  1. Hello woodyfox Ive just discovered this thread, and a fine station project! A near scale finescale 00 model of Scarborough Station from buffer stops almost to Londesborough Road was built by the Scarborough and District Railway Modellers many years ago and featured in Railway Modeller. It was my favourite layout at shows in the 1990's and I often wondered what happened to it when it disappeared off the radar. Fast forward to two years ago and following an amazing series of fortunate events I now have that layout in my posession and have been rewiring and renovating its nine boards and 38ft length ever since!! The layout will be based around 1965 to 75. Two of the boards were exhibited at the recent Pickering Show in August where they were warmly received. Here is a URL which contains a short clip of SC from the Pickering Show: I live near Diffield so not far from you, and have accumulated a fair amount of info which I will be happy to share. Dave
  2. Ha Ian You've outed me; model railways and football in one go! Yes, Scarborough Central is now in my possession, and the journey that brought my favorite layout to me is the stuff of dreams; I could write a book about it. This remarkable layout can be traced back to the mid 80's and I am currently rewiring several of the boards. I hope initially to exhibit the main station area with rudimentary running at a couple of SDMRC Club showcase events at Pickering Station in support of NYMR Galas later this year. In the meantime, here is a photo of the station entrance in or around around 1969 I think... or is it Also Falsgrave Box with Platform 1a and the Gantry still in situ.
  3. Hi Sasquatch I don't model southern but was sorting through a bunch of old Railway Modeller magazines literally 30 minutes before reading your post and 'lo and behold' there is a three page article by John Wass in the October 2011 edition entitled 'Electric Arc; how to simulate the conductor rail flash on third rail systems! I pull out all the articles I want to keep and then use a thermal binder to archive my 'greatest hits' neatly together; I'm afraid I wasn't going to keep that article.. I can send it to you if you like? Dave
