  1. Glad all went well Ken. Time to catch up on the research and best of all play lots of trains ! ATB Mick
  2. I do mate, one day I plan to make one in 7mm, probably a few years down the line though. If its the same fish house is the photo taken on William wright Dock ? Strange how the road is lifted but the signal remains ? When it was quiet on nights ( which was rare ! ) I used to go up there and have five minutes looking out over the water. I'm sure I heard the odd ghost of an Austerity in the distance..... ATB Mick
  3. Lovely work mate as usual, it would be great to see a fish house as a back drop as now the Hull skyline has now changed completely. I remember when one pf the last burnt down, thw firebrigade the bricks were actually in fire due to the years and year of fish oil in them!! Can you explain more about the H&B signal having three positions, it's not something I know much about. Looking forward to the photo backdrop coming along. Finished for Hull show ? ATB Mick
  4. Thanks for posting the photos of th rear bogie Ken, this will greatly help with my G5 build. Sorry to hear about your health problem, from what I'm told these things are somewhat routine so I bet you'll be back on the bench in no time, All the very best Mick
  5. I couldn't agree more, certainley food for thought. This would be a formidable structure in 7mm, but what a model it would make. Thanks for posting Mick, ATB Mick
  6. Hi Ken, As ever I quietly watch from the wings and this recent build has re kindled a flame in me to tackle my Javlin Black 5 once again. I have a short firebox version nearly complete in F/S which I intend to convert to S7. How easy do you think the frames will be to rectify, I feel it will be a major undertaking from what I have seen of the valve gear tolerance on your build? Also has the kit had an upgrade under new ownership as the buffers I have are horrible white metal ones? ENjoying the progress, ATB Mick
  7. Lovely work mate, the second name board does look better, All you need now is a layout to put it on...... ATB Mick
  8. Lovely Job mate, it looks to me like you managed the contrast perfectly. Out of curiosity is there a particular reason for bricking up the windows during wartime, blackout ?? Seems like a permanent step instead of blackout curtains. ATB Mick
  9. I'll second that, the wife is currently reveiwing the christmas present list. Will they be avaliable in time for a stocking filler ?? ATB Mick
  10. Cheers Ken, The Gladiator kit certainely looks the part, ATB Mick
  11. Hi Ken, Is the B1 kit mainly etched brass and do you have any other pictures of the build please, it would be great to see them. I like the DJH B1 but IMHO it's too expensive and all that white metal can't be a good thing ! ATB Mick
  12. Hi Tony, I'm queitly keeping an eye on the K3 which looks fantastic by the way. It's a shame that the tender seems to have carried on in the same vain as the loco !! Will the K3 be ready for Manchester ? Attached is a picture of a DMR tender Ibought to run with a Meadly Models D49, it went together really well and with extra detail could make a nice model. Iwish the same could be said for the loco ! It's now right at the back of the que and I'm hoping MOK introduce a D49 kit so I can keep this one on the difficult draw ! ATB Mick
  13. Sorry to hear of your news Ken, all the best to you and family, Best regards Mick
  14. Hi Tony, You're a man after my own heart, I like to batch paint in the warm weather, also I get my bench cleaned off of all the building clutter and get on with the transfers and weathering. Cracking job on the LMS coach by the way, is the lining transfer or bow pen ?? Looking forward to seeing the weathering bit and of course the K3, ATB Mick
  15. I'm really looking forward to the D16 build also. I don't always post but I always keep an eye on your progress Ken, which is very quick . ATB Mick
  16. Tony, Not sure about the tool boxes, the DMR Group Standard tender is ok and I know he sells a lot of fittings seperate. I've heard that the Finney tender is one of the best around, but thats only what i've heard. Bioth worth a try I think?? JB, Not sure about the 4f but I built a Gibson 3f tank about fifteen years ago and I liked it. All slot and tab and I thought went together well. the only thing I didn't like is the kits talks about cutting out the cab floor to fit a motor, so from this I assume it is very old. I think if you treat the kit as a good starting point to add further detail you'll get a cracking little engine, ATB Mick
  17. I've only just managed to catch up with progress Tony and I have to agree with everyone else it looks fantastic so far. What tender are you fitting, will it be a flared top or a flat sided group standard tender ?? ATB Mick
  18. Thanks Tony, I'll get some in stock, i'm keeping my eye's open for a kit still, fingers crossed Best regards Mick
  19. Hi Tony, She's really coming to life now, a very clean and tidy build indeed. What are the dimensions of the boiler bands please ?? Cheers Mick
  20. Hi Tony, The K3 is coming on really well and the work you're putting in to get it right is really paying off, it's a shame the kit is so in accurate really. Still watching and enjoying the build, keep up the good work, Best reagrds Mick
  21. Hi Tony, Dikitriki pointed me in your direction from another forum that can't be named when I saw some footage of a K3 on Heyside. Great timing to see that you're just starting although unfortunately for me it seems that the kits are as rare as rocking horse poo!! In any case I will enjoy following the build and look forward to seeing the finished article. Oh and if you see any more kits knocking about please let me know . i'll keep watching for inspiration, Many thanks Mick
