  1. As much as Ilike living in the East of Norfolk, there is one problem and that is most exhibitions are at least 50+ miles away most of the better much further. I would love to see your layouts and you in the lamb (whoops flesh) but Somerset is a might to far, particularly in the boating season so cannot even make a short holiday out of a visit. Anyway. I hope all goes well.

  2. Nice one Emporia ( sorry I don't know your name as your post isn't signed)

I nearly did that version but the photo was meant to have been taken in the 60's so I stuck with a far less sepiaed photo.

    However back to the Grampus.

Having totally messed up folding the step etch for the end of the wagon I decided I could make a couple from my store of different sizez of Evergreen angle strip.

    the result was this

Being satisfied I then removed the wheels and primed the wagon ready for painting

  3. As my final word on the chassis's  my source "British Rail DMUs  and Diesel Railcars (origins and first generation stock)" by Brian Morrison Points out that both 117 and 119 were built to  a standard Derby design the main differnce being the different interpretation of the Destination panel and train number positioning. It would stand to reason that the 121 and 122 were built also to that standard and as they have the same engines, to me the likelyhood would be they would have had a similar chassis.

Enough lets get on with some modelling

Passengers have arrived and been primed

And work has progressed on the Grampus

  4. I'm not so sure about Paul R's comment about different chassis as both classes had Two BUT (AEC) engines although some 121 had two leyland engines, both types six cylinder horizontal engines rated 150hp.

And none of the photos I have bar a couple of ex works photos show a clear image of the chassis's. They either in shadow or covered in grime and each side had a different arranement of gubbins.

back to the model passenegers have ben ordered from Modelu which will hopefully arrive by the weekend and to fill the gap i am building a second grampus for the ballast train. No photos as yet.

  5. I normally run my stock with the roofs on, so having a finely detailed inside not normally seen seems to me a waste of money, Similarly over detailed underframes not usually seen unless one runs ones stock upside down. It strikes me that all this extra detail takes the need away for railway MODELLERS to actually model, by adding said detail themselves if they feel its needed.
