  1. DEFine regret to announce that we have decided to CANCEL the planned DEFine Modellers Day due to be held on the 15th January. This is mainly down to the current restrictions that apply to public gatherings and the increasing Covid-19 infection rates being experienced. We will continue to assess the situation and hopefully host the event at the earliest opportunity. Thank You The DEFine Team

  10. Does anyone have a source for foam inserts that fit inside 4L Really Useful Boxes (except for Ten Commandments), suitable for 4 mm scale stock ? I got some before for the larger boxes from JB2mmWorld but he doesn't seem to be answering emails so may not do them now. I know other methods of stock storage are available so would like to keep this on-topic. Thanks Pete

  13. If you missed out event yesterday, check out this video Thanks to to all the RMWeb members who attended our DEFine Modellers Day yesterday and helped to make it a success. I think we had some great layouts as the video shows and the atmosphere was in keeping with previous years of being very informal and relaxed. Many people turned up at or just after opening at 10am and stayed for the whole day which must mean they were enjoying the show. The organising team also had a great day and we appreciate the support we got from the exhibitors who gave up their time to entertain our guests. There were a few sore throats at the end of the day, either from the amount of chatting that was done or the amount of tea and coffee that was drunk. Our social zone in the centre of the hall with free mags to take away always seemed busy with people chatting and at one point all the seats were full! Given we covered our costs for the day (we don't run it for profit) we will be considering DEFine Modellers Day 4 for 2020, as we have already had expressions of interest from exhibitors wanting to attend. Thanks again The DEFine Team

  17. Now that Exactoscale have taken the range back "in-house" things look promising for those of us who model our own track in P4. There is also the excellent range of Colin Craig flat-bottom track components and kits. Colin was at DEMU Showcase both days this weekend but not as a trader, he spent most of his time sharing his extensive knowledge of trackwork. On another point, I spoke with two traders in particular over the weekend who didn't expect to make a lot of money out of the event, but they just liked being there and wanted to be seen to be supporting D&E. The attraction of the wide range of real ale pubs and curry houses in Burton was also an attraction underlining the social aspects of this event. Pete
  18. This weekend I was working on a trade stand opposite C&L and they looked like they were doing well, especially on the Saturday as you would expect. DEMU covers the era 1955-Present Day so there are plenty opportunities for bullhead opperation. Many yards and stabling points still have bullhead in place. Pete
  19. Stephen, I have been reading the posts you have put up on this thread and cant help thinking that you must be commenting from a position of ignorance as to who builds their own track and what shows like DEMU Showcase are about. A significant number of D&E modellers that I know of are also members of the S4 society or the EMGS, sometimes both. These guys (me included) have chosen to build more authentic track work and model in a gauge that is more representative of the real thing. The numbers I am sure are rising and it is great to know that Exactoscale will once more be standing on its own again, and that C&L have continued to trade. We also have the excellent Colin Craig kits and details to call on for flat bottomed work. There will always be a place for PECO ( and their latest products on finer looking points are an improvement), but there are many of us out there that are modellers of track and modifiers of stock. On the subject of DEMU Showcase, I organised that for 4 years and one of the rules we had (which I believe is still alive), is that we keep trader rents to a minimum in order to attract the smaller guys who often produce the parts that real modelllers want. In some cases we waived the rent in order to give them a leg-up and make the show more attractive to attendees, whilst at the same time keeping entry fees as low as possible. Showcase is not a cash-cow for DEMU or any trader that attends and that is recognised. What it is is the most significant event in the calendar for D&E Modellers and the trade to come together and look at whats new, discuss future projects and bounce ideas around in a friendly and informal atmosphere. Nobody expects to make a killing out of it. I hope you can manage along this weekend and see what I mean. Pete
