  1. My other half was on the big C red card.. seen within 24 hours, tests conducted within 36 hours then..the consultants started falling out with each other! Like @NHNs good lady one set spotted signs for pancreatic cancer, the bowel people said.. she's OK.. the gyne consultants decided she had a non cancerous ovarian cyst and, in between having strike days operated within the 6 week period (just). It was non cancerous .. took longer to get the test results.. as for the pancreatic cancer.. Rogue result..but at least they spotted it. All in all.. as efficient as anyone could be... Compare that to my late Mum.. only diagnosed far too late and it wasn't a pleasant time whil she was ill... so there has been major improvements in this area... Baz
  2. Ey up! Back from my ventures of the last few days. Warm and sunny up there.. it dark and grey here in the North West Leeds Highlands...pah! A tidy the house day looms as a friend is coming to stay tonight. A bit of sharking, a bit of floor swabbing and some furniture rearranging is required. I must first though, travel to the butchers in Horsforth for bacon and some of their excellent sausage. TTFN baz
  3. He can see .. as observed by me yesterday you will be able to see into the shed. Using dc not dcc in this instance helps. You can get the type of locomotivevyou want by looking into the shed (the roof won't cover all of the shed. And, the turntable and power on system works well.. Baz
  4. Oops, I see drugs companies do pay GPs and others to make use of their products..quel surprise.. Baz
  5. Ey up! Plan for the day.. visit the Tanfield Railway then off back to the North West Leeds Highlands. Had some great weather and nice days out this week. I feel re-energised... I know most GPs want you to take stations.. consultants in other areas don't.. and I quickly realised that the cardio consultants are not keen on using networking either.. justvtry getting the GPs to walk away from using that. I question why the real reasons for the use of some drugs are. Similarly they use a calculation sheet to see if you could have a heart attack or stroke.. marked out of 9 score 1 if you are over 65, 1 for if you have high blood pressure, 1 if you are type 2 diabetic.. outcomes.. take blood thinners.. but these can affect how you live your life...great but far too simplistic approach I fear. Time to get ready for my migatea then breakfast then... off to enjoy the day. Stay safe! Baz
  6. Great day at Beamish. It warmed up through the morning which was nice. Trip behind a replica of puffing Billy, several tram rides and bus rides and then.. a trip to collect a fair bit of muddling stuff. No need for tea tonight.. lots of food eaten during the day. Hopefully my neighbours will be quieter tonight.. bit loud returning from the bar last night. TTFN Baz
  7. But they aren't fully fledged.. they are still learning by experience.. Baz
  8. Ey up! Day 2 of my trip to the best County in the World.. Australia also boasts a Kirkstall.. and Sheeptoiletcowtoiket (woollamaloo). First problem with medicals is.. while termed Doctors they do not have a doctorate... bit like British Gas saying they only employ gas engineers.. in the old days they were fitters.. that's just two examples of names for occupations which have been modified to suit. The cardio wards in Leeds have 4 or 6 beds in them. Even the "larger" wards have been split into smaller rooms with 4 to 6 people in them. Been like that for a whilebin the largest teaching hotels in Europe. As it is chloresterol has a new toy to play with... triglycerides. Problem with these are.... you need a fasting blood test to check it out. Over the day these naturally get higher.. don't ask me how I know. Many moons ago, as a young Graduate Engineer I was "trained" how to use my theoretical knowledge to sort out practical problems. After 3 years I became an engineer in job title. Sounds good to me for learner medics.. Time to have breakfast.. Have a good day! Baz
  9. But only for a certain length of time... you must check locally. Baz
  10. Coleslaw..Nice, fresh and crispy! Bas
  11. Nice drive to Locomotion.. Great museum.. Great set up.. Then tea at The Lambton Worm. A "Lite Bite" Club Sandwich..far too much for me Baz
  12. Ey up! A quick visit before I set off on my mini tour of County Durham.hopefully the weather stays fine. My optician is a star. He set up a numbernof visits to eye doctors then they log where my eyes are in terms of performance, pressures etc and they arrange for regular check ups. Brilliant. Time to engage drive mode. TTFN! Baz
  13. After an incident at the local eye surgery they referred me for private treatment. The incident ocwhile the doctor was trying to test my eye pressure with the gizmo used for NHN today.. hebpushed too far and I moved outnof the way.. very quickly! Private eye docs are very good with that machine.. even the yellow carp they pour into your eye doesn't seem too bad. When they use an NdYag laser to pinch drain holes in your eyes it gets a bit exciting.... Baz
  14. As is usual early pre opening attendees will be able to buy hot food etc from about 09:30. We trust people to pay for entry once they have finished! Baz
  15. Ey up! Recovered from getting very wet yesterday.. all in vain as well..pah! I am venturing North this week. Locomotion tomorrow then Beamish for a couple of days.. beware @Two_sugars and @BoD. @polybearher indoors is a sorter. At the shop they do hang up clothes on proper rails, specialist items are sold on at different shops or via the bay of E. This year they have also been sending items darn sarf as they had a major shortage of items. Some of the stuff she sorts is less than nice to handle. Time for my mugatea methinks... Stay safe and well! Baz
