  1. I know in the old LM franchise we did have a revenue team in civvies especially around the West Mids.

They may have started doing this again but that would be WMR and not LNWR I know its one company but thats another story.

I've not heard anything from my colleagues regarding undercover revenue teams but I'll ask the question at work.

  2. The title of this thread has tickled me slightly I mean the the quality of railway uniforms atleast some TOC's have a uniform we are still in the old Londonmidland uniform even though we've been West Midlands Trains for the best part of 10 months now and it's on it's last legs now we had been told that originally it would be August for delivery of the new uniform but its late and now December I'm personally embarrassed to be with this lot to be honest.

And this new uniform well we still dont know if our depot is going to be LNWR (green) or West Mids (orange).

There are many things I'd like to say but not wise to.

  3. I'm also like Anthony I've always kept upto date with Tidworth but never seen it in the flesh so to speak so if I can get a day pass out from SWMBO I'll be hoping to come and see it at Warley.

Even better with all those 50's you cant beat an EE type 4.

  4. I disagree.

I have been using them for years and it is rare I find the difference elsewhere to be worth the effort of an online order.

Bear in mind if you have a loyalty card it is effectively another 5% off. (given on cumalative sales)

I can also concour that IA seems to be playing the game now I've also been using them for at least the past 15 years if anything I find them cheaper as there is no postage fee to pay out seen as I'm in Birmingham playing with the real train set.

  5. looking at the cab of the class 45 I am not impressed with the quality of the working space for the driver,it is basic and looks very dirty at least now a driver can work in a clean well laid out inviroment.

I'd rather be in the cab of the 45 than a 350 desiro purely on the grounds of space and comfort as once your in the seat of the 350 it quickly becomes a bit claustrophobic but on saftey grounds the the 350 is far better.

  6. DAS000601 brings back a lot of memories as my old man was a signaller in Chester 3a in the very early 80's.

I can remember going with him on the afternoon shift and the odd visit on a Saturday afternoon watching all the classic BR blue diesels heading for the North Wales coast great times indeed and of course watching the steam specials around that time until he transferred down the road the Green Lane crossing box now that's a different story taking his lunch to him as we lived that close at that time.

    Great pictures keep them coming

  7. Well after a few weeks of deciding what to do with a new TIm Horn baseboard that measures up at 4ft x 10ins I've decided to build a 4m scale branch line themed layout. Track will be C&L fine scale with some excellent hand built points I've laid the first section as a test piece as it's the first time I've glued the track down instead of track pins.

I'm hoping to build two traversers 3ft x 10ins so I can run a decent operating sequence this time unlike my previous efforts on Ashbridge which is currently in my loft awaiting further developments.

I'm looking at operating on the Western region in the North West and BR blue diesels set in a early 1980's theme.

So the scenery will be carefully arrange so as not to date the layout to much.

I'll hopefully try an upload a few pics when I get the chance.

  8. Great to see your back on here Marcus I did see you back in April on the 50 tour I must say you showed us what the old girls are made of.

It was a bit of a Rmweb meet up on-board as Jim was also floating about.

Keep up the great work on the layout.

  10. I received my copy today and I've had a quick look through and I must say this has to be an excellent bookazine by Mr Wright there are some excellent pictures for anybody who maybe detailing a 47 or two I'm very pleased with this is an understatement.

  11. You could knock up some level crossing barriers as I noticed at the side of platform 5 at Birmingham International this morning there are some redundant level crossing barriers and motor housings they must have been there for years as it's been a few years since the crossings at Canley,Tile Hill and Berkswell have gone.

And you could always have a small section of track with various track circuiting items attached for training and testing purposes there is a good example of this next to the old Coventry PSB I'll try and get a photo for you if it's possible.

Here's the last three pics of Ashbridge to be uploaded on this thread as I won't be continuing with the build of this layout.

Im offering this up for sale as I need the space for the next layout project.

I'll start a new thread when I make a start.

If anybody wants to take this layout on then please message me for the details etc.. but the NCE powercab controller isn't included with the layout that's needed for the next project.

I'll give it a week or so then I'll have no choice but to break Ashbridge up for scrap.

Thank you for all the kind comments through the construction of Ashbridge.

    Cheers

    Colin
