  2. Listening to Smoking In Heaven - the new album from Kitty, Daisy & Lewis. Lots of rockabilly fun...
  3. Stunning work! The real thing should also be emerging from the workshop in the relatively near future...
  4. Heading to Cork at lunchtime for a lads weekend away. Wonder if I should book the liver transplant now...?

  5. Excellent work... looking forward to seeing it progress.
  6. David K Smith and Rick Spano are well known for creating interesting and innovative animated scenes in N gauge... 7. Getting the morning train to Dublin for the Model Railway Society of Ireland's exhibition

  8. ...either that or it's the new McDonalds Happy Meal :P

  9. HO scale using EM gauge track would also be a good match for the 5ft 3in gauge used by the likes of Metro Trains Melbourne and V Line, allowing existing kits, etc. to be used instead of the awkwardness of modelling in OO and having to scratchbuild everything. And, as far as I know, ready-built EM gauge track is available from the likes of SMP and C&L...
  10. Brilliant stuff, Al! One of the first things I'd do each time I logged-on to the old RMWeb was to check for updates on the GA&E layout thread, so I'm delighted to see it on here now!

  12. I'm basing my opinion on comments and polls I've read in La Monde and L'Equipe today. Some French politicians also appear to have mooted the possibility. I'm not saying a replay is the correct course of action, just that the possibility was being discussed. No offence Rich, but that's a load of rubbish. A player's ability is no guarantee they'll convert their chance... just ask Roberto Baggio, David Beckham, Andriy Shevchenko or Cristiano Ronaldo. Many's a giant has been slain in shootouts. I would, however, say you are right in your assumption that had Ireland scored the winner through a handball, then Platini, Blatter and their cronies would be moving a lot faster to make the necessary changes. As it was, they got what they wanted after already rigging the play-offs by unfairly changing the rules after the competition had begun.
  13. You could say that, I guess, and it's the age old situation of "should've, would've, could've." However, can you really compare honest efforts with a deceitful one? I thought I'd be feeling better about this today but I'm not; my stomach is still in knots. A huge furore has erupted over the issue, too, including a lot of calls in France for a replay to preserve their team's dignity. Can't see it happening though...
  14. Gutted that Ireland aren't going to South Africa. I feel physically sick, to be honest... a mixture of cheating and inexplicable decision-making (Henry and Gallas offside and the already world-famous handball incident) have done us out of a place in the finals! :icon_frustrated:
  15. Fever Ray - 'Now's the Only Time I Know'
  16. Folks, any thoughts on the World Cup playoffs? As an Irishman I'm quietly optimistic that we can sneak a result against the French...
  17. Excellent work Cap'n! I picked up two Valve Design 141/181 class bodyshells and hope to get started on them soon. I mainly model Irish-outline in 4mm scale so these new developments in N are providing yet another distraction! Any plans to come over and sample our railways firsthand? I strongly recommend timing any trip so that you could sample some mainline steam action, courtesy of the RPSI. It's not everywhere you'll get a chance to ride behind an 0-6-0 or a 2-6-4T on the mainline!
