  1. The pic in my last post was taken with a Lumix FS 30 which as far as I know has no way of altering the aperture. It was taken with just the room light on, flash off and a 2sec delay. I am amazed how good the pics come out with this camera.
  2. I must agree with Coachman the smaller the aperture (ie the larger the f number) the greater the depth of field.
  3. Whilst not an ECML person, I do like Gresley caoches and parcels stock (but then I like all [parcels stock), one or two even turn up on Wencombe. Coach is the York portion of the Kingsbridge-Manchester train.
  4. Pleased to see that Geoff has some new fans. I find Penhydd inspiratioanal.
  5. I'd almost forgotten the layout, galad to see such stunning progress.
  6. Potterbourne will be appearing at Warley in Nov. 20011
  7. Whilst the present discussion is interesting and informative, have we run out of "LAYOUTS that have really inspired us" which is the header to this thread?
  8. Quote "Unfortunately, the Anderson shelter is almost hidden" As it should be!
  9. If it wasn't for the Kadees and the rather large stonework in the background I would have sworn the pictures of the Sealions was real.
  10. Whilst waiting for things to set/dry with signal box I actually ran a few trains. 5552 on the late afternoon Kingsbridge/ Exeter stopper with a rake of Collet coaches.
  11. More or less finished. Macro phtography can be a cruel thing. Suddenly noticed what a bad repaint job I'd done What looked vaguely OK in the previous photogrph looks aweful with the macro switched on. All thats left to do is touch up the poor paint job, some subtle westhering and the nameboard Wencombe Signal Box. Just as a matter of interest looking throufg various books some appear to be enamel, so I'm assuming that the board was replaced at the same time as the new enamel running in boards were produced. Can anybody tell me if this would be OK. The photograph of Fred the signalman at work.
  12. Wonderful! I do like the weathering on the building next to the level crossing and the engine shed.
  13. Some more progress today with levers added to the frame. And the Signal box has had the dark stone bits repainted in chocolate to match other woodwork around the station as the time period is 1958-1964. I've also painted various other bits for the inside of the box. Doing this while they dry.
  14. Whoo, thats some cinema facade. I will be looking forward to seeing that model in your excellent style. I do like the Art Deco period.
  15. Thanks Jon, with the wife away for the week I hope to have got it finished by the end of the week and also an unmodified Hall to weather.
  16. First bit of the interior, floor and lever frame. Oh I do realise that this box has internal stairs, I'm cogitating on how to do them. One problem is the thickness of the casting means you do loose a lot of internal space. Took this in passing, not my best pic but I do like the composition even though some of it is out of focus. I must have another go with the DSLR and tripod and things.
  17. I'm just waiting for Poirot to come ot of Hartington Court, brilliant modelling
  18. Thank you Andrew, that type of comment makes it all worth while. the size is 11ft 6ins x 8ft. If you click on the section in my siganature, layout on Old RMweb you'll see it from the very early stages.
  19. Having recentlty bought the new Hornby Radley GWR signal box I hope to do an interior over the next week and to idividualise it.
  20. The next sequence. As the Cornishman leaves on its last leg to Kingsbridge 4561 runs round its train whilst the passengers from the midlands board the B set. 4561 and B set, sets out for Slapton full of happy midland holiday makers.
  21. I understand that the running on the converted Dunwich was not too clever.
  22. On one or to threads lately there have been a series of excellent photos showing the workings (operation of the layout) just as a starter I offer this one of the Kingsbridge portion of the down Cornishman arriving at Wencombe as the connection for Slapton arrives, for once a fraction later than the Cornishman. As the week progresses I will endevour to add a few more shots from the Wencombe timetable.
