I bought RP25 wheels from benno002-2 on eBay

Look forward to seeing how this develops, I have a vague recollection that Con-cor did that type of cover but on an older rivetted gon with fish belly side.

No problem, Job, I wonder if whisky bottlers did the same?

Smashing modelling Job.
On the subject of defeating light fingered locals, Players cigarettes were shipped in containers like the Bachmann one that were then loaded into five plank wagons at Nottingham goods depot so the doors couldn't be opened.

How about a project box from Maplin?

Glad to see things are coming together, look forward to your future posts.
I photgraphed one of the Ofotbanen Rc6s at Gallivare in 2009 after it had passed to SJ, if anyone's interested it's on my Flickr site at

Hi Job,
I had another look at the canal on the way to work today. Some of the canal side and the locks are done in stone blocks. So you could pretty much do whatever you like the look of. There's an article on canals in this month's British Railway Modelling.

Hi Job,
The canal bank I walk along every morning is brick with some more modern (1920's?) Sections. It is blue engineering brick but there are sections above the water level in ordinary red brick.

Hi Stephen,
Looking nice! I recall a great trip from Nice to Breil sur Roya in one of these, comfortable units with nice big windows.
One tip on masking that I picked up is once you put the masking on spray a coat of the base coat (light grey) to seal the edges, I used on my latest American project and it really helped. I've found Tamiya paper masking tape gives good results too.

Nice coil cars - how about a washing machine factory on the layout?

There may be more, the OSLK site lists Norwegian shops as well. There are a number of Swedish shops that carry other Scandinavian and take credit cards, I don't know the situation in Norway but I found many Danish shops only take DanKort or bank transfers.

No worries, just regret I didn't take any "in progress" pics.

Hi Ian,
Probably a bit late but I've done some removable loads where the strapping coincides with the 4"x 2" that the load sits on and is glued underneath so the load and the timber lift off together. Like this one; http://www.flickr.com/photos/nicks_trainstuff/7515456218/in/photostream
Hope this helps.

Thanks for posting a very interesting set.

Hi Stephen, looks impressive.
You mention the two white stripes alog the car, have you considered decals? Both Fox Transfers and Microscale do packs of white stripes in various thicknesses.

I've heard of Perlmodell, they look like they build up very nicely. That Ingersoll Rand boxcab looks pretty good at the head of the rake too!

They are smart, who makes (made) the kit?

Awesome! Inspired by the DB v320 by any chance?
