I had a major turnout of all sorts of computer junk a few years ago. Nowadays when we have finished with a desktop/laptop it gets to run Darik's Boot and Nuke to ensure it's properly wiped, the screen is modified with a heavy hammer and out it goes!
Incidentally when I started work at Wales Gas Board their recently installed computer was a Burroughs B283 with a whopping 9.6k of memory, 4 magnetic tape drives but no disk. I am writing this on a laptop with 16gb of RAM and 1.5tb of disk - how things have changed over the past 58 years!

Faeces* are liquidised, filtered and the resultant liquid is administered by colonoscopy. The patient is prepped and managed as for a diagnostic colonoscopy (bowel prep before and something like propofol during). After administration, the patient is discharged (or sent back to the ward) and instructed to take/given an antimotility drug - such as loperamide - for a short while afterward. The antimotility drug slows down bowel function (it increases the time material stays in the intestine, allowing more water to be absorbed, It also decreases colonic movements and suppresses the gastrocolic reflex).
If all goes well, the patient ends up with a gut full of healthy "good bacteria" and is on the mend....
*not just any old poo, there's a detailed protocol associated with obtaining the right "good gut bacteria"
TMI 😁

As Olddudders has said, there is only one issue of eyes, you need to get it checked out. Does Cardiff have an eye infirmary?
University of Wales Hospital in Cardiff has a very good eye clinic - I have glaucoma and go there twice a year.
Rob I would strongly advise you to go to A & E - they will refer you to the clinic if needed.

All this talk of Spam reminds me of my retirement ten years ago. I was Information Security Manager at a small bank and my duties included the management of the spam filters on the email gateway.
My boss added a tin of said meat product to my leaving present - I ate it the following week in my luchtime snack - our main meal is at teatime.
I don't recall ever having spam fritters.

All this talk of office software and nobody has mentioned Wordstar running on DOS or CDOS - it disappeared when Windows became in fashion.
And lets not forget Lotus 123, DbaseIII and Freelance Graphics 😁

I was in the same position as you and my friends advised against providing steps given legal liabilty in the event of an accident. I took their advice.

We also did the walk along the course of the Saundersfoot Railway to Wisemans Bridge, well worth it if you are down in that part of the country. Although we didn't do it this year there is an interesting extension to the walk if you follow the trackbed from Wisemans Bridge to Stepaside. The first time we did that we were amazed to see the remains of the old iron works and mine.
Hopefully will get some more modelling done soon.
Brian
Brian,
Had several caravan holidays there as a boy at the back end of the 1950s. In those days there were no raiings!

Reading the stories of inconsiderate parking I was reminded of a story told me by a former colleague many years ago.
It seems that a group of bikers visited Barry Island, parked outside a night club and proceeded to to cause mayhem within. Now it appears this club was owned by a couple of brothers who were the type you would not cross.
The Constabulary were called and took the offenders to the nick leaving the bikes unattended on Barry Island. Unfortunately during the night a large heavy lorry, never identified, ran over the bikes causing considerable damage to them.
I suspect bikers gave that club a wide berth thereafter!

In between times, I found that the call box is a model PA3 again designed by Tench. The Cardiff one (IIRC) differed by being square-cut at the top and had and orange light rather than a red one. It didn't carry the City of London arms neither, but what it had as a symbol (if it had one), I don't remember.

Phillip,
I can remember another one in Cardiff on the corner of Greenway Road and Rhyl Road in Rumney - only ever saw the amber light flashing on one occasion 😀

Is the white patch where the incriminating photo should be?😄
I too have a childs identity card from that era - @martin_wynne has blanked out the bit with his name, address etc. These cards did not have a photo.

I am in one of those should I - shouldn't I dilemmas. I have always had a soft spot for the Pentax LX SLR, it was the much lesser recognized alternative to the Nikon F3 and Canon F1 flagship 35mm system SLR bodies. Many years ago I lusted after one as it was a beautifully made item with a feel of quality which is rare yet was smaller and lighter than Nikon and Canon alternatives. It was closer to the Olympus OM series, which were famous for their compactness.
Pentax - my first serious camera in 1972 was a Pentax SP500 followed by a Spotmatic F. When their lens mount changed from screw to bayonet I changed to Nikon (1977) and stayed there. There followed a pair of FEs, F3s F100, D70, D600 and now a Z6. This has worked well for me, auutofocus came just as my sight was aging, digital replacing film made it much easier when lecturing in camera clubs and the Z6 a comparatively lightweight mirrorless camera in my early 70s when a smaller lighter body was appreciated.
I now carry the Z6 with just two lenses - 14-30 mm and 24-200mm
I haven't kept any old gear but my advice is to buy the camera and enjoy admiring it.

For those who have existed in blissful ignorance - Ely, is a large council estate on the west side of Cardiff.
.
It is where I spent many years 'pounding the beat'
.
In policing circles it was widely believed "if you can work Ely, you can work anywhere"
.
Having hung up my uniform in 2009 (but did return in a 'New Tricks' role) I could be forgiven for thinking times had moved on in my old patch.
.
But no - this is what confronted current officers this week in Deere Road, Ely.

On another occasion in the Rank when things had got a bit hairy, I'd retreated to the toilets out of a sense of self preservation (I prefer this description to the more accurate rank cowardice) when a very large and capable looking West Indian gentlemen entered for much the same purpose. 'Not goin' back out dere, man, dem girls is fighting, an' they dirty'. I understood.
Wasn't it "Grab a Grannie" night on Mondays at the Rank?

Yet another day of wallpapering - numerous difficult areas completed, which now means all the upstairs bit now has lining paper attached. Tick. It should be a lot easier for a while, with less acrobatics.
The wallpaper samples I ordered arrived today, which is handy - all I need to do is decide which texture I want before ordering, along with yet another tub of Paste; that'll be a Deltic plus a wagon that won't be arriving at Bear Towers. T.C's
PB, I've followed the ongoing saga of the H/S/L refurbishment - all I can say is "Thank goodness I can afford to pay someone to do it for me".
I remember the words of my late father many years ago - when I told him I was papering the lounge he said "My decorating days are thank God" - he was in his 70's (as I am now) and was absolutely correct!

My mistake — I forgot that Ashburton ever had trains at it in the preservation era. The extemporised coaling facility should have been a clue. Though the colour in the photo does still look a bit "off" — almost as if it has been colourised.
Many of my slides from that era have faded as that one appears to have done. Once scanned with Vuescan they needed a final tweek in Lightroom

Danemouth - a Seaside BLT

spelling & grammar
Well my mojo has been in hibernation for many months but woke up a few weeks back resulting in me giving the layout a thorough clean and minor alterations to the station platform - originally it had more people which was annoying me.
I purchased an Accurascale Siphon and to round things off a new loco just outshopped from Swindon appeared at Danemouth hauling a Siphon and carriage detached from an express at "The Junction".
Oh look it's 7812 Earlstoke Manor 😁
Cheers,
Dave
