Interesting to see comments on the car parks. I drove in at c 8.30 on Saturday and was directed by marshals into what was signed as an exhibitors area. Well I was not going to debate that one. I asked about the parking fee and how to do it and was told it was free. I supposed it might be for exhibitors? I was not going to disillusion him! Which I duly paid. This leaves a question in my mind about whether exhibitors were not charged and how that was achieved, as the implication seems to me that if I had not paid I would have received a rude letter! Arriving when I did, I could have been a trader or layout operator.
Any way I have never had problems with the principle of paying for car parking. I do though consider that applying the £8 rate after exceeding only 4 hours is a bit excessive.
Exhibitors were given car park passes.

At the west end where the track goes to single line, should there be a trap point?

I used a High Level Quad Drive unit that gives you four wheel drive with a bit of rock in one axle.

If you have prepainted the chairs and sleepers, then you are putting a barrier between them which may prevent the glue from working.
I always glue my chairs to plywood or plastic sleepers before painting. I have not had any problems with butanone doing it this way.

Not Hornby Dublo but Triang Hornby, after Triang took over Hornby Dublo.

Most people put uncoupling magnets at the toe of the points.

1) Are there half etched lines around the axle holes to facilitate fitting of High Level horn guides and blocks?
2) An extra layer for the coupling rods so they can be built with a knuckle joint?
3) What gauges is the kit designed for?

A site visit is definitely worthwhile. The main station building is still standing, now a cafe and the signal box.

That would depend on the route the ship was ordered to take and how many other ports it stopped at, either to load / discharge cargo or take on fuel.

Some branch sheds I believe had a separate water pump near buy to lift water from a river into the shed water tank. This could be driven by steam pressure from the loco.

Looking at your picture I can see curly Pandrol clips and a what looks like flat plate Pandrol clips.
Is it one of these types you are looking to get?

If axle boxes are built to standard RCH dimensions then they become interchangeable, apart from the roller bearings which I believe are designed for faster train speeds.

Given that you are restricted to a 4 x 1 base board you ought to be looking at the length points for each scale, combined with what you want to achieve.
You would be able to achieve an inglenook style layout in all three scales.
Would your stock use commercial couplings as fitted or will you be using the buffers as per the prototype for propelling moves?
What size locos would you want to use? That length plus a couple of wagons will dictate where your first point would be placed.
Have a look at Ian Rice's and James Hillton's books on small layout designs.
