  1. I think people have more than one ebay account for a variety of reasons, such as keeping one of the accounts 'clean' if they happen to get a 'neutral or negative' at some point. I've noticed a few undeserved negs and neutrals, because the winning bidder is inexperienced in railway terminology, or they are not familiar with the models they are buying, and they've left unjust feedback, that clearly displays their ignorance. ( fortunately, I myself haven't had this happen to me, I might add ) Another reason someone might have more than one ebay account, is so they can 'hide' things they are selling from people they know. When I started on ebay, I didn't realise a seller could have more than one account, and a friend sent me French / pigeon English ebay questions about an item I was selling, - it was all a huge wind-up, using another account I didn't know he had. ( I didn't and don't find it funny, just annoying ) In fact this friend definitely has THREE ebay accounts that I know of, perhaps he has more..... seems surprising to me, is it really neccessary.
  2. I went to see Pete Waterman's, O gauge, Leamington Spa layout recently, I found that certainly is inspirational. The as yet, unpainted resin bridges, are covered in rivets, and really finely detailed, with different size girder spans on the same bridge. A green, weathered, class 37 was stabled in a siding, at the time of my visit, and the 'real - or - model' photo I took, looks pretty good, the limitation being more to do with the physical bulk and size of my camera, than the standard of modelling. The LMS 'twins' were running, and with sound too !! where did he get that from ?? remarkable... Pete's lucky, in that he can attract some of the best O gauge modellers and modelling skills, his layout really shows what you can do, with the right people on board. I was surprised by the sheer number of correctly assembled, Slaters wagons successfully running on the layout, - I tried building some of these kits a few years ago, and put them on lima chassis, as I didn't feel confident enough to build the kit chassis in case it wasn't 'square' or the axleboxes ended up out of line, as quite often, I'm a bit ham-fisted. Inspirational layouts 2 + 3, seeing the 100 wagon coal train go over the viaduct at Pendon, and the dramatic scenery on Chee Tor, including the passage of the train over the bridge, through the short tunnel and then out, into some more, magnificent countryside.
  3. DP2 was cut up in 1968 at Vulcan foundry, BR would probably have given it back around that time anyway, so it may well have ended up with dispoal at the same time and place if it hadn't come to grief, as a lot of it's innards ended up in class 50's. - it was a useful piece of kit and only the body and bogies would probably have been sold off to preservationists, if any had come forward, everyone was trying to save steam at Barry in 1968. I read somewhere, that DP2 started out on the production line as a Deltic, but was then diverted onto the DP2 project, as it's construction hadn't progressed very far.
  4. Look at the amazing list of 47's that's been added, http://www.flickr.co...ps/1533814@N24/ (discussion)
  5. I've just started a 'Waverley route' group on Flickr, photo's are welcome, provided they comply with the guidelines in the group description. http://www.flickr.co...ps/1533814@N24/ Having seen 'scottish modeller's (hi Phil) remarks on page 3 of this forum, I hope I have a bit more success, after all, there's loads of Waverley route stuff all over the internet, including Flickr, it's obviously a sensitive issue, with people affected by the re-opening proposals, I hope, with a bit of care, fellow modellers can enjoy this Flickr group without anyone being upset or offended.
  6. Will the Inland Revenue want a share of these 20p coin seller's profits? - in fact I've had a silly idea, the taxman could sell a few himself, to boost recovery from the country's economic woes.
  7. Nice item, but 'postage' cost might put people off, lol.
  8. I bet rails were 'chuffed' when it raised that amount!!
  9. I offered £25. It's listed for 26 days, so I'm going to 'watch this item' to see the outcome
  10. Re-listed and sold for £120.99, incredible!!!!!
  11. I've heard that private cars are also under consideration for being required to have lights on during daylight hours, which does actually use extra fuel.
  12. Incredibly, there's a recent (European?) law that requires British buses to have their lights on, even during daylight hours.
  13. I worked at Huddersfield station during the early 1980's and one day, parcels traffic volume was unusually slack, so the foreman decided myself and a colleague had to do the white line on platform 1, to keep us busy, this was a very hurried affair, with passengers and trains about My colleague used an ordinary sweeping brush with very short and many, missing bristles, I had a proper platform paintbrush, with two sides, but still plenty of missing bristles!! We used a large tin of ordinary white paint, and dipped both brushes into that!!! A very uneven job resulted, not much paint from my workmate, but too much paint from mine, with plenty getting onto the ballast, as the entire brush head was covered in paint every time I dipped it in the tin!! We did the job in under an hour, and it looked a bit messy, but after a couple of weeks, footprints, muck and rain took their toll, and it blended together fairly well. Where there were nicks and chips in the platform edge, the paint often missed but nobody cared!! (I did) I expect the unstaffed stations on the Penistone branch, had similar treatment, as they came under the three (strewth, nearly more gaffers than staff!) Huddersfield traffic managers at the time. For more info, see my profile on Flickr, photostream.
