  1. It looks to me like there's two styles of Bachmann 47s that have split paths somewhere in the past - the 47/0 which has the rivetted windows and ex-Class 57 tanks, and the 47/4 (and variations thereof as well as the mid-life 47/3) that has the correct body and variations of correct tanks. It's a shame that Bachmann haven't binned the incorrect 47/0 tooling and just stuck with the 47/4 (how many people would have minded a headlight for the sake of having correct tanks and windows?)

  2. Having been away from the world of RMWeb, layouts, scenery, OO gauge, DCC, sound files etc, for a few years while I ventured into building O gauge locos, I'm now back in this zone planning a new DCC HO layout. It's good to see this old 'sounds' thread still running with some great videos to watch.

I thought I'd post this link an old video I made showing a OO 8F running on my previous layout.

See if you can identify the sound chip:

Does nothing for me I'm afraid - I was keen until the chuffs fell completely out of sync with the wheel rotations...

  3. The stock photo on the Hattons website shows the lack of headcodes, and it's entirely authentic - there's a great photo on Flickr of D9526 at Westbury in 1977 (that unfortunately I can't link to properly as I'm on my phone!) showing the removed headcodes.

    Edit - hope this works....

  4. It would look good on any layout that covered the era that it worked in when on the mainline.

If you're insinuating it in Heritage Green....all 8 months (?) of it! :D although of course there's countless Replica 45106s running around on '1960s' layouts.....a personal pet hate?
