hmm yes, ground floor shopper's paradise. I'm now feeling disturbed that I inadvertently started the day with a Phil Collins lyric in my head, albeit ironically given the weather.

  4. another day, another hotel. On the plus side its not raining and I've sussed the ironmongery for another templot crossover plan.

  5. another year, another cv. Still after this one a little CAD time beckons. The staircase arcading is slowly coming together and may see the light of day this year!

Hope it`s a bright sunny day and the CV works wonders for you.

  6. Armed only with this bottle of merlot, some drawings, card and the newsquiz on the i-player I have set forth on a quest for the 1/4 size layout mockup. There may be contours ahead, but while there's scalpels and spraymount and templot and maps, lets face the archive and guess.

  7. Austerity modelling ago-go. In the spirit of the age of Jeffery Osborne, not the RA Riddles WD designs, its see what the fails box can provide to be cobbled together to provide viable projects. So far I"m down one J-72, but up another J-72 and hopefully a j-94 too when the frames turn up.

frames now turned up plus three D&S kits I'd forgotten about. Now I"m torn. They're a little early for my period but very nice.... decisions decisions

  10. back in business again: templot and helicon safely installed onto new macbook. Time for a large sigh of relief and to get stripping and rebuilding the imac to sell it

hmm looking at the weather, I shall dress accordingly..... gold plated waders and a chrome sou'wester. Bring round my flagship and prepare to make smoke. Also, given the moist atmospheric conditions today have my zeppelin crew stand down.

run away. A tactless retreat undertaken in the face of "chicken curry pasty"!

  15. bodging in the wagonarium - now this is how a day off should be

  16. brain meltdown resulting from trying to visualise 90deg r/h lead transfered t oan upright wheel press from an upside down chassis. THUNK.

  17. Brass should be lime green: this way when all the handrail knobs fall off the desk they can be found again.

    1. Ozexpatriate

      Ozexpatriate

So long as you don't have lime green carpet, though I don't suppose that's a problem for many.

The landlord has.... tastefully..... gone with a beige scheme. Perhaps reverse chameleon brasswork so it singularly fails to blend in, whatever the background?

  19. bridge to engine room: make revolutions for full ahead. I've 4 chassis to do before I have to give back the techno jig. Best get a move on.

Would that be Mrs. Trellis from North Wales?

    3. Steve Taylor

      Steve Taylor

well lets be honest any fruitcake from anywhere would be welcome, though north wales's Mrs T and the ghost of Humph would be excellent. Clue vol3 has helped through 8 blocks and guides, 4 spacesavers and twelve min-blocks.

      Steve Taylor

question to self: always overstock on small stuff by at least 50% to one engines worth to allow for mangling and launching or glue everything to the desk before starting?

  20. bridge to engine room: make revolutions for full ahead. I've 4 chassis to do before I have to give back the techno jig. Bet get a move on.

  21. bring me the asbestos thimbles, I'm going in.

  22. ccl, cc, cc, cc, ccr, s1, s1, s1, s1 (reversed)

  23. Csb on ivatt 4 tender complete. Bemused by spring rates. To my mind looks to saggy but it matches the pictures. The test will be will it match the loco.

      Steve Taylor

Aye thats the one. Its gone together not too badly considering my two left thumbs, but if this was a car i'd be saying stiffer/longer spring rates or up the coilover rates. Should it sit on the bumpstops?

    3. Horsetan

      Horsetan

I thought the whole point was to have the suspension allowing the engine to sit in mid-travel, not on the bumpstops.

    4. Steve Taylor

      Steve Taylor

hmmmm, thought so. The j-72 was set at mid (ish) travel. This seems to have settled on the stops so off to ye olde-worlde shoppe of geetars in town on my lunch break tomorrow. From tens to 12/13s me thinks.also time to check Chris Pendleton's article in MRJ 175.

  24. csb-ed j72 frames are now dry built with blocks hangin nicely. WEight of desk has doubled due to missing self-propelled handrail knobs hiding arund the place
