involved using an airbrush for my very first time! I need to 'fix' the wonky name plate (which should be easy as its held with a double sided tack sort of tape) __________________________________________ Comment posted by wayne 37901 on Thu Oct 08, 2009 10:44 pm Looks good, would be interesting to see the weathered version... I do need to add some more detail to a Heljan duff I purchased some time ago... That one is 47280 Pedigree in weathered RFD colours, would post up a pic but as I didn't do the work on this particular model I'm not sure it's justified... 2. May be a long shot but would there be any chance of a guide to fitting an Express Models DCC lighting unit into a Heljan 47 and how to wire it all up to a suitable chip?
