  1. Just in case you thought 24.5t hopper were confined to coal traffic (apart from the 1/153s in their early days in Kent), there are some good photos on the Derby Sulzers website showing HUOs carrying limestone on the Wirksworth branch: http://www.derbysulzers.com/branches.html
  2. Murphy Models have produced a nice 071 in several liveries, so you really have no excuse. And yep, Accurascale is British outline.
  3. And if you get the right bank teller, they may even accept a cheque with a minor spelling error! To answer Mick’s question, ’Accura-‘ comes from ‘accuracy’, so it’s pronounced without the drawn-out ‘u’. Edit: I’ll shut up now - Fran’s here!

Excited and anxious all at once, Andy!

As for the bacon slicer, I'm still trying to avoid that...

  5. Steady on, George... we were wielding cameras and measuring tapes, not spray paint!
  6. The Biggest Little Railway in the World is an interesting watch so far. Nice advert for the hobby, too...

it too and also recognised Jenny Emily. It's a shame so many people keep quiet about liking model railways...

I'd also wondered how many of the people involved with this series are also members here.

Obviously, I'm mainly referring to the volunteers - but I'd be surprised if something like this were to be produced without at least some of the other people involved also being interested in (or at least sympathetic to) the hobby.

Now for the real question - what are they going to do to follow this series?

I doubt if anyone here would be in a position to answer.

  7. I'm curious as to how you came to that conclusion as the products we've released so far for the Irish market, as well as the next one on the list, are all pre-1980.
  8. Back home in Dublin after a thoroughly enjoyable weekend at Warley. It was nice to meet some familiar faces and many friendly new ones. Looking forward to next year already...

  11. I was driving home through heavy traffic the other day and my mind began to wander, so I didn't notice the red light up ahead until the last moment and ended up rear-ending the car in front of me. A man of particularly short stature got out, marched over with a face like thunder, and knocked on my window. "I'M NOT HAPPY!!!" he yelled. "Oh, right," I replied. "Well, which one are you?"

  14. Delivery update: https://irishrailwaymodels.com/index.php/2016/10/06/ballast-hopper-delivery-update/
  15. We received this photo today from the factory. More will follow in due course!
  16. A further update: Irish Railway Models has signed off on the finalised CAD design for the ballast wagon and the order has been given to the factory to "cut metal" on the tooling. All going well, we should have a production slot assigned to us by the time the plant closes for Chinese New Year (February 8th). We'll keep you updated. Meanwhile, there are now less than 50 sets still available to purchase through our website, so now really is the time to purchase your models if you have not already done so.
  17. Another quick sales update. We're delighted to say that 75% of the production run has now been reserved. We should have updated CAD files in our possession soon, after which the fun of cutting metal can begin.
  18. Hi folks, Just a quick update on the project... Half of the planned production run has been reserved already, which is extremely encouraging for us. We're expecting what will hopefully be the final version of the CAD to arrive in our boxes from Dave very soon, and then it's on to cutting metal. We should have a pre-production sample early in the new year.
  19. Thanks for unveiling the project here, Dave. For anyone who is interested, here's a screenshot of the latest CAD drawing:
