  1. I'm pretty sure my wife and I gave up after queuing for 20 mins and getting no nearer it seemed.. Having queued for the best part of an hour to get in I was more than a bit miffed to find out I had to queue inside to see one of the layouts
  2. Yup all weathering is done by moi. In fact the 2-6-0 weathering was all brush work several years ago before I bought an airbrush. Later weathering has mainly used that.
  3. Thought I'd play with the reporting numbers recently aquireddrom Precision labels. On Wencombe 319 is the Kingsbridge portion of the down Cornishman here being pulled byNewton Abbot's 6829 Burmington Grange
  4. Nearly there. Wing mirrors and number plates added.
  5. Good to see another South west layout on here. I do remember it MR I think.
  6. The lorry now glazed and crewed, still need numberplates and some subtle weathering. I would be grateful if someone could direct me to a site which gave 40's and 50's geographic number plates (eg Gloucester was DG or FH)
  7. The lorry gets nearer completion. Some work on windows and tyres needed. Photos do show up faults.
  8. I did make the side lights out of 3mm plastic rod which was then pencil sharpened and then sanded. The wing mirrors will be a thin sliver of 3.2mm rad and brass wire.
  9. Possibly , but I'm thinking of making them out plastic rod, either 1.5mm or 2mm and brass wire.
  10. It's some time since i've posted anything, mainly because not much has been done. But this week I decided that it was time to have a go at Road Transport Images kit that I bought nearly 2 years ago at Warley. so far i've just primed it. It looks like a kit that needs to be painted before being stuck together, it also apears that I may have lost the side lights and wing mirror. I'll write to find if it's possible to get replcements. the tractor unit is a Bedford OXC, once in the employ of British Railways but at Wencombe will have ben bought by a local haulier.
  11. Thanks for that BR(W) perhaps I'll go for Powis Castle, I could do woith an Old Oak loco on the layout.
  12. I toyed with Powis Castle (old oak Common) but I think I'll settle on Caerhays Castle(Bristol)
  13. A slightly closer look Nick the layout has no special lighting, just the bulb in the centre of the room. It is something that I have thought about. The photos are taken with a Nikon D50 DSLR] with the aperture set for the greatest depth of field which leads to an exposure time as long 20+ secs. More recent photos have been taken with a photoflood meaning exposures are down to less than a sec.
  14. Thanks Robin. I did do a fair bit of research when i re numbered the locos to make the byulk of them local to South Devon.
  15. Thanks for that William. Whilst I was weathering 3834 I also weathered two small prairies 4561 and 5552
  16. Some time since I posted Newly weathered and renumbered 3834 arriving at Wencombe. (unfortunately my DSLR is playing silly B's at the moment so took this with my little camera. It looks as if it focused on the trees. Although it does give that griny look of a 1960's pic.
  17. Couldn't resist Robin 3834 on an up coal train arriving at Wencombe
  18. Just love this. Oh for the space to model like this.
  19. I always thought the Peco wagons were very good with the slight springing from the plastic leaf springs. Your Saxa wagon bears ot my thoughts.
  20. Just had a peek at your blog. It's looking good. N ceratinly enables the train in a landscape feel. Can I point you in the direction of an article about the kingsbridge branch in Steam Days mag July2009, that is if you have not already got it.
