Bank of England had an office in Broad Street, it does appear to have had facilities for storing gold bullion.

Once when walking nearby I saw 4 police motorcyclist accompanying 2 Seddon Atkinson Security vans, they were huge and quite heavily armoured, and the police were clearing the traffic so they never stopped. I had never seen anything like it so presumably these were transferring Bullion

Excellent Thread, thanks to JCL etc for sharing your efforts.

Cant wait to see 37714 on mainline workings!!! good old DRS....
I am not sure it is going mainline proper, it is intended as a super shunter at Daventry.

I reckon it's only the thin bits on the end of the casting where the mould run is thin that corrodes, so that bit will be going for a visit to Mr Milling Machine and the whole lot paint stripped for further inspection.
Mike.
I have used a broken Hornby chassis in a Lima 31 and will see how long it lasts but since having it part of the main chassis near the screw holes has broken further. If it fails further I will transplant the Motor etc into the Lima chassis so won't be the end of the world, just more work.

They look very good. I do think the split boxes should be more outboard of the centre though so their sides meet flush with the nose side.
Happy to be corrected though.
Cheers.
Sean.
I agree Sean, although the angle in some photos can be deceiving:

I had to do a double take on this, are the cab noses different on this loco, one flush and one split box, looking at the back of it in the blue livery, it looks like it is to me but could be wrong, It would make a interesting model if it is.

Quite a few like this due to accident damage albeit each with their own subtle differences. From memory they were 006/19/65/75/100/102 which had marker lights at one end and boxes at the other. 006,19, 65 and 100 retained the nose doors but lost the boxes. 102 had a friday afternoon look about it with strange tail lights, cut back bufferbeam cowling (as did 19) and no doors. When converted to 712 they sorted most of the bits, but left the obscure tail light mountings.
Also with odd ends was 37072 which had a centre box and roof mounted horns at one end only. In addition 073/74/091 were rebuilt after smashes with centre boxes in the 60's and to the untrained eye are identical to a standard centre box series 2 machine. Laira also struggled with any 37 that wasn't centre box so rebuilt 031/047/053 into centre boxes but with nose moutned horns.

Has this been fixed now? I just purchased one of the new Railroad 31s and would hate for it to be affected.
The Railroad 31's won't be affected, they are the old Lima chassis which is plastic.

Can't help with the MG identification from the photo, but the most obvious distinguishing feature between the TC and the TD was that most (all?) TCs had classic centre lock wire wheels and most (all?) TDs had bolt on pressed steel disc wheels. The body shapes were significantly different too, but without seeing examples of each side by side it's not something which immediately strikes the viewer.
Nice photos though.
Its a TC, the TD had the rev counter and speedo in front of the driver. All TC's had wire wheels
The picture in the link below is of my dad's TC, both he and I used the car to drive our newly married wives away from the church 30 years apart

IIIRC, DP2 came around the build of Deltic 9 or 10. also the engine from DP2 was used in one of the production batch of the class 50s. and lasted until the end.
OzzyO.
Indeed, it ended up in 50023 but it put a conrod through the block.
-
Rebuilding a Deltic to DP2 would be like de-streamlining Mallard to make another A3
Except an A3 already exists whereas a DP2 doesn't.
While DP2 looks similar to a Deltic I presume the internal framing is substantially different requiring a new shell?

Some lovely work here, just be careful if you start getting into any of the PHD steps or Extreme Etchings/ Lazerglase components, they are that good and make such a difference you will want to do the whole fleet, I have spent more on detailing mine than I spent on the original loco!

Recently changed to 1973

Fingers crossed that they make it rolling again, I would only have 4 more years of tax on the Land Rover. The annual road fund licence currently costs me 20p a mile as it only does 1,000 miles a year!

I always like a nice Cut and Shut job, cracking modelling as ever Sean.

Thanks to Boscarne at 153 above for the photos of Bachmann's forthcoming Class 101. I think these are the first photos of it to appear anywhere.
I think this means that the SR Utility vans PLV/PMV/CCT are the only items from Bachmann's 2012-13 programme that have not yet seen the light of day. They weren't by any chance on display too? If they were, again a photo or photos would be much appreciated.
By the by, what was the Swanage event that Bachmann had a stand at yesterday? I don't see any reference to anything in the exhibitions thread.
John
I presume it was the Diesel Gala at Swanage this weekend.
That 101 does look the business.

Hi Peter,
The second option will probably look a little more realistic, it is rare to find a road running parallel to a tunnel mouth, even at Kemble there is a reasonable gap between the tunnel mouth and road:

Nice to see this at Trainwest and have a quick chat with Ray, a lovely layout.

Your right about Aladdin's cave he had every thing and knew where it was, but as a school boy my trouble was that unless I knew what I wanted I could never find it , and as I didn't know what was available and who made what back them, I spent hours rummaging but never finding what I wanted as I didn't want to ask for a due fur to fit a thingy, and look dumb it was just information overload
I know the shop was run by his daughter towards the end but I wonder just what happened to the literary tons of bits when it shut down
I don't know, but I have a pack of bearings in my spares box that still bear his price label!

Max Williams of Bristol was always an aladdins cave, I used to badger my parents to take me there, even though it was the other side of town.

Very tempted by one of these, I am sure Shawplan can do some laserglaze for the windows!
