  1. The 47/4s that I'm aware of, which carried Green TOPS livery are; 47494 (1936), 47520 (1103), 47522 (1105), 47523 (1106), 47525 (1108), 47526 (1109) & 47527 (1110) and a new photo has turned up, claiming to be 47516, which is still "in the balance" as a misprint, for 47526 (the number isn't clearly readable). As regards ScR 20s in GFYE, the only one I can come up with, is D8123, from an undated photo with no location details, although there is a Class 50 in the background, so possibly on ScR metals. There were other 20s on the ScR with GFYE, but I don't think they were "Native" - D8015, D8018, D8027 among others. As far as I'm aware, 5335 was the only GFYE 26. This lasted well into 1973 and was the last green 26 of all. It had lost its white stripe as well. Rgds, Ron.
  2. One quick question, before I DO hit the sack; Did any of the 5114-5132 series ever carry Green with Full Yellow Ends livery? All the pics posted on here so far, suggest not, but surely ONE of them lasted long enough.... Rgds, Ron.
  3. Thanks Bob - Luverly!! Notice 26011's still got the drop-down windows on the cab door, even though the window frames are painted yellow. Never seen one like that before. The two links to pics on the RPA don't work for me - all I get is an RPA Admin page, telling me my session has timed out............ I'll have another try in the morning. Meantime, the eyelids are getting heavy now............... Rgds, Ron.
  4. Here's another one of those "Emulsion Anomalies". Despite how it looks, 5147 IS green. I have no idea, WHY it was repainted/bulled up in green in 1974. It WAS reported in the RO, at the time, but my ROs are "in storage" at the moment, so I can't refer to them. Possibly for an open day somewhere. Dunno. Crewe Works did a similar thing in the early '70s; a loco would enter for overhaul in green and it would exit after overhaul, looking for all the world, like it had been repainted green. Maybe 24147 had a minor O/H somewhere and they bulled up the paintwork as it wasn't TOO bad and sent her out again. Just guessing.... Rgds, Ron.
  5. I don't "think" there's any doubt that 24118 is blue - I've certainly never heard of a green repaint on it....but then again, not many people knew of the green repaint on 24147, but there it was.... The pics are noteworthy for two other reasons; 1 - The green 47 - a very late pic of a green TOPS ETH 47. Wouldn't I like to know, which one it is?? There were only a few 47/4s in green TOPS and they didn't last long. I think the last one, was the WR's 47494. This one, is probably one of the ER's bunch. 2 - 26011. VERY probably the only 26 to retain "Early Blue" into TOPS and only the second photo I've seen of it. Rgds, Ron.
  6. Here's an interesting shot of 24132, probably at her final resting place. http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f122/Ron_H/gb24132-22Feb1976.jpg Where have the headlights gone? Would they have bothered sealing up the holes if it was (and we know it WAS) going for scrap, or did it have headlights at one end only? I'm not clued-up enough to tell which is No1 end or No2, so I don't know if this pic is of the SAME end, as the other one I posted.... Ron.
  7. Fable and myth indeed.....given a full green repaint with Lion & Wheel in 1974!! http://www.flickr.com/photos/ron_h/5009307438/ Rgds, Ron.
  8. Correct!! And closer examination of the shot of 24113, reveals it to be in the same livery. Both locos were early blue in pre-TOPS. I have a shot from the Interweb, of 24112 in Derby Works, being rubbed down, on 26 Sep 1974, also 24113 still in service with arrow on far cab-end, on 2 Oct 1974 - it had central arrows, by the time of the next shot I have of it, dated Aug 1976, so "probably" one of the last of the overhauls in early 1975. Rgds, Ron.
  9. Sorry, nothing on the backs of any of those photos - they came from EBay and they're probably copies of commercial prints. HOWEVER......a quick (!?!) shufty at my collection, came up with this shot of 20023; http://www.flickr.com/photos/ron_h/5589173933/ . Look at the guttering of the shed, just above and to the right of 20023's cab and compare it with just above the cab of 24132 with the number on, and I reckon we can nail it as Eastfield, more or less the same position I saw it in Oct 1975. Rgds, Ron.
  10. Found a couple more 24s at Doncaster Works on 3/4/77. http://www.flickr.co...n_h/5587646907/ http://www.flickr.co...n_h/5588239266/ And a few that I didn't take... http://i46.photobuck...n_H/gb24113.jpg http://i46.photobuck...n_H/gb24112.jpg http://i46.photobuck...n_H/gb24108.jpg http://i46.photobuck...n_H/gb24132.jpg A couple of snippets from MY perspective.... I copped 24132, which was put to store in October 1975, at Eastfield on 20 October 1975...how lucky is that?? Aside from those 24s scrapped pre-TOPS, the only 24 I never saw, was 24117, which was chopped at Doncaster Works, no more than three weeks, before my planned visit....how UNlucky, is THAT??? Rgds, Ron.
  11. These are the last of my shots of IS 24s. I have some from the "Photographer unknown, from my collection" category, which I'll put on, when I get back from work in the morning. Please pardon the dire shot of 24121 - Zenit-Es had good days and bad days........ http://www.flickr.co...n_h/5586034984/ http://www.flickr.co...n_h/5586034470/ http://www.flickr.co...n_h/5585440959/ http://www.flickr.co...n_h/5585440379/ http://www.flickr.co...n_h/5586032814/ Cheers, Ron. PS - My shot of 24119, which states it was taken at Dalry, was actually Haymarket but Flickr, in their wisdom, wouldn't let me put Haymarket as the location!
  12. Here are some more for you; http://www.flickr.com/photos/ron_h/4693992010/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/ron_h/4693356433/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/ron_h/5547057323/ I DID take a few more at Millerhill on 2/4/77, but mostly they were into the sun........and cramped........ But if you want 'em, I'll dig 'em out.... Rgds, Ron.
  13. Ah - yes, you're right. It was that the whole of this thread, seemingly, was dedicated to the 5114-5132 series, I didn't see the reference to 5070 creep in, unannounced!! I know, I know.................................Should have gone to SpecSavers............................ Ron.
  14. Strictly speaking, the 60A locos of the D5114-D5132 series aren't "Skinheads" as they have roof mounted indicator boxes. The true "Skinheads" are D5000-D5113. Rgds, Ron. PS; - I've just uploaded shots of 24116 & 24119 in withdrawn condition to my Flickr Album.
  15. If you mean the two-tone green variety, then these are confirmed green/TOPS; 25102, 25202, 25203, 25248, 25251, 25252, 25260, 25261, 25276, 25278, 25294, 25305. There are other "possibles", but I won't complicate things with those............... The only photo I took personally of any of these, is THIS one; http://www.flickr.co...57624116103155/ 'tho I saw most of the rest of them. Rgds, Ron.
