  1. How about 'Screaming Child' Usually happens when I try and smile in a friendly way...
  2. http://album.atomic-systems.com/showPic.php/39357/TBS.jpg
  3. I was thinking a steel overbridge (rail over road) might go well with the abutments kit R015 An example of what I was thinking is here: http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?hl=en&ll=50.83424,-0.279308&spn=0.000575,0.001635&t=h&z=20&layer=c&cbll=50.83424,-0.279308&panoid=jC7BRsds6GikFBz5hk6fJQ&cbp=12,331.75,,0,-2.88
  4. I was 5 when NSE livery came in. I remember setting eyes on it the first time and wanting our next train to be "that blue one" I model BR blue as it was what was there when I was a kid. Like people say, so much variety.
  5. Or something conceived by Leonard of Quirm, perhaps? ...Or Bloody Stupid Johnson.......?
  6. I can try. It'll take a while as the coaches are all packed up at the moment.
  7. They sound like a halloween novelty toy. Not good.
  8. I would cut the loop and remove the hook from one end of each coach which gives closer coupling. Try one and see if you like it as it gives a much easier and cheaper method. See the diagram below.
  9. I saw one at Gaugemaster on Wednesday. The finish seemed fine, but then I only looked at it in a glass case. I'd buy one but it's a bit out of my era.
  10. Preferably moulded in clear plastic...
  11. Ah ok no probs. You know what our postal service is like...
  12. Anyone thought about using a Walkman motor? A friend of mine remotored a Lima Deltic (using a scratchbuilt chassis though) and it ran smoothly at all speeds.
  13. To be fair guys you only sent them off the other day...
  14. Fishing weights perhaps? Is there a tackle shop near you?
  15. Hi Kipford! Great layout and a great idea. I do like the touch of the bus (not Brighton Corporation though, it's the old BH&D - I drive for them!) and the double tunnel idea. I do know someone who has photos of the branch, as well as pictures of the last train in 1971, along with demolition pictures. I'll see if he can shed (heh) any light on those two buildings.
  16. Regarding the gangway issue, That would be easily solved by Hornby issuing a sprue of parts where the gangway is moulded correctly so a new door basically masks the old one. I finally got mine out and had a look at it but I wasn't able to run it much as I only had access to an end to end layout so I couldn't test it round any 2nd radius curves. Maybe I should head to Gaugemaster and get some settrack to make a running in oval. Then I'll be able to post my thoughts on here properly .
  17. Well. I've done it! I've ordered a blue one. I'll now wait until it arrives and see what it's like "in the plastic" so to speak. And then start minor mods/weathering etc. I'll see if I can scratchbuild a new door for the end as I haven't the balls to cut into a brand new model just yet.
  18. I'll probably get one but I'd like to see a CIG from Bachmann.
  19. The Jumper boxes were a sort of cabinet attached to the ends of the coaches. They carried the jumper cables between the cars. A photo of them is here: http://www.semgonline.com/gallery/pics/cd_4tc_5.jpg
  20. I'll get one when I have the money. What was the Pencil Trick? Does anyone have a link?
  21. The activities of a certain Leopold Redpath in the 1850s couldn't have helped much... "Briefly he 'misappropriated' a large amount of money from the Great Northern railway, and 'used it for the furnishings of magnificent houses and purchase of articles of vertu'. The Great Northern were planning to build a part of what was to become London Underground. This was in 1857, and his other claim to fame is that he was one of the last criminals to be transported to Australia." A more detailed description of his actions can be found here: http://www.iln.org.u...ine/page18.html
  22. As the gangway as modelled appears to be a separate piece it's a shame they couldn't have modelled the door further forward as a part of that.
  23. Could be a reissue of the old Airfix GWR B-Set.
  24. Yes. I remember Maidstone Barracks (I do believe the guy who built it is - or was - on RMWeb) I saw it in a Railway Modeller I picked up once from somewhere. I spent hours reading through it and studying the photographs. My planned layout will be SR third rail as a result.
